  1. That actually looks okay apart from the wingers.
  2. This is a huge blow. All of the potential replacements currently in the squad represent a massive drop off in effectiveness compared to Wilf.
  3. The problem with resting the first XI en masse is that they could lack a bit of match sharpness at Cov after 2 weeks out. Momentum is also a big thing in football. Playing a whole load of reserves and going out of the Cup tamely as a result could impact negatively more generally. It certainly did when Pearson did it back in 2012/13, though of course this current squad is much stronger. I just feel we should make 5 or 6 changes rather than 10 or 11. It's very hard for a team of squad players to be thrown together and play coherently.
  4. I'm not at all convinced it would be a good deal tbh. He was decent second half today after an anonymous first half, but he would be Ghezzal mark 2 in the PL, I reckon.
  5. Salah starting for Liverpool tonight then despite today being the day when players are meant to be released for Afcon.
  6. Seeing as KDH didn't play at all today, might he actually start this game? Wouldn't want him to go into the Cov game lacking match sharpness after 2 weeks off.
  7. That horrible scrote Tyler Morton sent off for Hull.
  8. Not the awful Casadei- Yunus combo in CM again. No Ndidi, Nacho or Daka on the bench. Have they left for AFCON already?
  9. Had a brief panic when I saw someone called Abdul Fatawu on this list! But thankfully it's clearly a different player!
  10. This is unbelievably good news.
  11. True, but he still gets more minutes than he deserves based on his 'performances'!
  12. Rachid Ghezzal mk2. Neat and tidy but lacking any kind of X factor or dynamism. Looks out of place in CM due to his lack of physicality and can't remember him even attempting to dribble at, let alone beat, a full back when playing on the wing.
  13. This 100%. In the last quarter they were leaving acres of space in behind and we had no outlet to exploit it, apart from Mavididi, who they could double up on and snuff out. We had no runners from midfield, Nacho lacks pace and for some reason Fatuwu was seemingly asked to play very deep - in fact, he seemed to be the one dropping into right back out of possession, rather than Ricardo. Overall, it just seems that Enzo overthought things, in the way Pep has been guilty of in big games in the past. Why not stick with our tried and trusted back 4 in such a key game, rather than throw in the rusty Coady? Coady was solid enough but we were far less good at playing out than usual with him in the team. I also didn't really get why we had KDH and Ndidi on opposite sides to usual, or why Ricardo was not dropping into RB out of possession. There were so many tweaks to our normal structure and patterns of play, so we lost all our fluidity. Subbing off our 2 first choice CMs early, presumably to save them for Cardiff, also seemed muddled thinking. Surely we need to see home this result in such a key game - and then rotate v Cardiff? Yunus and Casadei as a combo in CM have been awful every time - they have no physicality and running power at all. Even against a terrible Sheff Wed team, they were very ineffectual. And to top it all off, we now need to listen to George Elek claiming that Ipswich battered us on the stats, that we're not all that, etc. Really wanted us to make a statement in this game but instead we left ourselves hanging on for 25 minutes or so for a 1-0 win. We're a much better team than that.
  14. To be fair to him, by then he was literally our only pacy outlet in the last 15 or so minutes after Enzo subbed off KDH and Daka, whilst deploying Fatawu as all auxillary RB for most of the game.
  15. Enzo lost the plot tonight. Throwing in a rusty CB, playing Fatawu virtually as a RB, taking off our first choice CMs early, making changes that left us with little threat on the break for the last 20 minutes by removing Daka and KDH, plus having Fatawu so deep.
  16. Come on Luton, keep F*rest close.
  17. #pray for @Pub breath.
  18. James is one of the biggest divers in the game. Poor decision by the ref.
  19. Leeds have played the same team for about the last 15 games running apart from changing the left back more recently - and even Spence has played there for every game in December. It's no wonder they look jaded. As for us, I wouldn't want any of Saturday's team changed for the Ipswich game as the alternatives are not as good and we need our best XI on the field v Ipswich.
  20. No chance that he'll start.
  21. A sign that he is joining us in the PL next season?
  22. No. The 5 booking threshold only applied up to about game 18.
  23. Surely there must be a risk of burn out at Leeds? They play a high intensity game with the same XI week in, week out.
  24. Just unreal that after only half a season we've already won more games than 2 of last season's play off teams. Mind blowing in fact.
  25. Think we'll see Coady in the Vesty role (to avoid the risk of Vesty picking up a booking and missing the Ipswich game) and Souttar coming in for Faes, as I expect Rotherham to go very direct and Souttar's height will be very helpful in combating that. Then maybe bring in Hamza for JJ or Ricardo and, as Rotherham will sit very deep, maybe Iheanacho for Daka, who can be saved for the Ipswich game when his pace in behind would be very handy as they'll come at us. Ideal scenario is that we are 2 or 3 up after an hour so we can rest the wingers and the 8s for the last 30.
