Anything in particular about this company, or just being linked with a state owned oil / gas company.

They never quite understood the 'game in hand' bit.

Development/Youth Squads 2023/2024 Thread - U18/U21
Chelmofox replied to Ryy's topic in Leicester City Forum
But as Man City has shown, if you can facilitate loans and transfers to top tier championship title challengers as well as bringing in the next Barnes / KDH, then it goes a long way to being the main revenue driver for the club. Even a few just going for 5 mill is great profit. -
Hmm. They were being rotated pretty evenly early on. Quick check shows me that in the league Kels started 5 of the first 7 games. They both started 6 each of the first 12. Kels fell out of favour late November. Up to game 17 he had featured in every game including 2 efl cup games he started. He played more than I remembered earlier in the season. Enzo called out in a press conference earlier in the season that they were discussing new deals.

Wages Man U pay are everything that’s wrong with football. If the top clubs would pay a sensible wage it would help everyone down the pyramid.

It all got mixed up because inter farted around. As far as i know the original approach was for a Perez style loan (see out end of contract elsewhere as he wasn’t going to play anymore). Then inter looked at him extending his contract so they could get a small fee for him (this is where the 2m comes from). Seems like we still explored this but everything became more complex and there wasn’t time to get it done. I would also presume the club got itchy feet about committing to anything that wasn’t a loan.
-
The original intention was a loan!

Watching Palace makes me wonder what we could have done with decent recruitment over the last 3 years.
-
Their careers are in very different places. At the start of the season, Kels was very much in favour and I presume they were thinking about the future and potential resale even if we didn’t get promoted. Something went sour along the way. I presume with Vardy they wanted absolute assurance we were promoted.
-
Do we know if he passed the medical he had?
-
We wanted him on loan. Inter started messing with the deal.

Keeper was barged whilst he was in the air trying to collect the ball. It’s a foul. If they were both grounded I think there could be a claim it was 50 50 but that’s a foul all day long. Man U are like a tribute act to football. Eriksen and Evans have no place playing at this level. Jonny was pony for both goals, and the pundits were biting him up before the game.
-
And tell me, when did we hit our sticky patch?
-
Over the course of a 38 game season , I’m not having that. They were right in the mix for quite some time, with some pretty decent players.
-
I’m saying it’s not the best there ever has been and a change in formation doesn’t change that. In fact, playing a back 3 with Riccy inverting took the pressure off the midfield. The problem was the inability to bring on any subs that could do anything if any of them were injured or playing badly.
-
They were toying with relegation last season with Rice.

Praet has been next to useless at any level, cannot play 90 minutes nor more than 3 games consecutively. Cassadei was a development loan who will probably now look at this season as a wasted opportunity. I personally don't rate Yunus but i know many do - he's ok but not going to say he was going to be the driving force behind any top 6 championship teams promotion bid. Sharkey couldn't get into West Brom's team last season and whilst i love the bloke, wouldn't have got in the Leeds or Southampton teams. Marcal has actually been disappointing other than a few fleeting interesting performances. Most of the forum hate Hamza - i rate him actually but he's inconsistent. If he was in the Southampton or Leeds team would he have made the difference between 3/4 or 1st - i doubt it.

The manager got promoted with 2 games to spare and got 97 points. Why should he use a different system all of a sudden? And even if we moved to 4-3-3 or a variant of 4-4-2, it would have still meant that after Winks, KDH and Ndidi we had no one with any credentials in there.
-
Our fans look at Nacho with blue tinted specs. Especially in the Championship where defenders of the lower teams play for their lives and double up on attackers. And wages mean nothing. A lot of the core new signings (Mads, Mavididi, Fatawu, Cassadei, Yunus) had no PL experience. The core of our team were relegation bottlers with a bunch of high wage plonkers (Praet, Nacho, Daka, Ward) who barely wanted to be here anymore. Even Ndidi agreed terms with our most despised rivals and barely played a decent game after injury. KDH had a poor PL season last year, and Winks was out of favour (and the xfer largely panned before we saw him play). All our fans call out Daka as complete crap - until you want to talk about our amazing squad all of a sudden and then he is wanted by everyone! After a good small renaissance, Daka showed the shooting prowess of my wife after a curry and half a bottle of Rose.

We were talking about Enzo and us having the 'best team ever assembled' . To be perfectly frank, the claim is bull****. We actually had the best defence in the league (even though everyone is after the 2 center backs heads), and especially for the 1st half of the season our goals against was phenomenal. Our Midfield has been our problem. We are actually pretty fortunate that KDH and Winks didn't suffer any injuries, as we had no proper rotation for either. When Ndidi was injured and we lost Cassadei (who was a youth loanee anyway), we had literally no one to play in that role. We walked through the season on a knife edge in midfield. McKenna did a great job but shipped 57 goals. Nothing but admiration for his achievement.
-
Only certain Leicester fans stake claim to that. Our midfield was average with no rotation, and without KDH - terrible.
-
3 teams staked the claim to having the best squad in the league. Lots of predictions had either Leeds or Southampton winning it (and granted some Leicester). Only 1 team could do it, and the manager who did it deserves credit.

They put that boot on for anything nowdays. Spurs put Madders in one after one of the first games of the season as he was playing again in 2 weeks. Barnes was in one pre-season 2022. Probably stuck him in it to stop him arsing about too much in the celebrations.
