I've just realised. All the talk of Fatawu and Ayew. Have we crocked Lascelles already?

Does it matter

Go on then I suppose we have to have one.

Stoke (A) 21/02/26: Pre-Match Thread

Not unhappy with Monga getting a shot but Fatawu is single handedly picking up points for us this season. If he's injured or had a fallout that's a problem. -

Bit weird

This guy wants Leicester to go down more than he wants Cov to go up

There's quite a few games left. Portsmouth, Blackburn and Charlton are not safe.

I'm sorry but all of these are nonsense and just optics. **** the optics right now we just want to stay in the league. Appealing has no risk. Like I said, no club in the history of English football has ever gotten a larger points deduction as a result of their own appeal against the initial amount and we won't be the first. That's not going to happen. And the Premier League had already made their own appeal before we made ours anyway. This entire meltdown is moot and typical foxestalk. This is just a non issue and was always going to happen.
-
Which would have been the biggest Premier League points deduction ever, hence the club calling it "unprecedented" or whatever the term was. Everton's 10 point deduction is, as far as I'm aware, currently the largest ever on behalf of the Premier League and it was reduced to 6 on appeal. Only a handful of clubs have ever gotten more than 10 and I'm pretty sure all of them either went directly into administration or broke rules around going in to administration.
-
Yeah absolutely, I'm fed up of it too. But I've got absolutely no idea why people thought it was over and done with because we got a points deduction. Clubs always appeal. All clubs always appeal. Nobody ever goes "oh thanks for that points deduction, lovely, now lets move on." The PSR / FFP rules are so stupidly and appalling written it would be daft to just take the ruling and not contest it at all. ESPECIALLY when we're the first club to be done by yet another new and revised bit of legislation that says the league we're not even currently in can impose points deductions and especially when those new rules came in AFTER the financial period in question. There are millions of things to moan about the club for and we've got a thread for every single one of them, people can and should go and absolutely bitch and moan their hearts out. But this is about the one thing the club are currently doing right. I'd be angry if we WEREN'T appealing. NOT appealing would be unbelievably stupid.

There has never been a case in English football where a club have been docked points, appealed, and gotten more points as a result. It has literally never happened at any level of the Premier or Football League. The only time points deductions have been added to is when a situation evolved, IE a club went in to administration whilst already suffering a points deduction (eg Luton.) There is no reason whatsoever for the club to not appeal, we were always going to do so. It isn't arrogant, it isn't delusional, it isn't bad leadership, it isn't putting our heads in the sand, it isn't denying culpability, it isn't refusing to learn from our actions, it isn't any other of the 25847363 reasons people are spamming this thread with to farm karma going "Top bad lul" - it's just normal.
-
Holy shit can we ban the next person to claim it's arrogant to appeal a ****ing ruling. No it isn't, it's just normal, what planet do you live on?
-
1. None of these people have a clue, they're passing themselves off as experts on Twitter for clout. 2. He's implying we're risking a larger points deduction by appealing (which is complete and total nonsense, there's near zero chance it'll actually go up not down) because the potential reward is the points deduction getting wiped out entirely (which is also not happening in a million years and I highly doubt we expect it will.) We're appealing because clubs literally always appeal, that's just how it works. I can't remember a points deduction for a PSR / FFP issue where a club hasn't appealed? The extreme likelihood is our appeal will just be rejected and we'll keep the 6 point deduction but there's an off chance it might be reduced to 3 or 4 points which could make all the difference.
-
It's literally standard procedure. People are morons.

tbf it was a two second google search to find a BBC sport article. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cd13r56z21xo

Football yes, the club not so much. The club are obviously at fault for the spending, I don't have a problem with us being punished, as much as I think PSR / FFP are completely ridiculous laws, they're laws we knew and broke. But on the flip side, I have absolutely no problem with the club appealing every single think the EFL / PL try to do if it claws us back any points. I don't like King Power, I'm fed up of Top, I agree, I want new owners. But the people that want us to get relegated just to somehow spite them or because they think it'll force them to sell are really ****ing weird. If we stay up, there's half a chance we get to spend some money this summer and go back to actually being able to enjoy matches a bit. If we go down, the snowball continues to roll and we keep struggling financially for god knows how many more years to come. We'll have been relegated from the Prem with a record wage bill and then we'll probably be relegated from the Champ with a record wage bill. That's not a record I want nor is it a millstone round the neck of the club I want, I'm so ****ing sick of this shit. So as far as I'm concerned, Top can appeal his little heart out. You go Top. The people that think we should just take our medicine and that it's somehow any kind of bad thing that the owners are appealing are... ****ing weird.
-
No. Everton appealed to have 10 points turned in to 6. Forest appealed and the appeal was rejected.

He was Rowett's assistant for years at Stoke and Millwall.

Txiki is probably one of the two or three best DOFs of all time. If this guy learned absolutely anything from working for the same organisation, it's a good start. Also, someone coming in that's worked with City Group globally has got to have more scouting knowledge than France, Denmark and BENELUX so it's an improvement for us.
