Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'
Ric Flair replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Which we would have met had we sold Barnes earlier. That would have meant we wouldn't have been able to spend anything last summer bar loans, frees and small transfers but we evidently opted to go for it. -
I think Enzo has taught us that he's reluctant to make changes to his preferred team when results and performances aren't right. This has turned (still plenty of work to do) but he may well now have more confidence for make changes as weird as that sounds. Ricardo needs to be managed so carefully, as does Ndidi.
-
He's crucial to this team for several reasons and a) his quality is ridiculous at this level and b) he is the only player we have who plays the role Enzo's system requires that doesn't expose us off the ball due to his awareness and ability. It's arguably saved his career as well as its had less strain on his body and long may that continue but if we go up, the demands of it in the PL maybe different. POTS for me.

It very much depends on recruitment. I've said before that Martyn Glover's track record is patchy and as a club I still think the profile of player we go for in the financial circumstance we have found ourselves in (or were heading for) is out of kilter. Enzo may well have his own targets but we've seen how badly that can go wrong before so a balance needs to be struck. We also cannot recruit players and get rid of players that leaves us significantly imbalanced - for example at full back. If Enzo does leave at some point then it hampers the successor. It is in defence where the attributes of the players is key. It tends to cost a lot of money to get players that can play an inverted full back role as successfully as Ricardo and who knows if even he's good at it at a higher level. At centre half as well we need a player or two that is quick and exceptional on the ball, this requires masterful player identification and/or significant amount of money. Finding dynamic midfielders and attackers shouldn't be as difficult and we'll have to be clever in our signings. I've looked at players out of contract across Europe this summer and it's probably the weakest array of players I've seen for some time. If funds are extremely tight then I do think we'll target the likes of Callum O'Hare and Harrison Burrows for two key roles. Miranda at Real Betis and Rafa from Benfica (we scout them a lot and have been linked with him in the past) would be ideal as well but wages might be a problem.

He was better than he had been but we don't get the passing angles and fluid play anywhere near as well. That said, we had periods of dominant play with Justin at LB for months so it's not a huge weakness of ours if he is back to his best.

Random / Semi Unheard of Players you’ve spotted that we should look at

Harrison Burrows contract up in the summer too. I mentioned him a while back ad a potential cheap pick up to mould in to a LCB or inverted full back. -

Leeds have now dropped points in 3 of their last 6 games I think.
-
It will be €2m per season across 5 years if we have. Fatawu will be £14m across 5 years (£2.8m) which is the least of our worries.
-
Hermansen Justin (DO NOT PLAY INVERTED) Vestergaard Coady Doyle Praet Winks KDH Yunus Vardy Mavididi
-
Especially as they play them in their next 3 games where they won't yet be out of the play off running.
-
I tend to agree. I think he suits a two up front system and him being the slightly withdrawn role to find space. That said, he looked much better for us with Yunus in the 10 role behind him rather than our normal set up of two 8's. If Ndidi is back up to full throttle and there's more fluidity to our attacks then he could also thrive a bit more as he'd get space to unleash his strongest asset - finishing.

I've had that norris from thesecondtier podcast dig up a bookmarked tweet of mine where I questioned their stance in the summer that Ellis Simms was a bargain at £8m but Tom Cannon was overpriced for the same fee. They both had pretty identical half season stats last season. Simms has now had a ridiculous 2 months and Cannon barely plays but it was a flawed call at the time.

I've been sent some stuff from a few fans that were drinking after the game opposite the ground and when the players came out to get back on the bus he was brilliant with the fans. Stood chatting for a while and agreed we needed to improve significantly.
-
Same. Do not play inverted full back, we can still do most of our way of playing and keep a proper shape defensively. They will try and flood the flanks.
-
We play through the lines against teams so much quicker and fluidly if Doyle is on the left. Teams cannot get their banks of players behind the ball as easily, I hope he comes back in again soon as Justin hasn't been very effective down that side for a few months now.

Was a class act after the Bristol City defeat with fans too (outside of the ground)

Has formed a real bond with the Leicester faithful

Glad he came on and had an impact. Still isn't decisive enough in front of goal but I like his creativity. If players like Sarmineto can come on and effect games most weeks, a player of Yunus's talent can as well. Big part to play over these remaining 6 games 🙏

Had a brick in his left boot 2nd half, cannot get the weight of pass right for love nor money. With the right coaching and buy in from his part he is set to become a top player but he's a long way to go. His defensive work is exemplary though, which makes him such an important team player as the creative stuff is ticking over as well.
-
Our defensive record for a team with the amount of quality we have is actually becoming quite ordinary. Freak mistakes will happen when you play out from the back and you have to weigh it up in the entire process but we actually give away a lot of cheap goals that aren't a consequence of the system but just appalling concentration and desire. 2024 we've defended very poorly overall IMO.

Patson Daka is going to score today

Ellis Simms is world class

Already beaten these twice this season and they caused us problems for periods of both games. The same with Millwall who we face on Tuesday too. Got to be on it and make it 3 from 3 against both, we can no longer afford anyone a point against us. That's the mentality required.
-
The international break may well have stunted Norwich's rhythm. They looked very poor against us and had struggled by all accounts in the game they came back and won vs Plymouth on Good Friday. This is the game they need to get up for, but Wagner is another manager who's sides are incredibly streaky and can suddenly drop off for large periods. Coventry are the more resilient of the two sides. They will relish this today.
