Getting annoyed with the constant Vestergaard piss taking to be honest. He was solid. We know where his limitations are but he did exactly what his national team asked of him. In the right system, he will be ok next season, as he just did against Kane, Bellingham, Foden and Saka. VK let himself down but he will learn from that. He’s young, and youth make mistakes. Credit to him for getting on with it afterwards not letting it get the better of him.

Has it been changed since you wrote this? It doesn't mention King Power in the statement at all.

Well, how could they? They wouldn't have got Cooper in if they thought he was going to fail? Expectations are going to have to be managed from all angles.

Appreciate that. I feel about as excited as being told i need root canal. It might make things ok in the medium term, but the short term is likely to be horrible and i know there is no great hope that the tooth will see out the long term.

Not sure i agree. Our club tends to do its dealings privately (unlike Chelsea who unleash the social media beasts), so everything we see on socials or here is being spread on old news and trying to generate clicks. You could see from Romano that he had no clue - and we have to respect the clubs way of doing this. There seems to be a desire for everyone to have up to the minute information. Personally dont get it. The decision gets made when everyone involved is happy has agreed to it. At the end of the day this is a job interview and a negotiation process between candidates and the club. They must see more than one candidate, and just because the first candidate was hired (or the one we think was the first candidate), doesn't mean anyone messed up. Its the same is in any interview, where you might have more than one candidate that is suitable but other factors (salary, notice periods, demands) mean that the first candidate is the one you go for. The time dealing with other candidates isn't wasted, and we dont know the real reason why Potter didn't get it, which might have been something out of everyones control or the club might have preferred something about Cooper in the process. And this is from someone who dislikes the appointment! I dont think they did anything wrong in the process.

I thought the plus point about losing Enzo was this **** left as well. Why does he still care. Just go!!! I feel like im quite a rational person, but ****ing hate this guy.

Bloody German fraud with fake pearly whites. Worst manager since Puel.

I dispute this but the reality is we will never know - i just dislike it being presented as fact these days. The Bournemouth game as well as our performances against Norwich, WBA and Southampton showed me the tactics also could work when not playing low block sides. I think the plus point now is that 17th with Enzo would have been seen by our fans as proof his system didn't work, where 17th under Cooper would be seen as the master pragmatist sh1thousing safety. Almost masterful that expectations have been shifted so much with this appointment. To your other point about Soumare, Cooper almost played with no midfield at times. Dont see how Soumare fits his system, assuming Cooper doesnt try and reinvent himself as a possession manager all of a sudden.

Felt more infused about Dean Smith. Really underwhelmed and dreading what's coming next. When you see what Palace, Fulham, Brighton and even bloody Bournemouth have done, the arguments for Coopers PL forest performances are really weak. The good news is that if it goes 'ok' i will be delighted. But feel this sets a marker for a new era which puts us in our place. I doubt we fire the guy because i would imagine the negotiations included what happens if relegated (it would have to because of points deductions). So if this is shit, its going to be shit for a long time.

I doubt we will ever find out the full story, but i do remember when Potter was sacked there was talk about him being possibly the best paid person on gardening leave, and it would be a while before another job came up that would work from a severance / new salary perspective. If true, its more valuable for him not to work over the terms of that Chelsea contract. But at some point he will have to get back to work if he wants to stay relevant. Maybe we got close, but the detail around severance could have delayed the process. It may have been hard for him to accept poor severance from us if we were to sack him, compared to what he was getting at Chelsea. Obviously the closer he gets to the end of that Chelsea contract the less clout it will have, but i still think there is quite a bit of time left on it. Its wasy for us to just assume he's mugged us off, but it does look like the club see the situation as urgent now and can't wait for Lawyers to sort out these details. We know those bastards (lawyers) will happily drag a process like that over a month or longer.

Are you happy with Steve Cooper being appointed (as looks likely)?
Chelmofox replied to Tuna's topic in Leicester City Forum
Lots of players and injury crisis. Just gets better. -
Errr, because he was a premier league manager?
-
Positives on the impending Cooper appointment
Chelmofox replied to CrazyKopCorner's topic in Leicester City Forum
He might not be as shit as I’m expecting him to be. -
I agree, but to many he wasn't. Even now the forum is full of posters that don't get the Enzo appointment and think we were just going to get done 1-0 on the counter every week, even against the top 6.

... Wrong thread

Do Rudkin / Top have a special deal where they take it in turns to decide the next Manager. So after Coopers sacking is it Top's go?
-
So why doesn't Top just sack Rudkin?

Not really. But its his job now to prove he is the right choice. Looking forward to being pleasantly surprised, but my expectations for the season are far lower than if we had Enzo still in the job. -
Considering this is happening, i suppose you have to look at the positives. I think Potter is overrated, and has mugged us off again. I actually have doubts he will succeed in the PL again as the game slowly passes him by. Not sure who goes for him, and he feels like the sort of manager you should get at the start of a season. Corberan (god i wish we had gone for him!) does not have PL experience. You do have to respect the clubs view on that, even if i dont agree with it. WBA in the playoffs was a bit of a warning, and it wasnt just down the squad depth. Cooper had some credentials before Forest. This must work for him or he is likely finished. He will be coming into a very different setup to before and can probably plan the approach style in a way he simply couldn't at Forest. Cooper CANNOT play this the same we he did at Forest. If we revert to the structure he used there and we go to 'backs to the wall' almost scared football then he'll be finished pretty quickly. I cling on to hope that he has interviewed well and has a more progressive plan for what is a potentially good baseline squad, and maybe a few clever transfers. Also, clever integration of Nelson, Alves and Braybrooke could be key and rewarding. He could forge out an identity that is in line with what the club wants but is more pragmatic than Enzo. Cooper has his work cut out for him. We have to compete with the bottom half of the league and i don't care if we try and sh1t house the top 6.

This post really should win the internet today.
-
Did you see Coopers away form in the PL with Forest?
-
I think many forget the fortune that Forest got that season. Even getting a completely demoralised Arsenal the game after they couldn't win the league and barely turned up. The season is a marathon and it can't just be survived on fortune, but they definitely got the rub of the green in the last 3rd of the season.

Who will be the richer when they are sacked?
-
We should sign 30 players just to see the look on his face in a few weeks.
