  1. Trouble is there was no intention to replace. Central part of the policy
  2. I think the policy is directly responsible for the housing crisis. Quality housing at a reasonable rent was the purpose of council housing. Now we have vast numbers of people having to pay much higher private rents and forced to claim housing benefit which goes to private landlords pockets.
  3. Outdated equipment is probably worse than none at all
  4. Trouble is just to maintain let alone update costs a lot of money
  5. So would you completely scrap the armed forces of the UK?
  6. As far as defence is concerned Churchill was probably right when he said speak softly but carry a big stick. Assuming there is a collective need for Nato then we can't expect the US to do the heavy lifting without spending from the other countries.
  7. Yes sorry I realised that and is why I added UK to my post. Hopefully Canada will step up soon.
  8. Leaving Trump aside for a moment I think it has been easy to ignore increased defence spending in the past
  9. Be interesting if say all Nato agreed to 3% plus if that would soften Trump on the freeloading argument
  10. I thought we are just over the 2% (UK) on defence and one of the higher overall contributors. Having said that I think we need to spend more.
  11. Some very good points made. So despite all our own issues sometimes we need to appreciate what we have here
  12. What now for the Democrats?
  13. Dominic seems spot on here.
  14. Thank God I've never had to experience combat. Having watched different programmes over the years about different conflicts is despite the obvious changes the lot of the infantry soldier is very similar throughout
  15. And the littering is so unnecessary. Some people would trash paradise in no time
  16. Highly recommend the Geoff Hurst memoir Last Boy Of 66. Interesting, moving and funny. Even a few mentions of Leicester City
  17. Still staggers me that a bloke who basically instigated the Capitol riot etc is able to run again plus that so many will vote for him
  18. Is the number of working age people not working for a number of reasons also a factor?
  19. Would be surprised if we are outside the relegation zone by Christmas and as per the old cliché this heralds the time to change the manager. Can we wait this long though?
  20. And the countries that benefit from foreign aid
  21. Plus ww1
  22. Agreed. Obviously regret the past. When the country was engaged in the slave trade many of our ancestors did not have a vote and were living in abject poverty and ended up in the workhouse.
  23. Utter disgrace when as you say happy for extra European games plus lucrative nonsense friendlies and talk about playing League games abroad.
  24. No but many of the older boomers had parents that were seriously affected by the war and this impacted them albeit indirectly.
