  1. It makes sense. Cannon is young and ours so getting him out to get regular minutes made sense. Whether it was the best choice of loans is a different point. But you still need cover so makes sense also to do that by bringing someone in on loan. Eduoard was never first choice, just cover. i guess it was probably imagined that he may offer more than Cannon this season though which is questionable.
  2. He can’t help himself 😂
  3. Wasn’t one of the draws against Newcastle too?
  4. I might be way off but it feels that for Ipswich, McKenna is their trump card and the success is in most, down to him. So a change of manager could be unlikely to be the catalyst it is for many sides. As others have pointed out, it was for Southampton all those years ago but that was a decade Or so ago and a different situation. Southampton probably improve if and when they bin Martin. But with an average squad, they may already have left it too late for a new manager to improve to the level needed to survive. Wolves probably will be fine if they act sooner but as with the comparison with 22/23 us, maybe they drag their heels for too long.
  5. And the disallowed goal, his ball through to Buoanotte.
  6. Kind of agree and disagree. West Ham were extremely wasteful not just the shots but when they got into a promising positions, everything broke down. If you look at it and think how that would turn out against most sides, you’d say we concede a bagful most times. There weee definitely huge positives in terms of how good we were getting forward quickly and counter attacking (thought I’m sure many of here will be horrified by that) and there was a lot of effort and pressing. But we need to sort ourselves defensively. I wanted Cooper to go and feel positively about the appointment of RVN but if we had that exact same game under Cooper, he’d be getting slaughtered. Obviously first game for RVN so you can’t be critical and there were notable improvements in other areas of the performance. I’m sure he will be working on it already!
  7. Would have had Buanotte, BEK, Mav but apart from that probably the best options there. At least Faes is out! Edit might have liked to see Okoli alongside Vestergaard but perhaps he is not starting due to going off injured at the weekend. Good sign he is on the bench, I feel those two might compliment each other of the options we have.
  8. Poor player who had a purple patch. He looks shot as well so needs to drop down a level, maybe two. If we go down, hopefully we give a chance to Cover who is earning his chance to play at a higher level.
  9. More about picking the battles though I’d say. You can’t sign a full new team in January so what are the priorities. Defence wise, Faes is an absolute state. JJ is just poor. Neither of them can still be in the team. The question is whether, with other parts of the defence sorted, could Thomas and Kristiansen get us by. I’d say probably yes, they have both shown good signs which suggested confidence or lack of leadership and experience. Thomas I have always felt had something. Whether that’s this level or not but he has been awfully managed in terms of coming through under Rodgers (poor kid) and the loans to the likes of Sheffield United didn’t help. I’d like to think he can still be a success something at a good level.
  10. Did you have a long sleep for the last year/18 months of Rodgers reign?
  11. Robin Hood of Loxley (Sheffield) I believe. And Little John of Hathersage (peaks).
  12. I’ve seen a few articles that point to our ‘recent manager history’, suggesting we are burning through managers and with a tone of us being trigger happy. Rodgers - was long overdue and given more chances that he should have. Was begging to go. Smith - I’ve seen it suggested he was also sacked rather than the truth of him being an interim appointment until the end of the season who didn’t do what was needed and left at the end of his contract. Maresca - poached Cooper - maybe by some basic metrics, it might appear at surface level a bit soon but those who know the detail know this was the right call. So it’s not like we are sacking managers hand over fist.
  13. Can’t get enthused by RVN (the apparent failings out with players) or Potter. Neither would be the right fit imo. Really don’t want Potter particularly. Not sure who the answer is though.
  14. I agree with this. However, what we really need for Braybrooke particularly is minutes under his belt. It’s probably more benefit to get minutes at a lower level than get splinters. If it is because he isn’t putting the effort enough to get into a poor Dundee side, he won’t make it here anyway so we’d probably be best cutting him loose. Cover on the other hand looks quite promising to be in the side next season presuming we go down.
  15. Braybrooke and Popov need to come back and have their options reviewed in January. Both those loans are a waste of time and not helping their development. Glad to see Cannon and Souttar continue to do well.
