It is now a year since my last up-date on my Prostate Cancer Treatment. I visited my Urologist in Vienna last Wednesady for my quarterly check-up and my PSA level had dropped by a further 20% since the last test in late March (now 1.26). Given this good news my next check is in 6 months, although I will continue with the quarterly Blood Tests. I think what the above demonstrates is, if you detect this cancer early and have radiotherapy as soon as possible, there is every chance you can arrest the spread of the cancer and have a fairly normal life. So those men between the ages of 45-50 - please take regular PSA tests i.e. at least once a year and at more regular intervals if you find yourself having to make an excessive number of visits to the lavatory during the night. More importantly , IF there is a family history of Prostate Cancer, as was the case with me, you simply must check your body and have PSA Tests every 6 months. I personally had no obvious symptons but had a MRI scan because of the way this specific cancer ripped through my family. Take care lads and be vigilent.
