Alves probably needs protecting a bit due to a recent knock. Think we will see him and Burns subbing on for one another pretty much every game this season.

Cullen and BDCR will interchange I’d imagine. It looks like Russell is planning on using a fairly fluid forward line. Will be x2 of Cullen, Chaplin, BDCR and Bristrić up top. And then x2 of Alves, Mavididi, Watson and Burns on the wings. And then x2 of Page, Braybrooke, Hamza and Skipp at CM.

Cullen has been wearing a 11 in preseason so far, so not sure where that leaves Alves. The others potentially right. Suspect either JJ or Aluko for the no. 2.

I think Page is backup to Braybrooke personally, so should get plenty of minutes still. Obviously Cullen can play CAM as well but think we will see him as a false 9 alongside Chaplin/ BDCR quite a bit as well. Skipp/ Hamza Braybrooke/ Page Chaplin/ BDCR Cullen/ Bristrić

He’s on what £20kpw, but only got a 1 year contract at Ipswich. I imagine we have offered him something like a 3 year deal (or 2+1) on £10kpw with a 50% pay rise on promotion?!

No way should we be spending money on a back up RW. Top is gambling hard on us going up first time.

Great pod and Methven is a really interesting listen. Interesting/ worrying that he suggested the club probably think they’ve done a good job cutting costs etc but are still no where near where we need to be!!! Also we know Top is a gambler, and you get the sense in the business we’ve done so far that they have made some effort to reduce costs, whilst simultaneously spending on “proven” players in the hope of bouncing straight back and therefore Top/ KP achieving a reasonable sale price. Which feels like a massive gamble, that we have to promote this season, otherwise we could be in all sorts of trouble next year….
