I'm jumping to conclusions a bit but I'd be disappointed if the lack of new contract is down to him and his advisers being awkward. Always find it frustrating when a player stalls on a new contract having spent more than a year out injured and been looked after by the club. Understand he wants game time and to progress, but don't think dragging contract issues helps.
-
Vardy is going to pick up knocks all season. He can't be our number 1 striker. Ward is clearly happy to see out his contract here and be back up, Iversen probably less so.
-
Wouldn't want to see him in the league, his negatives are woefully exposed against everyone but every nice move we had involved Soumare. Better than Choudhury anyway.
-
If he is to go out on loan. Its needs to be Championship. Best thing is the positivity when he gets the ball. Not interested in going backwards or recycling the ball for the sake of it.
-
Wanya was quiet but did some nice bits of play which created the attacks on the other side.
-
Decent run out. McAteer best player and some decent first half performances. Soumare had his usual poor touches and clumsy play but actually thought he played alright generally. Bright touches from Golding and Alves, shame we couldn't get them involved more. Turned back fat too often. Okoli was far from convincing. Can excuse a bit of rusty defending but looked far from comfortable on the ball, even more so has a left centre back. Don't want to judge yet of course, but we will see if he turns out better than what we've already got.
-
Not the start you want fron Okoli. Looked really nervous with the ball then pumped it long, and then a poor own goal. The best of McAteer there, good finish.
-
Alves might get half an hour but probably unlikely Braybrooke gets any minutes now.
-
Can't believe I'm watching this half time analysis Doing their best but it's a really awkward conversation.
-
Ironic cheers and sarcastic chants for Ward are embarrassing. Obviously not good enough, but he seems a decent bloke. Mcateer picks up great positions, shame he's not got a bit more ability on the ball because he'd be a great player. Not sure Fatawu on the left is a long term option or Mavididi in the 10.
-
I know we've got a few only just back so not involved, although they generally defensive options anyway, but that bench does highlight the lack of attacking options we have.
-
Is it a second or third kit? I'm not against a more wacky 3rd kit. Might pick it up later in the season to add to the random away kit collection. Home shirts are boring to buy.

Obviously makes a difference watching the highlights after the result but the celebrations from the Windies bowlers seemed a but OTT with hindsight -

So rubbish bowling against number 11s again. Horrible over from Atkinson. -

Short term signings are always a bit weird and can go either way. Just expect someone to turn up and score runs immediately, especially in T20 where its a bit of a lottery as to whether it comes of. Neesham as never been a consistent bowler from what I remember either. -

Be great if he could be quick and aim at the stumps though -

All out on day one used to be a disaster but England do it with 416 on the board. Odd that this kind of day 1 total is pretty normal now. -
Pep as an international manager would be interesting. Part of his success his ability to train players (and buy incredible talent of course) on the training pitches, providing them with so much tactical information. You don't get that time in international football.

Premier League 24/25 Pre-season guff (misc talking points)

Uneducated South Americans who don't understand what racist is. Pretty sure not one of them appreciates the offence they cause, they see it as their version of 'banter' Forgetting the racism, it's always cringe when teams and fans celebrate by singing about other teams. Felt the same about all the Leeds stuff our players were doing, but at least that was relevant to their achievement. -
I get the idea but we should be buying someone to play alongside Winks, with Ndidi being back up.
-
My assumption is that we will move away from that under Cooper. Especially if Winks wasn't available. Also got Choudhury to fill in an emergency. If we've got money to spend, it should be used elsewhere.
-
Don't see any logic in waiting. Only Howe is someone I could see they might wait to see if he gets sacked by Newcastle but I doubt they'd do that really early in the season. Probably give Carsley the nations league campaign and then see who's available for the world cup qualifying. Maybe Klopp would be ready to return then..
-
Nothing in this seems sensible to me. Would obviously mean Braybrooke is not seen as a current option. Yes we need cover for Winks but I think Ndidi can do that if needed.
-
Having the option to rotate and change wingers with equal quality is massive. One of the thing that held us back last season was not having a replacement for Fatawu/Mavididi. No idea if this guy is a good or not but having 4 good wing options will be crucial.

Scouts got stuck in Italy for a bit? Got excited initially because I confused him Koopmeiners, who I know has been linked with some big clubs
