I have seen most of these and from it would recommend Appolosa, Hostiles and Quigley Down Under, if only for Alan Rickman’s classic sardonic villain.
-
Yes there was some damning evidence against her, so not surprised with the guilty verdict.
-
Does no one feel that Djokovic has one more Wimbledon left in him?
-
From a heart attack do you mean? Bound to have been featured on “Ripley’s believe it or not” at some time.
-
Long way still to go for Alcaraz, but he is good enough to match Borg’s 5 Wimbledons achieved by the age of 24.
-
Tell that to the dead one lying on the side of the kerb, that I saw when walking to the shops this afternoon.
-
Even more reason the men should continue to play 5 sets in the slams, emphasising how special those tournaments are.
-
Quality 5 set match. Well done Norrie.
-
Someone coming back from two sets down, or two sets to one down is what makes five set play exciting. For many players it takes a set to just settle down and play their natural game. Three set play, even in the earlier rounds for me wouldn’t do justice to the competition.
-
His next opponent de Minaur is the polar opposite, but I would still expect Djokovic to March on.
-
Djokovic at 38 is unreal. Can see another final with Alcaraz, unless they meet before.

We have our fair share of imbeciles. -

I wrote the comment below back in September. Now that he has been charged, let the courts get on with it. I assume there is still the presumption of innocent until proven guilty. Let’s ask Benjamin Mendy shall we. As for the club the timing does indeed stink. -
Another unhinged Trump speech, says he didn’t know the term ‘Shylock’ was anti-semitic! Amongst other nonsense says that because it didn’t rain on his military parade it’s another reason to dispute climate change. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-shylock-antisemitic-iowa-rally-b2782477.html

Johanssen most probably, but Krajicek does not deserve that description. As well as winning Wimbledon and steam rolling a virtually unbeatable Sampras, he reached the semi finals of the Australian and French and quarters of the US in his career. He also held a positive win ratio against Sampras and I suspect few players achieved that.
-
Hold on, Draper is only 23! Plenty of opportunities to come.
-
Yes probably right. Draper had the impetus going into that 4th set, but never really looked comfortable. Cilic of course has always excelled on grass.
-
Draper on the comeback trail hopefully. Cilic’s ball toss is very irritating. It’s a two parter and seems to take ages.
-
Very sad news. He was clinical in the box and particularly good in the air.

World Football Thread 2024/25

Giroud played a dozen seasons in England and Italy and never scored more than 16 league goals in a season, so yes he was not prolific. He might score 4 in a row and then not score again for 15 games. He played more games for France than Henry, but they do have a similar goals per game record. So no ‘mad disrespect’, good player, but just not a top striker. -

One of the strangest careers ever. A striker, but never a prolific goalscorer, who played at some top clubs and won a ton of medals, but will imo never be considered a top player. -
I was n’t as invested emotionally in the characters this time around and not a particularly satisfying outcome.

Could not see this as a recent topic, so thought I would start this one, prompted by hearing this early noughties hit, Another Chance Roger Sanchez. Loads out there of course, but definitely one of my favourites! 0:23 the chorus of “I’d rather take a bath with Ainsley Harriott”.

Gone but not forgotten and certainly not the death list

Yes he was 97!
