  1. Haven’t watched Notts County this season until now but they are fantastic to watch if this is their normal. Probably the best example I have seen in a long time as to how to have the majority of the ball but be thoroughly entertaining and forward thinking. Level taken into account but we are nowhere near as complete as they are. Pressing high, excellent pin point balls breaking the lines, short, quick interplay in the final third. Excellent
  2. 100%, I like Flemming and think he’d be a good signing but it’s also reflective of a good market which we should be more active in.
  3. Would be good. These been a few stand out players at this level that have come from Holland with Piroe, Hamer and Flemming. Agree he would jump at joining unless he ends up with top flight interest already. Not sure how much he’d cost though!
  4. I think you just have to accept and appreciate that as Rodgers did such a job on us, people will not have got over it yet and those comparisons will be quick to come to for some. At the end of the day, Enzo hasn’t proven anything yet. He’s had a positive start but he’s not shown how he will deal with a dip in form (as he hasn’t had to yet). It’s natural for people to remember December 2019 when we had been on a long winning run, started with a couple of bad performances (Everton and Norwich) before losing to a couple of the stronger sides in the league (Man City and Liverpool). We then fell apart. Hopefully just all very loose and only a connection made by trauma from the Rodgers era and the power of over thinking, and that we come back from the break firing again. But I think that is where the worry comes from basically.
  5. Generally I don’t think this is the case. Just these last couple of games, the lack of subs and not proactively changing things has been a little bit like what we were used to before. It’s actually a side of his management that has been impressive so far and been a welcome change from before so it’s been a little odd to see in these past couple of games. Hopefully it’s been due to the injuries and we come back from this break with a couple of them back and look reinvigorated!
  6. Absolutely inexplicable. I still can’t get my head around it
  7. Not comparable. Firstly, there is a difference between questioning some decisions by the manager or writing him off. Everyone is subject to scrutiny in their job, it doesn’t have to be a negative thing. Enzo has had a couple of shockers recently and it’s fair to question his decisions. Doesn’t mean he can’t learn from it and personally I hope he does. Re Rodgers, as Ric said, there were plenty of us questioning him as early as 2020. I don’t like to call anyone thick to use your word, but it’s the people who were backing him as long as last season who I’d be looking at there.
  8. I think generally, there is just a lot of people on here who have no balance or perspective in their views, both ways. Of course there are people who genuinely wait for the chance to moan and be negative but there are also people who can pick the one non-positive thing in a balanced post and pile on the person who has posted it. I like to think personally, I try for balanced posts. It may default slightly negative through years of experience but I’ll try to comment positive and negative together but still get piled on sometimes. I find that more infuriating as the pessimists are just venting whereas the people who think there is nothing wrong or can’t accept everything isn’t always perfect, seem to go out their way to dig out others, from my observations anyway.
  9. Who’s actually saying this? This is a typical ‘I’m a better fan because I think everything is perfect and rosy’ kind of post. The type of post which just shouts down anybody who dares present any alternative view to your own.
  10. Nail on head. I’m specifically not commenting on the game, the manager or anything else for this reason. For years, it feels there has been such a divide between our fans. Those who see things in real time, comment on patterns emerging and criticising where necessary. Then there are those who just believe all will be fine and shout down (often with aggression) those who don’t think everything is perfect! What I will say, is that the latter group were the ones adamant we wouldn’t throw away top 4 twice and rubbished the notion we would get relegated and laughed at people who questioned Rodgers.
  11. Not disagreeing with the majority of your point but head to head is a pretty important metric no? One that can be used to separate teams in some competitions. Hopefully we smash them in the return fixture like but it was disappointing to lose at home and they are justified in thinking they will at least close the gap a bit further even if it ultimately ends up being too much for them.
  12. Hmm, literally what happened before. Lost to Hull at the start of September before it was announced and lost to Leeds in the same circumstances. Let’s have another 9 game run then! And can they stop giving him this
  13. Ward yes but very harsh on Iverson. He he been first choice last season he’d have kept a lot of those out as it wasn’t his shot stopping that was the problem…
  14. I agree Winks is a huge upgrade. Also important to note I said this division. Basically what I meant was he’d have been a good back up (in my opinion) in this system, in this league, to give Winks a break who is currently playing every match. I’m not saying he was a world beater but would have been useful this season. I don’t think that is a particularly controversial view?
