Tories guaranteed to not even break 130 seats
-
Brexit hard man Steve Baker holding it together quite well actually.
-
I will also add that the Tories were thrashed in 97 and that Major government was miles better that the current one.
-
They were always going to lose the battle on rhetoric following the financial crash. Cameron and Osborne had successfully convinced the country that the fall out from the financial crash was the fault of the New Labour administration, when the crash was caused by American firms investing in sub-prime mortgages. I will accept that we could have been better protected from the financial crash but that is because New Labour had continued to deregulate the financial sector up until the crash. However, that would have been far worse if we had a conservative government because they wanted even more deregulation throughout that period. It's also worth mentioning that David Cameron was considered a modern and dynamic leader that had made the tories electable again. Gordon Brown was looking more washed up, as a lot of Prime Ministers do towards the the fag end of a government (see John Major in the 90s) and his campaign tanked with the "bigoted woman" comment and the right-wing newspapers that New Labour had won over had all turned. Everything pointed towards defeat and even then, their defeat wasn't anywhere near as devastating as the tories are going to face today.

I will be voting Green tomorrow. Not that I believe 100% in their policy platform. Frankly, I think some of their policies, notably the 10:1 pay ratio limit for companies, are ridiculous. However, I agree with them strongly on wealth taxes, nationalising water, rail and mail and their stance on Israel/Gaza. I'm voting for them to effectively be a pressure group on the Labour Party. If Labour want my vote in future, they'll have to offer me more than what they're currently doing.

Positives on the impending Cooper appointment
BenTheFox replied to CrazyKopCorner's topic in Leicester City Forum
A manager that was sacked by Forest who were in relegation form (in a normal season) was always going to be very underwhelming. The other thing is it's a complete diversion from the possession-based managers we've had over the past 6/7 years. The club said when Maresca left that they are looking for a manager to continue the long-term vision. I, and I'm sure many others, were thinking "how the hell does Steve Cooper fit into that?" after we've had Puel, Rodgers and Maresca. A Forest fan I spoke to did say that how they played in the championship was much different to how they played for the bulk of the time that he was managing in the Premier League. He also said that the number of signings was clearly at odds with what he wanted. -
What exactly is this "gender ideology" that is supposedly being taught in schools? I'm not convinced there is an ideology, transgender people just exist. Just sounds like more right-wing conspiracy theory to me.

I have the theme tune to 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' reading that...

How is a 'party' that is registered as a limited company allowed to stand in a general election? Maybe it's naive of me but I thought electiom rules would have been tighter than that.
-
OK, I've had my sulk and now I'm getting to grips with it. Very good first interview. You can see why he built a really good rapport with the Forest fans when he was there. Hopefully he proves me wrong. STEEEVVVIIIEEE COOPER.
-
Yeah, people forget how fortunate Forest were to win some of the games they won in their first season back in the premier league. They were either saved by top class goalkeeping performances from Henderson/Navas or woeful finishing from the opposition. In terms of quality, the game where they beat us 2-0 at the city ground was pretty much as bad as it gets at the top level of English football. We were hopeless at the time but even in that game we missed a couple of brilliant chances from Barnes which would have put us in front.

Positives on the impending Cooper appointment

Maybe he might be able to find roles for some of our players that have been utilised properly like Souttar and Coady? -
Pearson had just kept Southampton in the championship at our expense when we appointed him. I felt at the time that Ranieri's four game stint at Greece wasn't a fair representation.
-
I acknowledge that. I'm just trying to kind any positive where I can.
-
The only plus is that people will stop moaning about us passing too much. The GERRIT FORWARD brigade should love it.
-
I will back him when the time comes but I have to say that this is a rancid symbol of our decline. Completely incoherent appointment and completely tone-deaf from those running the club. You'd be going back twenty-years for the last time I was this underwhelmed by a managerial appointment.
-
Seeing loads of rightoids getting excited by this. I wouldn't trust Matt Goodwin as far as I could throw him.
-
I said earlier that I don't mind us changing direction, but if we're going to do that at least change direction for a manager that has a proven track record at the level of football that well be playing at.
-
Him having managed Forest in itself isn't really an issue for me. Would you have turned down Brian Clough if he'd become available to manage us in the early/mid-80s? The issue for me is that I don't think he's a Premier League level manager and his football is a world away from what we have been trying to achieve over the past 6/7 years.
-
It's not just that he's a big diversion from the direction we've taken over the past 6/7 years, it's that he's not changing direction for. If we were to go for a manager that was a big change in direction but was a sensible option, I get support it. Cooper has a points per game ratio of 0.8 in the premier league.
-
I've always thought that he's a bit overrated. However, I'd be happy with this appointment. He's probably the best manager that we can realistically hope for and his style is inkeeping with what we're trying to do. I'm surprised that he'd consider coming to us with the looming points deduction and PSR issues. Maybe, he sees it as somewhat of a free hit. If we have a decent season with him and get 50 points but are hit with an obscene points deduction of 15 and that sees us relegated, his stock will be high.

Has anyone actually read Reform's manifesto or "contract with the people"? It's a ghastly cocktail of unfunded tax cuts, austerity, dogwhistles and conspiracy theories.
-
Just give me Jonathan Gullis crying at 4am having lost his seat. It's what we live for.
-
Oh, if a party that promised less privatisation and investment in public services but were more socially conservative on issues such as crime, immigration etc. They'd absolutely clean up.

When Farage said "Up the 'RA" at the end of one of those paid for messages for the sum of £87. Some patriot. Also, him comparing Ireland being invaded by the British, where they were tortured, starved, killed and discriminated against, to being part of the EU is deeply insulting.
