Past caring really. Justice is served and Preston deserve the 3 points.

I agree with your point and you mentioned in a post further up about easing Page in. It’s very close though to all of the options offering so little that it has to be Page. Hopefully you are correct in that we bring someone in. Unfortunately, with 2022/23 in mind, if any club was going to be a case of ‘surely they are going to sign someone……’ it would be us. You think surely we are going to bring a couple of new faces in and it’s not panic stations yet with time left. But we do have previous so I absolutely wouldn’t be surprised if Begovic is it!
-
I genuinely suspect if he hasn’t already been dropped by then, he’d request not to play! I think he was rumoured to have previous with doing that whilst with us!
-
Why? Based on our trajectory, next season, once Fatawu, Bilal and basically what is left of any Premier League talent has left, we will be a bog standard, mid-table side so definitely a place for Alves!

All fine yeah. First part is personal preference. I would prefer a good work/life balance and being happy. I certainly wouldn’t expect sympathy from anyone if I am unhappy in my job yet choose to stay. In terms of the rest, all choices again. They are of course free to spend every last pound they receive on lavish lifestyle or choose to see out their contract. My point was, we hear wording like they can’t move on due to their wages. Strictly not true at all as they could drop their demands. They are not trapped. Whatever the reason, through spending beyond their means, meaning they can’t take a lower wage, or choosing to stay because it’s an easy life, it’s a choice and I won’t feel bad for them like they are trapped. On the spending beyond their means point also, none of them will get a contract like this again, so they will damn well need to learn to live on less, whether that is to expedite a move away that they so want or when they have to take a lower wage upon leaving us.
-
Is this the case with youngsters though? I don’t know so not saying you’re wrong, just wondering. I get if you’re loaning a senior player out, you want their fee amortisation covering and wages. Cor a youngster, say Collyer as I said this in another thread earlier about him going to West Brom, it’s mutually beneficial and they aren’t loaning him to save money but to get him experience. Wages also wouldn’t be too high you wouldn’t think. If we can’t afford this what hope is there?
-
I have had the impression he is still overly paid for how good he is, even if that is not anywhere near our highest (which is more a reflection on us)! But I don’t know anything specifically and your explanation makes perfect sense that they have gone another direction. I suppose it still is the case he was well thought of there, regardless of the reason he was never signed permanently. Having not bounced back likely means they are cutting their cloth though.
-
Comparatively to us But seriously, I just meant in terms of slapping a massive contract down on a player who did a good job for them, but not worth the wages we are paying him. Obviously they may have made some dodgy decisions but they are not as stupid as those running our club!
-
To be fair, if we can’t afford a young loanee, presumably low wages (which we might not even have to pay in full) and maybe a small loan fee (bear in mind as a youngster, they will want him to get experience, not like loaning a senior player to cover their contract), is there even point in going on as a club? Might as well pack it all up.

If you are unhappy where you are, yes, move on and adapt your life style accordingly. For anybody, having costs up to your income is bad financial planning. With the exception of people on minimum wage or close who haven’t got the luxury of saving. So if they are spending all they are getting, they are f***ed anyway! As I have mentioned above, I have done this myself when I was unhappy in my role and made changes accordingly to allow for this so I say this without any hypocrisy at play.
-
Definitely. This is why I can’t have sympathy with them. It’s like they are held prisoner here but in reality, they are only ‘stuck’ here because they are paid a wage nobody else in football will paid and instead of going somewhere else for a measly £30k p/w, they are moping around here on their £60k p/w! I was unhappy in my last job and it was taking a toll on me. I left and moved somewhere I would be happier, and in the process took a salary cut. And you are talking very modest salaries here where yearly salary is less than what these guys currently earn in a week which is sickening! So if they can’t bring themselves to move and take less wages elsewhere, they can’t be that unhappy, and can suck it up and show some effort or continue to take their medicine from the fans in my view.
-
I’m not a fan of Choudhury really, I don’t like his off the field activities and he gets paid too much for his ability. If it was possible to move him on I would. But looking with a balanced perfective, to say he’s not ‘decent’ at Championship level is hyperbolic. We have ambitions of going back up and we want players who are very good at this level. But it’s a big league with a variety of clubs at different levels and if you put him into many sides, your Stoke, Preston, Blackburn etc, he would likely be very good for them. So decent/average Championship player is what he is. Unfortunately, he has been given premier league wages by us. And that explains the Sheffield United point. They did really like him. But sensibly ran clubs will look and say, that’s too much for us to give in wages so we will find a more financially viable option.
-
Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing him given a chance in the league as he will probably offer more than others occupying those positions currently, regardless of age. My only concern is how venomous many of our fans are towards youth players. At his age, he won’t be great every game so it won’t be helpful for him to be insulted and written off…
-
I mean Sheffield United were getting slapped about in the Premier League when he was on loan there so I’m not as surprised as you are that he didn’t get in a Sheff U team in the Championship

Who do you like/rate out of established players
LCFCJohn replied to Claridge's topic in Leicester City Forum
Looking at the individual player threads, the only conclusion to draw is that they are all Sunday league players and we should fold the club -
To be ready to be a star at that level for us when we get there

This.

This isn’t even exaggerating as you quite literally see posts from KPFC lot directly saying it, but many of them have in their heads that KP saved us from administration and/or got us back up from League 1! It shows how recent they must be following us if they can’t remember that they actually arrived when we were back in the Championship for a year or so. But for this reason, don’t expect many of them to see the reality of what you are saying.
-
I don’t think he’s a bad player, certainly good Championship standard. I have always liked him and want him to succeed unlike many of our ‘fans’. But it’s not just about being good enough in that sense, I do wonder if he is unfortunate in us bringing managers in who are using their full backs in a different way. He’s more of an old school full backs and in a flat back for, with a winger in front. Whether he can do the attacking more centrally part of the role is the question mark. That said, he wasn’t given the chance last time under Maresca and was shipped off on a horrific loan that was never going to end up anything but badly. He is showing positive signs in getting into the right areas, had some openings in the Wednesday game so I am happy to see how he develops in the role over the coming games.
-
And Watkins and Lookman. I’m sure there are many others.
-
It’s a correct point (your point I mean). Every player has a price that they would be sold at except maybe a handful at elite clubs. Often a price tag is put on a player that is essentially a ‘not for sale’ tag but a tag all the same. The media love a good narrative and transfer saga to build up and ‘Leicester say Fatawu not for sale’ doesn’t have the same ring as ‘Everton and Leicester apart in their valuations of Fatawu’ does it!
-
Bang on, I made the exact same point with these numbers a day or so ago and got laughed at by a couple of Faes/Vestergaard fanboys! 41 is still under one a game so it’s not awful, lets not overreact. But it’s bang average and the figures from last year, Burnley and Leeds show what a good defensive record is. It’s shows for a side pushing 100 points, this was more a reflection of our attacking side that carried the defence whereas with Burnley, you can see it was the defence/GK that carried them. Without KDH and his goals and assists, and Vardy’s goals, we need the defence to be much better this season if we have ambitions to go up. Playing two players who are very average defenders at this level is a bad bad call. Also, those who essentially say, ah they’re fine at this level just not if we go up. What do you seriously think is going to happen? If they are the main partnership this season and we go up, of course it’ll be them again next season!
-
We can hope ! The fact he is linked with nobody shows it is only a certain section of Leicester fans plus only managers we seem to have that rate him!

We could probably do without Palace selling Guehi. I mentioned Bournemouth before but to be fair, their MO is more likely to be young replacements from overseas markets. Palace though have had a lot of success with picking young players from the Championship but also young English players generally, so they might see an opportunity if they lose Guehi.
