  1. Yeah I agree. I actually think he's done worse for them since making all these exciting signings in January. They've been largely disappointing over a similar period to us in 2024.
  2. Seagrave will be like a ghost town.
  3. I'm not so sure PSR has caused this, the exponential popularity of the Premier League and there sheer wealth has caused this. Every PL side has benefitted from that in recent years vs the rest of Europe hence why muck like Bournemouth can sign players ahead of the likes of AC Milan, Marseille etc. The gulf between the big 6 and the rest is commercial revenue. Spurs didn't increase theirs massively because of PSR to the detriment to the rest of the league, they have had a specific plan that at times has frustrated their fanbase but it's enabled them to stay relatively close to the rest. I suppose the only club right now that is truly hamstrung by PSR vs the big 6 is Newcastle. If it was unlimited spending they would make an absolute mockery of the rest, including Man City and I'm not so sure that would be a wholesome experience for the rest of us. PSR in its current guise is flawed and it needs changing but I don't see what can occur that really levels the playing field.
  4. He means us. One of only 6 clubs that win multiple major honours.
  5. Commercial revenue is their only way, or getting access to Champions League repeatedly. I'm not against unlimited owner investment but it would not benefit most clubs and probably not us. It will further inflate transfer fees and wages too. Anyway, this all seems pretty futile as UEFA don't seem to be changing their rules so any club qualifying for Europe will eventually have to comply with spending only 70% of their revenue.
  6. There isn't a level playing field, the big 6 earn hundreds of millions in commercial revenue over and above the rest of us. The level playing field is limits on what clubs can spend that on or its pooled and shared around alarm NFL (that would be outrageous).
  7. I know but there's been arguments in Everton's case that high interest has caused them to breach and with us the hike in interest on the loans we have with the Aussie bank will have further impacted on our losses and PSR. Our argument is PSR prevents us trying to be ambitious which maybe valid but I'd counter there's things we are opting not to do that would lessen our loss and they're choosing not to. If PSR is removed and owners can pump in their own money, it's not much different to fronting the loans themselves and not charging any interest or even better, injecting the money directly with no repayment due.
  8. One final one from me for now... There was never a scenario that we wouldn't have breached 22/23 from planning that season back in June/July 2022. We didn't want to sell Fofana and yet despite selling him and Maddison for a £75m pure profit to the accounts we still lost £90m. What the club aren't saying in all of this when they give the reasons for how we've got to where we've got ro is their complete and utter failure to sell fringe players or players approaching less than 1-2 years on their contracts. Somewhere in their forecasts back then must have been to raise north of £100m for the likes of Tielemans, Soyuncu, Praet etc and they received ZERO. They won't publicise that though will they, oh no.
  9. For those who are still very much in the mindset that PSR is a load of bull shit and owners should be allowed to spend what they like, please can you consider why our ownership has opted to regularly take out loans with this Australian bank despite hikes in interest rates that have led to the unforeseen increases in our costs. If our owners were as cash rich as many think they can be, in the pursuit of footballing glory, then why aren't they funding this and saving us millions? We'd be blown out of the water even more than we currently do, by clubs with more resource than us if PSR was entirely removed. It would inflate transfer fees and wages even more so. Whilst there are limitations in place, it seems suspicious that an ambitious club who wants to be able to spend more wouldn't maximise their financial flexibility by saving paying out millions in interest and that makes it a further struggle to comply.
  10. I think there's a very real possibility that Brendan was not only entitled to his entire remaining salary but also paid in full in the year in which he was sacked. They've certainly led with having to remove Brendan as a huge causation of the losses. If it could be ascertained how much him and his staff were paid to be removed it would shine a light on this theory. If this is the case then it is simply staggering. We cannot claim to be a serious football operation that back in 2019/20 and less than a year in to his original contract and in no way were we backed up by top 6 finishes yet, that we signed off on a potential £50m liability if he were to be sacked that at any point would cause an unforeseen increase in expenditure and a potential PSR breach given you can only post £105m ACROSS 3 seasons. Not only that but that it would be paid up in full rather than over the remaining financial years. If that is the case then it almost negates any mitigating circumstances because the stupidity is beyond comprehension.
  11. Will try and get him on the pod..... 😂
  12. Hector Kyprianou at Peterborough ticks all the boxes as the sort of physical and dynamic midfielder than can play as a CDM or an 8 and scores goals too.
  13. £40m per season amortisation, so not necessarily. All depends what their wage bill is like when they go back up. They have a lot of loaned out players that they will need to do something with. We'd struggle to sell such players but they probably didn't pay them what we pay ours.
  14. Ipswich may well be overperforming but this is what momentum, confidence, belief and a hell of a lot of maximising your ability can do. We've done it before. It's very difficult to do but when you do it's often more resilient and powerful than what can be achieved with paying for perceived quality alone. Fair play to them. They're identity seems a lot harder to counteract than ours in recent months, their transfer window has been pretty remarkable.
  15. Wouldn't help us.
  16. Quite possibly, I don't think he's thst strong in any of those areas of his game yet in this system but quite possibly why he looked more effective at Preston where he was behind their striker in a front two. I'd like to see him as our 9 when Ndidi is back to full fitness and there's a lot more movement from the two 8's and then the wingers as well. Should make it all more fluid.
  17. They'll be OK for 23/24 as a result because they've booked a huge amount of sales in this year.
  18. I could be wrong but I think he's a 2 up front type striker (like most of the strikers we sign) and therefore unsuitable under the last few regimes. He played in a front two at Preston where he did really well and I think his lack of explosive pace may hamper him in our current system, as does Iheanacho. He's a really good finisher and is an intelligent player so there's plenty to his game that should make him an asset but one I'm left scratching my head why we signed him for Maresca's style of football.
  19. Whilst it's nice to remember what 3 points feels like again and some pisitivity return, the financial issues are going to intensify this week and beyond and how this effects us will be very important.

    Daka

I agree to a point but that effectiveness he brought to us which was badly needed at the time has now been replaced with a catalogue of gilt edged misses that cost us points and possibly promotion (not all on him of course). Sadly the momentum he built has evaporated and the bloke so badly needs a goal it's unreal.
  21. He is going to have to make more changes than he has in recent weeks. He cannot expect the same 12-13 players he trusts to deliver over this slug fest of a next month. No other of our rivals would do that and it's a hindrance if he does. Hopefully our key players return to form and build on today which may convince him to rotate a little more which ought to help keep us fresh.
  22. Cov vs Leeds is big, Leeds lost their shit against them at Elland Rd and Cov revel in upsetting teams and having a bit of bother. Leeds away from home can be got at too.
  23. One small modicum of comfort is, in order for Cov to get 6th, they are likely going to have to take points off one of Leeds or Ipswich which makes our chances of top 2 a little better. If they don't and we end up 3rd then I'd be more confident of Norwich or Preston over 2 legs than them. Clutching at straws.
  24. Only thing that prevents him being a PL player is his mentality. He's improved his shooting technique overall and I think his overall dribbling, passing and crossing is good enough but he can let games get the better of him. Sublime finish today, might be my favourite of all his goals. That dink is naughty.
