Having played in goal for a number of years, I generally found that most takers looked at the ball, then the keeper and then back at the ball I had a technique that if they did look at me then I appeared to be going one way (depending on which footed they were) and then I pushed off in the other direction once they’d looked down. If they’d decided to change their mind because of what they’d seen me doing then I reckon I had a good chance of saving their effort. These guys are pros though so they should do better!

I agree that pick a spot and commit to it is the best policy but if a keeper is going to do that wander to one side then you’re 50/50 unless you’re sticking it down the middle. so always a glance at the keeper before you move your head back down to strike the ball is safer in case he goes like bono did yesterday
