Yeah, I think we might have to cave in on some very low release clauses (without making a loss for PSR) in the event of relegation to convince players to join us. This would mean we're probably limited to paying a max of £10-15m for a player with a release clause of 80% of that if we go down next season.

He's an extremely promising player who showed it in the handful of games he played last season. It's not unusual that his progression continues even at a higher level, can think of many examples of that. We might have little choice but to blood him more anyway, likewise Alves and Braybrooke.

Think there'll be some very attractive release clauses in new signings contracts should we go down.

Wouldn't ever risk an ounce of humility about the catastrophic mistakes they've made though will they? Bang on about loyalty and yet our outgoing manager has essentially called our club dishonest at worst and economical with the truth at best in relation to problems that preceded him.

The reaction from our fans sum up why our board haven't faced the scrutiny most clubs would. Why would Enzo stay here when offered the Chelsea job? He's gone on record as saying the club kept him in the dark about our financial problems. Why would he stay when he's challenged the board and owner to make changes in areas that should have come under pressure from the worst relegation in Premier League history and yet those positions remain untouched. Never performance measured, never refreshed. No other serious football club would do that. It's beggars belief. So I ask again, why would he stay here? Chelsea are a basket case but he'll fancy his chances of getting more of a gig there than he will here based on points 1 and 2 above. Chelsea will pull any old stunt to comply with financial issues but bottom line he's sat on a huge pay off now if it goes badly and his reputation won't be majorly tarnished. He's laughing and I don't blame him. I also don't give a flying fcuk he's gone either. We've bigger problems and he's not been here long enough for me to care. Our board and owner have a huge job on their hands to turn this club around and protect our future. The good things that Enzo did will need to be safe guarded and number one priority is the development of academy players on the cusp of the 1st team, that's massively important for next season and if the likelihood of relegation happens that we've 3-4 very talented young players ready to help us try and get back up or be sold for huge money to survive and rebuild.

Hmmmmmm I wonder. This could be the source of the delay in the confirmation. Maybe why we are getting a bigger compensation fee than first reported. Although £8m in 23/24 would be better for us than £10m in 24/25 given our issues. I don't see how it massively impacts Chelsea either way as that £10m is worth £2m to them in the 23/24 accounts. Surely their PSR position is not tipped in the balance one way or the other by £2m.

When did Roberto Vitiello join our club? I swear he was prevented in doing so last summer?
-
Does not fit the profile at all. I always thought he'd end up here and yet he never has (famous last words).
-
I'd be OK with Cooper getting it but I suspect there'll be a bit more to go through before that happens.
-
Depends if we went down on 37 points but was actually 45 points with an 8 point deduction. There might be enough goodwill that we were good enough for a mid table position without the deduction.

Random / Semi Unheard of Players you’ve spotted that we should look at

The two I'd like from there they are trying to sign to new deals - Reuell Walters (has said he wants to leave so compensation will be owed) and Amario Cozier-Duberry. -
Possibly but I think it's not even the culmination of games that's the risk but the sheer impact on the body playing as a modern full back than as a central player in the system Enzo played them. I just don't want us relying on them and them breaking down, it's a risk.
-
I don't see Moyes jumping straight back in this summer. He'll wait.
-
The latter part will require serious priority this summer. Enzo saved Justin's and Ricardo's careers by using them thr way he did. I'm not sure either have the resilience to play that way any longer and not in the PL. So we could possibly need 2-3 new full backs, to go with needing 3 new CM's, at least 1 new CB, 2 wingers and a striker. Ouch.
-
Assistants and coaches wouldn't likely be on more than £500k-1m a year and it would probably be a similar agreement to Maresca of a year or two salary. I reckon a max of £3m for the other staff.
-
Least they can do is let us have a couple of players on loan next season.
-
Not 100% sure, it's certainly a very demanding and stressful way of life regardless of the glory and untold riches that await the very few.

Only just read about Grayson Murray, absolutely tragic. RIP.

Just realised I'm 6 years clean (last week) from this hideous parasite. Will never ever let my guard down as I could be back there in a blink of an eye and mine and my families life in ruins again. For anyone else fighting, keep going you can do it. A life free from gambling is paradise compared to what we put ourselves through.- 513 replies

He's quite flexible in his style of play. He was very much a 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 manager looking to exploit the space with width and attacking full backs. At Forest he really seemed to chop and change to deal with the chaos that he was in charge of. He's used 3 at the back and wingbacks in the past and that was the system he used when he got them promoted but then switched to a back 4 in the Prem. Seems he used 3 at the back on occasions too, usually when up against the better sides. If it was a choice between Potter or Cooper I'd probably side with the latter but I want neither if I'm honest.
-
He's got to hit the ground running. His biggest problem is the amount of players he's got and working out who fits his system and can push the others out very quickly. He did that pretty well with us and it helped get results straight the way.
-
Still shouldn't be anywhere near £130m on wages for 2024/25. The club will have known what was coming last summer and it's unforgivable if the wages for new signings included massive promotion bonuses. Coady and Winks will have already been paid a very good wage hence why they came here. The old guard may well be a problem though in that regard. Its why I think we need to move Justin, Ricardo and a few others on immediately.

Steve Cooper is far better than some are making out. It's his hard yards he's put in at England youth level and then did well at Swansea before going on that mega run at Forest to get them up from the relegation zone. There's other options I'd much rather we were looking at but he'd not be horrendous. He has a track record at improving young players and that's got to be priority number one for us with every appointment.
