There is pressure though, time pressure. We either get rid of him quick or let him linger clearly unhappy and not giving his all where he either plays shite or rots in the reserves. We need to get rid of him so asking for stupid fees is not really an option. The timing of this stinks, good riddance to the twot.

Absolutely brilliant level headed post which sums up everything perfectly. Nothing is won or lost at this stage, and with it almost certainly going to be a struggle, the support v Spurs was brilliant and we need that every home game and play out of our skins to get results and make it uncomfortable for teams visiting. It's not Coopers fault we have lost our best player and struggling to get players in.

Groundbreaking

People havent neceessarily got an issue with the player it's the fact we have hardly any decent scoring options and have signed a MF for 20m when our budget isn't big. This kind of money needed to be dropped on a player who can potentially get 10-15 goals.
-
Not really. Winks was half the price and we were in the league below. And last year we better attacking options than we currently do which is a joke.
-
Skipp, Winks, Ndidi might just be the most boring non scoring non creative midfield in the history of ever. £5 to £10m ok not bad but £20m?????? Absolute pisstake. So for 5m more we could have had Carvalho, apparently we couldn't afford Nelson, were unwilling to pay more to borrow Zaha, didn't want to pay for Hlozek upfront but now we buy this nothing average midfielder for £20m????? I give up.

