I wanted it to work out and give marti time but after 4 months there is very little to suggest a Pearson style renaissance under him. It's hard to know how any manager could come in and work wonders under this setup You certainly would have next to no confidence in Topkin spotting a good manager anyway.

What a magnificent 4 days for Ireland. I'd say the best days in well over a decade. And not just our typical plucky 1-1 or 1-0 result. We went for it. I can't remember a time we scored 3 goals against half decent opposition. No one would have predicted this after Armenia. It would be hard to top Northern Ireland in 93 or Holland in 01 but yesterday is right up there. Qualification will be tough but something of a blueprint now for us going forward one would hope. Oh and would the powers that be in Leicester ever look to someone like Heimar Hallgrimsson to try and get us going rather than someone with promises of Pep ball.
