Surely someone would take McAteer or Wanya off our hands for £10mil pure profit or so..? If we returned the favour with a similarly outrageous deal.
-
Seems to be some odd moves going on in the rest of the Premier League… presumably to satisfy PSR rules with academy (pure profit) players moving between Villa, Everton and Chelsea Maatsen - Chelsea to Villa £37m Omari Kellyman (who?!) - Villa to Chelsea £19m Lewis Dobbin - Everton to Villa £10m Tim Iroegbunam - Villa to Everton £9m Also Douglas Luiz - Villa to Juve €28m + Illing Junior + Enzo Barrenechea Michael Olise - Palace to Bayern £50m

As usual, place to discuss other clubs transfer business.

So we could lineup as below, normally. Put Ricardo as CM due to lack of alternatives, and think this position could suit him more moving forwards. Mads Justin - Vesty - Faes - Kristiansen Ricardo - Winks Fatawu - KDH - Mavididi Vardy Which then transitions to the below once in possession. Ie. Kristiansen providing the width on the left hand side and Mavididi cutting infield? Mads Justin - Vesty - Faes Ricardo - Winks Fatawu - KDH - Mavididi - Kristiansen Vardy

You want to watch Enzo ball watch England.

Genuinely nothing like Enzo ball tactically. For a start Enzo would probably have Trafford or even Jason Steele in goal. Trent inverting from RB etc -
Gutted if so. Think I’d rather have RVN to Potter
-
How do we think he’ll set up? 4-2-3-1? Based on what we currently have, and Coopers track record bringing through youth players. Hermansen Justin - Faes - Vesty - Kristiansen Ricardo - Winks Fatawu - KDH - Mavididi Vardy Stolarczyk New RB - Nelson - Coady - Thomas? Hamza - Braybrooke New RW - Alves - McAteer Cannon
-
How many backroom staff do you normally have?? Was it 5 or so Enzo had?? Assistant Manager - Alan Tate? First Team Coach - Andy King? Goalkeeper Coach - ? Fitness Coach - ? Set Piece Coach - ? We also need an U21 Coach as well. Who else has Cooper worked with before?

Positives on the impending Cooper appointment

He’s not OGS, Lampard, Wazza, Parker or Stevie G or any of the atrocious options out there. I would put him more in the “underwhelming” category. But could be worse as above. -

Decent track record bringing through youth. is what I’m clinging to -
If it is to be Cooper as expected, imagine this could be announced this evening. Conveniently masked by the England game.
-
The Gerrit Forward brigade are gonna love Steve Low-block Cooper. “LoNg TErM amBitIOn” Ward Ricardo - Souttar - Coady - Vesty - Kristiansen Winks - KDH Fatawu - Vardy - Mavididi
-
Presuming this is based on the fact he is Welsh, and played under Cooper at Swansea?
-
I don’t buy it. If you wanted to put some pressure on Potter to shit or get off the pot (which it looks like we might be doing). Then you wouldn’t use the alternative manager you would sign to do that… you’d use someone else - Cooper. So hopefully this means we are pushing for Potter to give us an answer. And if that answer is “no”. Then hopefully we have someone else lined up - Corberan. That’s what I’m clinging to anyway
-
If not Potter then why aren’t we trying Corberan? Or Van Nistelrooy? Or Heitinga? Or someone who at least would follow the “long term vision of the club”. Have we even spoken to Terzic? Not fvcking Cooper
-
Thought this after posting. Ideally JJ would be RCB instead of Faes and we get a left footer the other side of Vestergaard. irrelevant if cooper comes in now 🤦♂️
-
I can see potters 3-4-2-1 formation if you want to call it that could end up looking pretty similar to how we operated under Enzo. Ie. In possession - Fatawu and Kristiansen provide the width. And can then be 2 banks of 4 with Ricardo dropping into RB, and KDH dropping in alongside Winks with Mavididi given a free role out of possession. Or we defend with a back 5. Would give good flexibility either way. Mads Faes - Vestergaard - Justin Fatawu - Ricardo - Winks - Kristiansen? KDH Mavididi Vardy
-
I can see the appeal for Potter… - We’ve an owner who wants a possession based style above all else. - Will support a manager way past their sell by date (Brendan). - Probably still offering decent wages. - Job could be seen as a “free hit” due to impending points deductions. - A lot of the foundations are already there for possession based football after last season, and players to suit that style: Mads, Jannick, Winks etc. - And Midlands based for the Solihull lad. What’s Potters record for bringing through youth?? Hopefully he gets the backing financially and from the fans. Gonna need everything for a tough season ahead.

Got to get the #7 shirt next season. Pure sauce

I’m actually coming round to the idea of Potter, if he wants the job. And that’s a big if. Think if he wants to get back into club management, having been burnt by a big club already I think we would probably be an interesting project for him. I think a year or more break, and having seen what Enzo has already implemented he would probably look to set us up in a similar fashion. The concern with Potter is his sides have always struggled to score goals. Whether that’s down to the strikers or set up remains to be seen. But would hope that with the likes of Vardy and hopefully we would sign a new striker as well if we can shift Patson we could be an exciting prospect
-
Left footed RW with 21 goal contributions last season. Probably needs a season in the championship first though…
-
Fabrizio reported the other day that Enzo was excited to work with Robert Sanchez, who is decent with his feet in fairness. So don’t buy it. If he wants Mads we should be asking for a big fee £30mil +