  15. Very underused. He’d have been really good in the Winks position at this level I reckon. Another example of lack of communication and alienation of certain players…
  16. Well yes..but the point is we seem to be particularly extreme with the ups and downs not only over a period of years but how hot and cold we have been within seasons themselves. It’s not like I’m talking about a 5 game unbeaten run followed by 5 game winless run in a season of finishing midtable like all teams face. I may be wrong, but I can’t think of any other clubs who have been quite as extreme in recent memory but can be stand corrected! Anyway, as I said before, not a bad thing. It’s what makes it exciting to support us! But also what is stopping me telling anyone who will listen that we are already up and everyone else may as well give up as some are doing!
  17. 2 double digit point leagues squandered to finish 5th when in 4th the whole season. Being 7 points adrift in March (in 2015) to win 7 in the last 9 and stay up (going on to win the league). Before that, the season before promotion we were top in I think February, went on an awful run for months and dropped out of the playoff positions before recovering it on the last day (away at Forest). Then Deeney day in those playoffs. Literally, such a crazy, ridiculous club and that’s just on the pitch in the last 10 years!!
  18. I am the same actually. I just don’t use it and agree better for it. Quite a lot gets posted on this forum for example which shows it really. I think you always tend to get the more balanced views from the match going fans not the online lot! Honestly, many of our fans are already crowning us as champions but the lead over you still makes me nervous. If any club can conspire to throw it away, it is us as we are all or nothing. Never boring, always either sublime or ridiculous. If we go through one of our ridiculous spells, that lead could disappear quite easily. Hopefully the manager and coaching staff will not allow that to happen mind but it’s far to early to be talking about promotion or titles at this point.
  19. More the social media side following the game. No issue with fans at the game or players. Hardly Arsenal in 2016 with the changing room photos! And no, not sour grapes. I felt we had dropped our levels in our previous couple of games and said before the game I’d not be surprised to lose. Clearly frustrated that we put in one of our worst displays for a while and that we couldn’t have drawn to keep the 14 point lead over you. The social media side is OTT though and you’d think Leeds are the only side in the league going off some of it. I realise that is not necessarily representative of most of your fan base however 👍
  20. It really was Leeds cup final wasn’t it
  21. This. Honestly, I go to football to support my team and watch the game. I have no interest in the opposition fans or any chants/songs not about our club. Those guilty of tragedy changing should be found and punished. I cringe at what our ‘fans’ sing when we play them. But the hypocrisy of Liverpool and their supports riles me. It’s ok for them to sing about Munich when playing Man Utd. As you say, the queen who whether you agree with the monarchy or not, an elderly lady who served her country. And even Thatcher, whatever you think of her or her party, she was just a lady doing her job. But it’s ok for them to sing about all those deaths. Honestly, they just need to move on from Hillsborough themselves. Not forge, never forget, but move forward. They have gone on and on for decades and that in itself feeds the trolls. I know (well knew as both are passed on) two men who were on duty for South Yorkshire Police at Hillsborough that day. Not of seniority, just beat bobbies/mounted police doing their job. Both said that day never left them up until they passed not only because of what they saw but what they were dragged through afterwards. Interrogation and blame towards everyone working for SYP coming from Merseyside.
  22. You don’t think the post you quote may have been just a little bit, sorry, understatement, completely and utterly sarcastic?
  23. What I noticed about the Sheffield United pen that interested me was that Baldock jumped up and tried to carry on playing! Shows that he didn’t think it was a pen perhaps but Danny Murphy on MOTD calling it a dive is off the mark for me. Look at the reactions. Looks like he got his body in the way, stumbled under minimal contact but jumped up and tried to carry on?
  24. Given how short we are in those 8 positions, I’d absolutely take Praet in the side now. A division lower and no Rodgers he’ll be very useful to our efforts for the rest of the season if he comes back and stays. May as well rather than loaning him to Torino whilst we pay 95% of his wages and having to strengthen in that position anyway. Doesn’t mean he’s the answer if/when we go back up but in this league, absolutely fine.
  25. I’d be very disappointed if Leeds and Ipswich did the double over us to be fair. It wouldn’t set us up well for next season even if we had still won the league. Id rather have a freak result like a loss away at Sheffield Wednesday and it go down as a bad day than have our nearest rivals doing doubles over us!