Tottenham (H) - Mon 19 Aug 8pm - Pre-Match Thread

Hermansen ( feel sorry for him) Justin ( poor last season better at RB but VK is shite and Thomas is a league 2 player) Faes ( bull in a china shop, loose Cannon, deer in headlights, mental frizzy haired buffoon) Vestergaard (ok in a poor league, but nowhere near good enough against fast agile footballers with brains which he will face every week. Ricardo ( rare prem standard player) Winks ( see above) Ndidi ( best years are behind him, injury prone) Brighton loan dude ( speaks for itself) Bobby Reid ( nothing free transfer signing 5 goals a season average Joe type player one of ten million 75 rated players on FIFA) Mavididi ( the fact he will play upfront or Reid shows the shambles we are) Fatawu ( lovable character with some great pace and skill, but every erratic and inconsistent, hope he settles in the prem) That team will worry, frighten or concern absolutely nobody at all. I see no one in that team apart from maybe Mavididi capable of ten goals. I see no goals from midfield at all really. I see no strength in depth, no quality anywhere on the pitch, and I think we could have a huge awakening on Monday. All I ask Is the players give 100 per cent and try and kick the shit out of spurs even if we lose. -
The thing is Ipswich haven't got a massive wage bill, losers like Daka and Soumare on 70k a week stinking out the place, and a bright young manager, they are riding the crest of a wave, they are bound to have more optimism. This pre season has been as grim as I can remember. We might as well have not got promoted, because we are going to be humiliated. I mean starting the season with Daka (useless and injured) Vardy ( old and always injured) and Cannon ( why did we sign him) as our strikers is suicide. Why have we waited until the last week or two to bid for players we wanted? Losing a player to Roma or for tax reasons is ok but Hoffenheim???? Fook my life. I think we better Jordan Ayew in quick before he chooses Wycombe or Grimsby ahead of us. Shambles form top to bottom.
-
This hasn't been spoken about enough, our midfield, along with our strikeforce, is dreadful and in the premier League it just won't wash. We need to ship Cannon on loan and bring in at least one striker seeing as it's apparent Daka will be here until the end of time and Vardy will have to play until he's 47. And ideally I would want Soumare gone and at the very least one box to box player and one attack minded MF.
-
It won't though will it. One or two will shout sort it out or boo but it won't change anything. Most will sit in silence, or leave with 30 mins to go like usual
-
People think Mavididi and Fatawu will be good enough despite never playing in the prem and having less impressive seasons than Smodzics.
-
Well I did say world class FORM not world class opponents or that he's a world class player I'm not dense. But 34 goals in 48 games is pretty good going in anyone's books at any level. The thing is someone with similar stats, like Gyokeres for example is considered brilliant. The championship is better than most European leagues and is a eamn good standard. I'm just going with my instinct I think he's got what it takes.
-
Well yeah every signing is a gamble and not guaranteed to do well, but sometimes players from lower divisions just need a chance.
-
I don't care about his age, he's currently in world class form, has clearly carried this form on from last season, regardless of opponents, anyone who knows football can tell this guy has something a bit extra. His finishes are natural, stylish and he can also link play. I don't care about his previous seasons where he was on the wing or a number 10, he is currently one of the hottest strikers around and someone is bound to take a punt on him. Players like Ivan Toney, Vardy were late bloomers, Drogba was bought at 26, Ian Wright at 26, it's not a necessity to be a teenager and break onto the scene,.some players just blossom later. I'd put money on Smodzics being a hit wherever he goes, he's a good footballer and will easily fit in on the prem.
-
Never a dull moment. Are we signing Bergwijn, Zaha and Hlozek? If so that's some decent fire power.
-
The people saying we are developing Brightons players are talking nonsense. If we stay up and have a good season and he likes it here and Brighton fans nosh in a similar position like mid table lower mid table then what's stopping us being able to get him permanently? We are newly promoted with a points deduction pending, we won't be getting superstars. I like this signing, can play and get stuck in, young and hungry to impress, better than an overthe hill Ayew.
-
Completely agree. We clearly don't have the money to actually try and compete, or more correctly we aren't allowed to spend the money we need to. We have nowhere near enough quality and most weeks will just be trying to stay in the game.
-
Mads Ricardo Winks Ndidi Mavididi Fatawu Vardy 4 new signings
-
So basically another decent player that doesn't want to be here, running theme of the whole summer. Oh but we splashed most of our budget in a CB we didn't need that no one ever heard of.
-
I love this take everyone has that he got nearly 30 goals but won't have another good season. He was the best player we played against last season in my opinion, can play as a 10 or a 9, links play, can finish. Anyone you buy is a gamble, but someone who got 30 goals in a crap team is probably worth a gamble.
-
This guy will be like McAtee in Sheffield Utd. Stand out a lot in a poor team and ultimately do himself no harm in playing every week and impressing. He's better than McAtee probably aswell and isnt looking out of place in Liverpools team in their pre season. If we can get some sort of deal done around the 20-25m mark then we should do it because he's the best we are going to get. But bigger and better sides will jump on this I feel if he is available for that price. From here and Europe. I even think he might stay at Liverpool, he's a good player.
-
This is exactly the type of player we need. Dynamic, can score and create, two feet, and young. Get him in guarantee him games and sign a striker.

Saturday 3 August v FC Augsburg pre-season friendly
Foxy_jim replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
Didn't watch today as I can't be arsed with pre season, but bottom line is we don't have enough quality at all. I'd say we've lost our best player and not replaced him, and have much less quality than when we were relegated, with no Barnes, Maddison or Tielemans. Where are the goals coming from? Apart from Vardy we have no proven goals in the team. I would go as far as to say only Winks, Ricardo, Hermansen and Vardy are definitely prem level, there's questions over EVERY other player. When you look at who we will be up against it's worrying in the extreme. On top of that is a points deduction at some point too, which depending on the timing could be demoralising. I think Spurs will run riot and it's a long season ahead. -
I feel O'Riley will go to a much better team than us. Hamer was ok in a relegated side but nothing special and Sheffield utd will probably want to rip us off for him. Sara would be the best bet but can't see us being the only club in for him, and we will cost at least £20m. It's a difficult balancing act between going for the likes of Soule, Nelson, Sara who will cost 15-20m or more or players like Ayew who will be fairly cheap but have pren experience and might help us stay up in the short term. What worries me is at least under Enzo we had a clear identity. We play this way and he moulded players and bought players to suit that way of playing and would have continued that now this season. Instead we have a new manager and no clear way of how we will play what style what formation etc what transfer strategy.
