  1. We need to adjust for this by the fact that we are in the Championship where we are not punished as much with our mistakes. This is training for us, in a way. I have to say though the way we are defending set pieces seems to be better - last year, even if we are playing in the Cup, you feel nervous about conceding. This year we are much better, but Liverpool coming up will give us a good test to see where we are although we are only 8 games into the season.
  2. If there is any consolidation to relegation, being in the Championship gives us more room to test new things out including a new manager and new tactics. It is like giving ourselves one whole year as a preseason to train for the start of the Premier League next year (if we win promotion of course).
  3. We also need to consider from commercial standpoint to preserve value of our investment. We can’t keep letting 10 plus players go on a free each season with fans then expecting big money signings. Also, what did I say about culture? What did Pearson say? Some fans are so quick to rid the club of what has made us great and given us the success we had. The values we had and the togetherness. The never say die attitude.
  4. Evans wanted to stay but wasn’t offered an extension.
  5. Lookman was a massive miss on our part.
  6. “Angeball” they call it. Attack, attack, attack. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/they-ll-build-a-statue-of-him-how-ange-postecoglou-silenced-doubters-to-take-the-epl-by-storm-20230919-p5e5vd.html?utm_source=ground.news&utm_medium=referral … “He’s a coach that is very passionate about the game, he believes in playing an attacking brand of football, staying on the front foot, being really positive and just the belief that he instils in players is something special. It really galvanises people,” said Geria, who was signed by Postecoglou at Victory in 2012. “Everywhere he’s gone, he produced. He produced here, he’s produced in Japan, Scotland and now seeing the fruits of it at Tottenham. … That attacking style of play has been nicknamed “Angeball”, a style with a focus on relentless high-pressing and retention of the ball that controls the game and limits possession for opposition. … “He wants to play a high line, he wants to press, he wants high tempos – you don’t stop until half-time and then you don’t stop until the end of the game. That’s how he wants his players to work – hard.” However, Geria says Postecoglou’s relentless approach to attacking is what has helped him be so successful. “It’s a focus on his team and then taking control of the game and having a relentless attitude in terms of … just attack, it doesn’t matter whether it’s two goals, three goals [down] or 10-nil up, just keep attacking, keep scoring, keep playing good football and keep producing a quality product,” Geria said. Yep. That’s what I am talking about.
  7. Further to the above, Pearson again talks about the importance of Vardy and his winning mentality. Values and culture is what makes the difference. Please see below. https://www.irishnews.com/sport/footballsoccer/2023/09/23/news/nigel_pearson_hails_jamie_vardy_after_unhappy_leicester_return-3639075/ I wish fans can stop questioning why Vardy and Albrighton are still at the club and being so keen on seeing the backs of the likes of Kasper. We need them.
  8. Or Man U.
  9. If Enzo is the type of manager I like him to be, he will go for this one with a positive mentality and try to win. If we can be competitive, it will give everyone a good confidence booster that we are good enough. If we try to dodge this, it is tapping back in to the loser mentality Rodgers had long installed into this team. Foxes should be fearless. Why should we fear? We don’t have to win, but Enzo will gain a bit more respect from me if he shows a winning attitude.
  10. Agree. Loser mentality otherwise. Let’s not be Brendan Rodgers here.
  11. Can’t agree. It is not just an important test to see where we are at Premier League level (yes they will play some kids though), but if we play well it will be a good confidence booster into the next phase of the season because everyone has been comparing us still as a Premier League team. If we just give up, it will be bad for mentality - “what? so we can’t crack it afterall and we are not good enough to get promoted?”
  12. Brendan was really a fraud. How many injuries did we suffer, year after year while he was in charge? At first it appeared to be bad luck but in hindsight the trend is also proof of Brendan’s negligence. Judgement of talent: you are spot on. Who has Brendan recruited that became a success here? All the players that he relied on so much were not recruited by him - Maddison, Ndidi, Barnes, Vardy, etc. On the other hand, he wasted so much money on players he never fancied (so weird) - Perez, Vesty, Daka, Soumare, etc. We were on the verge of getting into the elite “top eight” on the back of our Premier League win and our training ground investment etc. But Brendan was here at the wrong time. The damage he has done cannot be understated. That said, the Board must take some responsibility for not sacking him much much earlier.
  13. For sure. Before and after the game. But I hope we score 9 against them.
  14. But 14/15, we finished 14th in our first season back in the Premier League on a shoestring budget? That form during the Great Escape was actually league winning form, which we took further into in 15/16? Deeney day was just freakish - a manager can’t be held responsible for us missing a penalty and then losing in a split second afterwards? Plus, we did end up getting promoted as Champions on record points?
  15. Let’s make sure we give Pearson and (to me) Kingsy the welcome they deserve, especially Kingsy because he left during Covid and we never had a testimonial for him which he very much deserves. League One Champion. Championship Champion. Premier League Champion. One Club. Legend.
  16. The winning streak started with the Great Escape though. He was onto something but you are right that then we just needed Kante and Ranieri to make it all happen.
  17. Indeed.
  18. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/nigel-pearson-leicester-bristol-city-8770427?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target Leaving aside the football side of things, I wish Enzo can emulate Pearson here in continuing the culture for the good of the club. Keep Vardy, Albrighton and hopefully one day Kasper and King, together with Morgan, as our club culture ambassadors.
  19. I wish one day the likes of Kasper and King can come back as club ambassadors alongside Vardy, Morgan and Albrighton. As Pearson said above, it is the value and the culture that will be the backbone for success. This is the reason why it was the right thing for the club to keep Vardy and Albrighton, whether or not they play sh*t, to keep what is more important that has been developed since the Pearson days - the culture, the “we”, the foxes never say die attitude. Some fans here were too quick to kill all of that and ask for a complete turnover. But even managers come and go as we all know. Enzo included. But we created something very special leading to the 5000-1 league win. This is invaluable that we must keep. Please remember. And for those who are less sentimental, it is not about that. It is also about building success based on values. Apart from the training ground, I reckon the likes of Winks and Coady were willing to join us in the Championship because of our reputation (from winning the league and being a top side not long ago). So it really matters that we can keep traces of that (eg. Vardy) in the team for as long as possible. We want new players to come in feeling a sense of pride to be here, part of a family that want to take the club to another miracle. Let’s all face it, many deep down want to be a superhero one day. Leicester, I hope, gives the likes of Winks, Coady, Mavididi etc a sense of belief that one day they may be able to take Leicester back up to the EPL and achieve great things, because we have done it all here before and we can have Vardy and Albrighton to talk about all that.
  20. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/nigel-pearson-leicester-bristol-city-8770427?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target Legend.
  21. Can we offer him a contract extension?
  22. Imagine we still have Maddison. Him playing the role now played by Winks would be amazing. But he will truly be too good for the Championship so I am glad to see him doing well with Tottenham although I wish we got more $ for him.
  23. What a find. If the only thing we changed last year was this keeper, even if everything stayed the same including Rodgers, we would have stayed up. Having said that. This is a good time for a refresh.
  24. Turning out to be a great player. The only negative thing to mention is that if KDH was not aware he was offside by a mile at first and passed to him prematurely for the second goal, he would have wasted a clear cut opportunity. He needed to work that little bit harder and get back onside after straying offside in that situation. Even if KDH elected to shoot, McAteer would have been offside to get to any rebound.
