I agree with you on energy generation. I think people could travel a bit less and still have a quality of life. This alone might reduce air pollution. Investing in clean public transport that is affordable too.

I suppose when looking at carbon footprint questions often they include things like how many flights do you take or how much car travel. Perhaps we should not need someone else to ask us to cut down. I've not been on a flight since 1980 though I like to think I have empathy for other people around the world without the need to go. I see there is already a backlash against tourists in places like Barcelona. Even locals in the Cotswolds are fed up with too many cars. This may not be directly to do with the climate but it seems quality of life is harmed. A difficult balance.

Even if the lesser evil it surely has an environmental impact especially when you consider the journey alone is not the only factor.

Good points made. Not so much the current Leeds incident but the 2 tier policing issue is not far below the surface after recent events concerning the Met in London. By the way I generally am sympathetic towards the Police and can't stand the idea a mob gets involved and starts trashing the neighbourhood and infrastructure

What an odd bunch they seem to be. Another thing I noticed after the shooting at the rally was the shouts of USA USA. I think most of us thought the shooter was one of their own rather than a foreigner and so it proved to be. For all this wrapping themselves in the Stars and Stripes the chief danger regarding violence in America comes from their own US born.

I've been critical of Southgate but he did a good job but unfortunately could not quite win a big prize. He does though seem a decent and likeable bloke and went someway to counter the bluster and arrogance that some outside the country think is typical of England.

I will watch the Olympics. There might be a posh bloke from say Surrey competing against a bloke from France, Mongolia or anywhere. The foreign bloke might be from a working class background like me. I would still like the posh fella win for Great Britain. Likewise if someone from Leicester wins something do you check his class before enjoying local pride.
