  1. Trefoil on that and there'd be some very ugly scenes in bedrooms in and around Leicestershire this evening.
  2. I mean it'll be nothing to do with the money Chelsea would offer him and the almost unlimited transfer budget as they will always find a way around PSR.
  3. Ticks a lot of boxes in that he focuses on squad strengths rather than his one singular way of playing. He's had to work in fairly dire circumstances at times and tends to fair well. I like him but there's also some question marks.
  4. I'd rather Enzo stay than go if a) he manages to persuade Top to move Rudkin aside and b) the financial situation resolves itself to a point that he is able to bring in the required players albeit sensibly. What I do not want to see happen is us bow down to John Morris and offer Enzo an obscene new contract (he's just had a pay rise on promotion) that puts us in further financial jeopardy. The mistakes this club have made precede Maresca and aren't going away any time soon. If there's an agreement to carry on it should be with that in mind and trying to right the wrongs. There's a time and a place for Enzo getting a new contract if and when more is achieved. Let's have it right, his team fell apart and we very nearly blew a one horse race. He's bonded extremely well with this squad and got them aligned with his philosophies very quickly which wasn't guaranteed despite ability wise us having the best squad in the division. If he chooses to go or we cannot give him the players he requires for his unwavering style of play then as I've said for a long time, no hard feelings. I'd not lose any sleep over him going. Plenty to like about him, plenty to be irritated and concerned that he's not the right fit for the situation we're in but he may well adapt better.
  5. McKenna seems set to go to Brighton, that's a big insult to Chelsea.
  6. The EFL don't allow it so pointless us doing it in the accounting period we were a Championship club.
  7. That list is pretty shocking for a club of Chelsea's size 😂
  8. Yes, they'd need to be broadly aligned. As it stands we need 2 CB's, a full back, 3-4 CM's, 2 wingers and a striker. A different formation or system would require a few more full backs as I'm extremely concerned that Ricardo and Justin can play attacking full back roles without breaking down.
  9. Can't see him leaving Celta Vigo. Just realised he left 😂😂😂
  10. What we do know is our owners are obsessed with possession football, I just don't see them compromising on thst after following on from Ranieri with Shakespeare. Top's even more blinkered, look at the comments Enzo said on their 1st meeting to become manager.
  11. Interesting. It's always a risk picking a manager with very little 1st team experience but it can be done!
  12. They had a £1.5m option on him as his contract was up but as they've opted not to, Antwerp have automatically extended it so I suspect are now asking for more given the PL interest.
  13. I've tried to find out why he left, general consensus is it was him opting to leave because he didn't like the way the club was ran off the field. I like that about a manager. Challenge them and leave if you don't get what you think is important. Don't hang about for £50m.
  14. Looks very clumsy on the ball, I know looks can be deceiving but it's scary how effortlessly capable Soumare looks at receiving the ball and taking players on or progressing the ball but equally how poor he looks at running a midfield. I do like us scouting the £2-5m range of players though. Huge gains to be had.
  15. Yeah quite possibly but we should be able to compete in terms of wages and the offer of PL football. However if I were him I'd go there 😂
  16. Big fan of this list. I reckon van Nistelrooy might come in to the equation too. No PL management experience but impressive at working with and bringing through academy and/or young players at PSV.
  17. I'm interested to know what Jordan James price will be as he's strong, tall, box to box, tackles well, scores and creates. This lad looks to be a defensive midfielder like Ndidi that if we deploy further forward will be workmanlike at best. Not that we don't need another defensive midfielder.
  18. You've had a howler son.
  19. He is a fantastic talent. Watford are extremely proficient at recruiting South American players cheaply and developing them.
  20. The key will be in our defensive structure. I don't think we'll score goals as freely as how Rodgers set us up as for all Rodgers weaknesses his teams always score goals. However he was pretty poor at getting that balance right in defensive structure hence we fell apart. Enzo was extremely strong at building the team to be positionally aware in both defence and attack and this will need to be even more efficient next season. We saw signs in the latter part of the season where this was being exposed and the game vs Chelsea scared the shit out of me with this squad of players. My criticism of Enzo is his lack of pragmatism and that will be even more a concern in the Premier League. Playing an inverted full back and two slow CB's in a high line is footballing suicide but naturally we may well drop deeper and concede more possession and as a result have a little less exposure but not so sure that will be Enzo's preferred way of playing but hopefully he realises where it helps us most. I'm genuinely not arsed if he stays or goes. Plenty to like about him, plenty to be concerned about him. He doesn't deserve a new contract yet and we need to learn our lessons in promising and giving managers what we can't sustain. This next year or two could be horrid and we can't sugar coat it. If he's not the man for such a job then no hard feelings.
  21. Angelino I think they did but no, they haven't been known to very often.
  22. Player value is a fascinating area. Clubs like Man City get huge money for their academy players when they've achieved very little, but by the same token if McAtee was our player and coming off the back of 9 goals and 4 assists in the Championship in 2022/23 we'd be disappointed if we sold a 20 year old English player for less than £20m. It does seem far too much though given his season in the PL has been pretty average, albeit for a very poor team. I've no issue with buy back or sell on clauses though. To me this is the sort of deal that should be £10m with a £35m buy back clause and/or 20% sell on clause.
  23. Man City in the past have agreed to buy back clauses double/treble the selling price.
  24. £10m compensation before the end of June may well come in handy.
