Tottenham (H) - Mon 19 Aug 8pm - Pre-Match Thread

I just want us to show we can play football. -
Galatasaray said they had paid 18m Euros (£15.3m), external but BBC Radio Norfolk understands Norwich expect to receive a guaranteed £20m for Sara, with a potential extra £2.5m based on bonuses, and they also have a sell-on clause.

After a single season Atalanta are cutting their losses selling for nearly half what they paid for him. Yet apparently this is a deal.
-
Or a massive loss.
-
With?
-
Arsenal beat us to him. Wonder if we retained an interest. 82k a week apparently.
-
Difficult to gauge a player who comes up against crash test dummies most weeks though.
-
Apparently only on £36k a week at Brentford. I'll take two please.
-
With the way Chelsea have treated the likes of Gallagher and Chalobah you can bet they wouldn't have thought twice about telling the lad he had no future at Chelsea and he had to move or see his career come to a stop.
-
Pushing or pulling...
-
Toney not in the Brentford squad today, so naturally...
-
Only wants Roma... Tired joke is tired.

That's not specifically the issue. The issue is because he's not been out of the UK long enough the money he has already earned will be subject to UK tax. It's not simply a case of paying more tax on his earnings once he hits these shores, it's that he'll have to pay tax for his previous earnings.
-
Didn't he displace Winks when he first came into the team? Pretty sure he took Harrys spot.
-
Absolutely 100% some PSR fiddling going on if true.
-
Don't count it out! Just had a quick check. He's on 70k a week at Spurs, almost double Skipps wage. Maybe not. Though he's only got a year left.

The thread was started on July 17th. That's some knackered knees to take this long for a reaction.
-
Define journeyman for me, because as far as I'm aware a journeyman is somebody who has been through endless clubs and never settles. Not a guy who has spent his entire career at one club bar one season on loan at Norwich.

Immediately my reaction. We are probably going to forego the idea of creative central midfielders opting to close down the middle of the park and use our strength out wide. The way VK has been used in preseason would support that. However the way Ricardo or JJ when used on the right have been used in preseason would suggest not. I've thought for a long time I'd rather have an industrious midfield, and the 2 8's system last season largely played into that. Of course it's great having that creative spark in the centre, but a Maddison both costs a lot and there's a massive drop off when they're out/injured/off form. Hamer would be a welcome inclusion now and I think that'd complete the midfield. Probably a pipe dream now, but he has it all, whether from a creative stance or defensive/industrial mid.

As soon as I saw the pretty suspicious figure of £20mill I immediately wondered which of our young players we're selling to them for 10-15 mill. McAteer?
-
He's not avoiding tax. He's avoiding a situation in which he'd have to pay tax. If he doesn't come back to England he doesn't have anything to pay.

The fact is Mav IS a winger that can play down the middle and Cannon IS a striker. So why shunt Mav into his 2nd position and then have a weaker left winger in. Even if you accept that Mav is a better striker than Cannon, of which we don't really have any evidence. You also have to accept that Mav is a better left winger than whoever then has to fill in there. So shunting them about is just trading down somewhere anyway. I'd rather play Buo false 9 in that case.

Skipp looks younger than I remember.
