Nacho's skill and that ball with the outside of his boot, the whole move for the third goal should put paid to any doubts -
Maybe, if Enzo hadn't chosen to make a high number of changes. He treated the Liverpool game as a chance to give players who have featured less frequently some game time, ready to be called upon in the league.

Absolutely, because it's easier to move the ball than move bodies, and when we have the ball we get respite. I think that is one of the reasons why we'll often go backwards and reset instead of taking on the riskier break. Couple that with a bench that is capable of carrying out exactly the same plan, and you see why we're scoring so many goals in the last 20 minutes.

Can you give me a quick breakdown of the options for setting up my boy's U8s team, with a bit of pros/cons for each and a couple of GIFs?

I'd imagine that in percentage terms you're better off playing out than you are competing for second balls. Yes it relies on good decisions and quick passes under pressure, and if you **** those up you concede dangerous chances - learning that style of play *is* the process. It's hours in rondos and receiving/retaining the ball under pressure, and getting players comfortable doing that is a process that will reduce the percentage of errors further. Playing it long from the keeper has more variables - accuracy, movement of players with the ball in the air, a chance of not being first to the ball, a chance of losing the second ball. With a set shape and less ball-travelling distance you control those variables and have a higher chance of springing the press. Throw in a well-drilled second phase of fast ball progression and you're going to keep the ball more often than not. Meanwhile your opponent is chasing shadows until they're knackered by 75 minutes and start getting sloppy. -
How are we getting on, compared to previous Championship winners.

You have to admire their consistency! -
If we can keep it tidy at the back and not throw them a goal, I'll back us to break through and score. Fatawu looked good today, Mavididi is consistently dangerous, Yunus looks promising - even without MacAteer I think we'll have enough. Another late goal, 2-0

Looking at the current travails of the promoted sides above I can agree there's a gulf, but would we be walking the Championship with Rodgers in charge of this squad?
-
MOTM for me
-
Love that from Casadei. 4-1 up, their half, 90th minute, smash him
-
No but there's the odd heart-in-mouth moment
-
What a ****ing blatant dive
-
Yeah it's obviously a terrible thing to go down, but given the rot that had set in I think the club is making the best of the opportunity to reset the culture in an easier division.
-
Early days. Fortunately up to now the teething problems haven't been costing us points.
-
Him and Ndidi not looking on it, bar that ball for Vardy
-
Touching double figures
-
Both wingers in the book is testament to the relentless pressure. Hopefully Blackburn wear themselves out
-
I don't agree that it's shite, but against a team that presses this aggressively it is a calculated risk. I just don't like how often Mads telegraphs that pass down the middle. He took far too long then and it wasn't on. Couple of times today he's played it to a player I'd say was under too much pressure when there were options either side. I'm fine with Enzo and the system.

Pretty inexcusable from Mads there
