  1. From a car driving the wrong way down the motorway. I can’t even comprehend how that happens. Well, I know why. Either deliberately, likely for social media likes or heavily on drugs. No other reasonable explanation why.
  2. Nelson as well. Took a couple of games to get into the Oxford side having joined after the start of the season but had 2 7.0 ratings both against recently relegated sides plus a clean sheet in one of those. Then got a knock in the next game.
  3. Agreed. Normally either good appointments that do well then run their course or unpopular and do nothing to change that.
  4. Yeah I’m aware of MON. To be fair, he fell just before my time (I was initially taken down in the Micky Adams promotion season). So yeah, more about the last 15 years or so I was looking at.
  5. We have had a few managers in recent years who have gotten off to really good starts (Ranieri, Rodgers and Pearson) and a couple of short terms in Shakey and Smith. Going back as far as Sven, I can only really think of Puel and now Cooper that have been met with instant vitriol and people demanding them to be sacked as soon as they have come through the door. Ranieri wasn’t initially popular but quickly change people’s minds. Then you have when fans turn on the manager regardless of if they are new (when the first of us started to want Rodgers gone). I would say that new or not, when fans want the manager gone, it doesn’t often turn around for them. It is usually just about the wait….
  6. This is the one 🤞🏻
  7. The Cooper out thread has now exceeded the number of pages in the ‘Steve Cooper - New Manager’ thread. Impressive
  8. Hope they f*** it up! They have Rodgers right hand man in charge so a bad second half of the season and choke job could happen!
  9. It’s a ‘Selhurst’ onside….
  10. You must have your head stuck in 2016 with this bit! We’re public enemy number one now Just on your last bit, I’d have thought a Rutter or Pedro sale would be less likely given the fees they were brought in for and there being less scope for profit, which is what your guys do very well. On that basis, a Buonanotte sale potentially makes more sense for Brighton?
  11. It’s disappointing but not solely down to Cooper which is where a couple of points of balance come in. PSR forcing clubs like us to sell out academic products. There were strong rumours that neither Barnes nor KDH were particularly wanting a move. This stat from 2018 must pretty much take into account the two of them plus Chilwell so we have done well to have 3 such players come through. Also, we have had a successful loan window. Obviously Nelson is the only academy one in the Championship but we have a couple each in L1 and L2 all doing well. The Braybrooke loan looks a bit odd and I fear it will not help him kick on as much as we hoped. That said, we are only talking about the squad here. Not too long ago, there were only 5 substitutes allowed to be named and plenty of people on here will no doubt remember far further back than I can to days when it was just one. So with 9 available, I do feel like for any team, they should be a space or two on the bench for young prospects, whether they get on or not. That is the bit on Cooper. I thought this at the time, but when it went up to 9 named and up to 5 used, I feel it should have come with the rule that the extra two named were academy and say, 1 of the 5 you can use should be. To encourage giving youth the opportunity.
  12. Really pleased for him. Yes Portsmouth look like they are going back down but to score 4 is still an achievement. Particularly given our current side struggle to get a shot on target against League 2 opposition! Range of finishes on both feet there too. Free kick, composed pen but even those two from open play showing his ability to pull off the last man, Vardy-esk but also the ability to take the ball under his control and finish within the area (albeit not from the most crowded area on account of Pompeys defending. Premier League ability of not is still unclear but I can’t believe anyone doubts he can do it in the Championship. Also he didn’t have a worthwhile pre-season with us so hardly surprising he has taken a couple of games looking rusty for Stoke.
  13. Fair play to the commentator for our game on match of the day for calling out the foul on Vardy for their first and the red card that should have been for Calafiori. To be fair, after the offside at Palace, if we had scored that final goal that Arsenal did yesterday, I actually think VAR would have found a way to uphold the decision and not allow it…(yes it was correct to allow it as Justin got the touch but point stands)
  14. Plus Ronaldo ran off to a retirement league to stat pad. Vardy is still doing it at the highest level.
  15. I have put during the October break. I have seen enough to want a change. Despite being behind him and in favour of his appointment, the line ups, the shocking in game management and general negativity that I believe he is not getting the best out of the players available. The only reason I have put October is, Arsenal is likely a write off anyway which just leaves Bournemouth. Cooper is at least growing a few points out and we aren’t going to find ourselves cut adrift after the next two games. I would though, like to see us demonstrate we have a plan. I wanted Rodgers out for ages but even taking into account we left it over the International Break then, would he have got more than 0 points from Villa and Bournemouth at home where the chuckle brothers of Stowell and Sadler lost both? Maybe. So I would rather we be lining up the next manager now but not remove Cooper until then just to have an interim in charge.
  16. We cup tied him in the last round against Tranmere.
  17. I believe Souttar was also man of the match for Sheffield United!
  18. For a bit of balance, draws are important to pick up. We came close to falling short last season as we were too easy to beat, lost too many games and lacked the ability to supplement the wins with draws. Fortunately we won enough games. Obviously now we have gone the other way. Become harder to beat and grinding out draws but to back up what wins? With the negative set ups and in game management, I can completely understand the ‘where is a win coming from’ train of thought. To be 2-0 up last week at a poor Palace and not win, and to be outplayed at home by an awful Everton side is so so poor however you try to dress it up. I would maybe be of the view that it was ok had we drawn due to Pickford having the game of his life or the woodwork being constantly tested, signs that it just wasn’t out day but the ingredients are there. But it still seems so far off. To end of a positive, set pieces seem to have improved. The move for Okolie’s header over and then goal. I think we got a new set piece coach didn’t we? Hopefully a club appointment and not linked to Cooper if he does get the boot before long.
  19. Positive - no 3 DMs Negative - Ayew over Fatawu when at home. And still Justin over Ricardo. Also I don’t know why but I don’t really like Faes and Okolie together.
  20. To put it another way, do you think we will get a single one of ‘those’ go in our favour this season?
  21. Pathetic. The wording in there lets the mask slip that it is not about the rules but just bitterness. It’s all very tiresome. Maybe it would have been easier to just go along with it and get our house in order going forward. It would have meant definite relegation this season but now we have this to look forward to when relegated and if anyone thinks PGMOL won’t be working alongside the PL to make sure that happens, you are very naive. Last Saturday, exhibit A….
  22. What is this new format? Disgusting. I haven’t watched a CL game since the season we were in it but I would hope this turns even more people off it…
  23. Harsh, Mavididi and Ricardo too . Maybe Winks as well…
  24. For everyone saying Riccy right back and moving JJ to left back and dropping VK, JJ is the problem! Simple, drop JJ, Riccy in and keep VK at left back. A shadow of the player he was.
  25. I supported his appointment, he wasn’t an exciting choice but I did think he’d set us up to be defensively solid and strong on the counter using the pace we have. I have no issues with him and want him to do well. Even the results themselves are not that bad. Yes we’d all like more than 2 points from the first 4 but we have played 2 very strong sides at home. In theory, it gives us something to build on. However, I am fast running out of patience now not due to the results but because his line ups and in game management is up there with the most negative I have seen. I can forgive losing if we are not good enough. I don’t think this team is a top 10 team like some have said but I’ve seen enough to think there are 3 worse if we actually try to win games. Ultimately you allow pressure you will conceded. Basic stuff. We yet again find ourselves as we did with Rodgers, where we need to score twice to get anything from a game! No point calling for him out though. Guaranteed no matter what happens, our board will not do anything whilst we are still on 2024…..
