Coaches contracts aren’t like players (unless you’re Lcfc and rodgers) likely that he had twelve months on full pay post sacking before that drops significantly for the remainder or even disappears completely
-
Maybe we’re only paying him fifty quid a week ? fwiw, I’d be shocked if we sacked a coach when we’re 15th. Just isn’t us
-
I think that’s over the issue with getting him in the summer was his support staff still at Chelsea and under contract

I watched the first half of.the eng aus game and saw the way we contrived to concede the lead from a position of control decided to go to the supermarket rather than watch the second half - didn’t do myself any favours because I missed some great rugby but at least I didn’t put myself through that last five minutes borthwick may not be long for the job - will they go for Cheka or Lancaster again ??

I don’t know what the numbers are you don’t know what the numbers are I don’t know how the last two days evolved neither do you more info is coming out which possibly makes things more nuanced if Israelis are fair game to be be beaten up because they are Israelis (in your opinion) then fine what about the British guys ? I commented this morning that there is a huge difference between people being beaten because they are Israeli football fans and because they are Jewish. If you can’t see the difference then you strongly prove the point why the state of Israel is required and should be protected by Jews at all costs. one day, I or my descendants won’t be welcome to live here - that’s ok, we’re used to it - it’s happened to us many times over the past millennia. I just hope that some of you guys have somewhere to go to if it happens to you. I am now leaving this thread (I did it earlier but couldn’t let your two posts pass - especially the one where you are sad that someone has the temerity to make what you consider to be pro Israel posts ).

Not all of them - no. but I don’t believe anything that comes out of Gaza on all sides (unless it’s accepted by both parties) so it’s impossible to make an informed judgement. Let’s see how the ICJ gets on with South Africa’s 500 boxes of evidence. it took them a long time to get it all together and they asked for an extension beyond end October. not sure how many boxes they felt they needed! I think it’s pretty certain that there will be some breaks of international law but how the court views those is is down to the judges. I doubt there are many wars in history where neither side hasn’t broken international law to some extent. But most won’t come to the ICJ for various technical reasons. (Mostly jurisdiction). I doubt we’ll ever know everything that’s gone on in Gaza, even when this is over. (not sure what your definition of a flick is but it isn’t mine.) i took a couple of weeks away from this thread and it’s probably best I do it again. Otherwise someone will post something they probably shouldn’t and then it will get locked which denies everyone the chance of discussing other stuff.

Yeah - noticed that Turkey will ban them - Turkey and Israel have very poor relations atm and I’d expect Israel to ban fans from travelling too I wonder if uefa will decide to move the game because I can’t see how Turkey can guarantee the safety of the players, given erdogan’s rhetoric

Russia wasn’t attacked by ukraine Russia invaded ukraine with no justification at this time, there is a war ongoing. Many countries are at war. They don’t usually have their teams banned from competition unless it’s unsafe and they can’t play in neutral venues. Lots of countries (inc us) have a pretty poor record of not attacking other countries for their own strategic reasons (often dressed up as other things). do you know how many Kurds were killed by Turkey over the past few weeks ? ‘the second the conflict started’. - 1948? 1967? 1973? The intifadas? 1982? 2006? suspect Israel wouldn’t have tried to destroy Hamas as a response for Oct 7 if they’d known uefa and fifa would exclude them for doing so. That’s sarcasm btw. At this time we have no decision from the ICJ and we don’t even have the arrest warrants issued for BN and YG, despite the level of proof of evidence required for that being of a very low bar. making political and other decisions based on your own judgements isn’t how international law works. we could see that nuance change over the next ten weeks if the UN Security Council actually get their sh#t together and the outgoing USA admin decides to abstain.

I think both was true from some videos I’ve seen where people are clearly attacked for being Jewish. there were British people (Jews) who were out there to watch the game who were assaulted afterwards. Wandering around Amsterdam last night with no colours should not mean you’re assaulted (you can’t assume that anyone Jewish is a maccabi football fan and you also shouldn’t attack someone for being a fan anyway). However, did our fans wander around Naples city centre after our game ??? You’ve got to show a certain level of nouse. But I have seen some videos where three men are forcefully entering a hotel. clearly this will be grabbed by the media and used for propaganda purposes by both sides. the basic message is that people shouldn’t be attacked at a football match or around a football match.

Israel have always played in uefa comps because of the political problems of them playing in African comp (some n African Arab countries were officially at war with Israel for decades) or Asian federation (countries still at war with them). they shouldn’t be banned for political reasons (that may change). There were no problems in braga or bucharest this season but you can’t pick and choose where you’re going to ban away fans based on possible issues. You make a decision based on safety of all supporters. I think we’ve reached the stage where we have to accept that the size of the protests means that safety of players and fans cannot be guaranteed. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is moot - it just fact. Unhappy with the precedent it sets but reality bites.
-
How are the authorities so ignorant? They must have known this was possible I just heard a press conference where Amsterdam police are framing the trouble as football fans fighting. Thats nothing new and it wouldn’t make news what happened last night (and also in Athens) wasn’t to do with football.

Doesn’t seem to have been Correct - bit like spurs here

Predictable and next week France are playing at home to israel Are we approaching the point where uefa have to accept that that Israel should be excluded from their competitions for safety reasons? It shouldn’t have - Ajax has a strong pro Jewish history. Pre game, some Israeli fans were being insulting with anti Arab/palestinian songs (not a surprise) and some fans apparently tore down a Palestinian flag (note that they are football fans). this appeared on social media and after the game, there were many groups wandering the streets looking for Israeli fans to attack - but this became ‘are you Jewish’ rather than. ‘Are you Israeli’. I’ve seen videos where people were beaten up on the basis of whether they were willing to say ‘free Palestine’. there were expectations that Israeli fans would be targeted - it was stupid for them to wander around after the game in small groups rather than making sure that they got back to their hotel rooms quickly. It was either naive or foolhardy. Of course this shouldn’t be the case but you have to live in the real world.

Do we ever sacrifice our principles for desired outcomes? I doubt he’ll offer anything other than what most expect from him but say we get to the end of year 4 and we have a realistic peace scenario in the mid east and the ukraine/russia war having found an acceptable settlement. Is there a level of injustice, day to day, in the states (and possibly elsewhere) that would be worth it? I'm wondering if many of those who have voted for him are simply closing their eyes to what he actually is because they believe he’ll do stuff they think will improve their lives and others too ??? It’s not as stark as those on the left who voted for chirac in France a few years ago when the choice was him or le Penn but in many people’s minds perhaps it was a bit like that.

Who is he starting instead of ?

The aforementioned James O’Brien on LBC had a take on it earlier As with most elections the middle ground waverers decide the outcome (he didn’t say that but we know this ) Trump promised that he would make changes to make you better off Harris didn’t promise anything other than she wasn’t trump that wasn’t enough to ‘trump’ (sorry) the promises from the republicans. A lot will think that it should be but when you’re struggling financially you will generally put money first.

Yes - he misses five games and then is back for ………… us
