Leicester vs Aston Villa - Pre-match Thread (August 31st)

Soumare over Alves is abuse. -
I want him based on his chant alone.
-
What am I missing? I thought he ‘was one for the future’ and looked decent whenever he played for us.

Will Alves signs new deal until 2028!

Maybe he’s decided to stay and fight for his place. -
I think we just don’t know. The point is we need to take a risk and see. All three are young talented lads. The clubs were Buonanotte and Bilal were at before took a risk and played them when they were youngsters. We seemingly daren’t. It’s not like Alves and Nelson are new to the game of football!
-
I don’t think this is the case with Alves and Nelson. I believe they are good enough. They’re not being given minutes because they don’t have enough minutes. It’s stupidly conservative and ridiculous. If we’re buying players this year to play ahead of them when we have massive financial issues you have to question whether there is any route into the first team for them. We’re holding them back.

This might be better than my effort on the song thread marrying El Khannouss with Erasure’s Oh L’ Amour -
To the melody of Erasure’s Oh L’ Amour Al Khannouss Broke Genk’s heart Now we’re watching you Mon amour What’s a fan in love Supposed to do? I passed it to you You were looking for me Always running for you You scored per-fect-ah-ly. AL KHANNOUS!!!

I’m beginning to think our club has become a barrier to Alves development. Especially now this Moroccan lad is coming in. We need a new Director of Football. On one hand they give him/the fans the message he’s around the first team and valued. With the other they buy players who keep him out the team and it’s very debatable whether they offer more. The actions are not joined up. -

It’s not silly to give him a chance so we can see what he can do. A 16 year old played in the European Cup Final. If he was here everyone would just assume he should go out on loan. -

I think he could easily get crocked on loan a couple of leagues down. He’d be more protected in The Prem. -

Totally agree. -

I truly believe the lad is ready to be thrown in at Premier League level. The loan thing is just really lazy thinking. He needs to be given a chance. He’s got more to offer going forward than some of the players we’ve signed. -
It’s so ****ing obvious!

Alves has played well in the short amount of time he’s been on. -
There’s no method here.
-
Imagine what he could do if his final ball and shot was not so goddam awful the majority of the time.
-
Faes wanting a move away and announcing it now that we’re back in The Prem is not a good sign IMO. Can’t imagine him doing this under Maresca.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on his ability and readiness. His final ball and shooting is also superior to Fatawu’s in terms of consistency and I will die on that hill. -

I feel really bad for Alves. Rodgers was definitely going to give him a run in the Prem before the horror injury and Maresca was very impressed with him and would have played him aside from some new niggles. Look at how he was made to feel integrated in and around the first team in that period. Now a new manager comes in and fills areas Alves can play in with two experienced but slow pros (do they offer more going forward?) and a loan signing with the lad from Brighton - who admittedly looks mustard. I truly think Alves would be looked after better by staying here with our medical team and by being given some first team football from the bench. Instead I fear he’ll go out on loan in a more physical league and on worse playing surfaces and have less good fitness regimes. It doesn’t bode well. All this without going into the financial idiocy of not taking a chance on our top talent coming out of Seagrave. It makes no sense to me at all. Other clubs integrate youth when there is far less talent. -
Fatawu’s last touch is more liability than an asset: Discuss.
-
Disappointed Alves isn’t on the bench.
-
It’s up to the player at the end of the day. A short campaign in Europe with a Bundesliga club or the biggest league in the world.

Smash and grab by us. Winks curler from distance in the 92nd minute. -
I don’t understand this point of view. Zaha has been an excellent player over many years. One we’d have been lucky to have. Just hope he’s still got it.