  16. Even if Ipswich and Southampton finish below us (if), who is going to be the third side as I can’t see one? Wolves will finish well clear now they are in their stride. Everton are Everton. Palace seem to be getting their act together. Think we are done regardless of whether we get rid of Cooper to be fair…
  17. From Sky.. Leicester 1-2 Chelsea Odd this. The crowd are still relatively muted. The Leicester players are jogging. And somehow Chelse have won a corner...
  18. One of those where if we were more organised and had a plan, there could be the opportunity to expose Chelsea and get a similar result to those against us by the likes of Plymouth and Millwall in the run in last season. Smash and grab type. But, I agree with the above, although we should know Maresca’s weaknesses, we won’t do anything about it and get comfortably beaten.
  19. Got to agree with the above about Norfolk. Particularly like Wells next the sea, lovely beach and Hunstanton. I really like Searles Holiday Park at Hunstanton, it was great for my daughter. Didn’t have a big corporate feel about it. Northumberland as well. We have just been there for the second time this year the weekend just gone. I love driving up that way on the A1, once you pass Leeds and get into North Yorkshire, you just leave all the chaos behind and it just feels really quiet. There are plenty of interesting places I can go back to such as Alnwich, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Cragside which is a National Trust. Cornwall as well although it’s a hell of a drive from South Yorkshire where we are whereas Norfolk and Norththumberland can be reached within 3 hours. I also felt we were very busy trying to do loads given how far it was whereas the other places feel much more like a break to go to.
  20. I found I had a fine afternoon yesterday. Watched the Sheffield Derby whilst my 2 year old had a nap then my wife and I took her swimming at about 2.30 when she woke up. Had a great time and just checked the score later on. Definitely the way forward 👍
  21. I think it was directly before the run of 3 0-0’s that United won 4-2 at Hillsborough. It was when they were newly promoted after the years in League 1 so must have been around 2017. That was a cracker so they can happen. But yeah since then have been pretty dull. I’m glad United won anyway. They are my preferred Sheffield side since I moved here for Uni years ago. I also think the city should have a team in the Premier League doing well more often than it does and United are more likely than Wednesday on that score as well. And as someone says above, if it keeps Leeds down!
  22. I meant he is more than good enough at the level. Which is true, actually, as a defender, he is too good for the Championship. I wasn’t speaking relative to us playing such a specific, rigid system. People confuse not good enough for that level with not being perceived to fit a specific system we were playing. You have actually proven what I said, that Maresca and his disciples in our fan base just wanted players who could pass a ball not defend. This is proven by how easy to beat we were last season. We conceded a shocking amount of goals, no team winning the league should be losing 11 games and we could and should have lost more if it wasn’t for shocking finishing from teams who were scared of us early in the season. Once teams figured us out, we were a different side in a bad way and yeah, defensively was the reason. Souttar is actually pretty good on the ball anyway. Sheffield United are hardly just hoofing it constantly. He was also getting across the pitch pretty swiftly to cover the right full back Seriki yesterday so he isn’t slow. The times last season our right back space was just free for the opposition to run unchallenged into… I get Vestergaard was good last season. But I maintain, we could have used an asset in Souttar who we shelled out on, has years on his contract and let Vestergaard go in the summer whilst getting promoted. Now we have that asset away from the club, a renewed contract for Vestergaard who has been out the side most of the season so far. Where the financial since in all that? Anyway, rant over! Hopefully Sheffield United get promoted and make Souttar permanent. He has a manager there who appreciates him and fans who love him. He deserves to stay there if possible rather than come back here.
  23. I appreciate that. But these fans were also claiming he was not good enough for us last season were they not? He is currently a fans favourite and multiple MOTM winner for a side who but for their 2 point deduction, would be top of the league and who look defensively more secure and harder to beat than we did last season. And defensively, he is good enough imo anyway. He is just too big and not glamorous enough for many of our fans who think defender only need to be able to pass the ball and nothing else!
  24. Not Potter. Bloke is uninspiring, uninterested and has made it clear he doesn’t want to manager us. We just look absolutely desperate and out of ideas to keep chasing him. All you get with a manager who isn’t interested is excuses, lack of accountability and ultimately, someone looking to engineer their exit.
  25. Shame many of our fans don’t rate defenders who can defend!
