Russia have taken Iranian drone tech and are making their own versions of the shahed. The smashing up of the Iranian armed forces is not good for Russia but I don’t think it will have a notable effect re Ukraine. I think it’s very much not good for the Chinese defence industry and their export drive! Clearly it’s good for the USA and Israeli defence industries (with interception rates on Iranian missiles above 90%.) clearly it’s bad for humanity in the region. Let’s hope that in the end it is good but you wouldn’t bet much on that outcome.

Thought trumps words were interesting. He said we wouldn’t let their planes land which meant that they had to fly way more hours. makes me wonder if they proposed a compromise where they would only use our bases to land after their missions and we still refused. I think Diego Garcia was the primary issue. (Provides a route across sea to Iran with very low likelihood of being picked up by those likely to give any early warning to them)
