Julián Carranza joins on loan - Official
LCFCJohn replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I have not intentionally criticised expressing some disappointment based on the factors I have said (pace/previous league experience etc). If I misinterpreted what you were initially justifying (thinking you were justifying outright negativity and not giving the guy a chance) then I hold my hands up and apologise. And if you personally are giving him a chance and won’t be on his back if he doesn’t bag in his first 5 minute cameo, then again, fair enough. We probably have the same view somewhere in the middle in truth. As said, I probably misinterpreted, but what annoys me is outright negativity and calling out a guy who hasn’t even stepped foot on the pitch for us. And there has definitely been a lot of that (and yes I have got better things to do than go back and quote a load of posts). Honestly, our standing as it is now, and strikers being in demand, we won’t get perfect. I would have loved to see us invest in Ivanovic from Millwall but it wasn’t to happy. I do have concerns about Carranza but also hope that as an unknown, he could be a really good player for us. -

There’s been so many posts just outright calling him shit . Many aren’t even willing to give him a chance. As I have said twice now but will say for a third, a balanced view is to take on board what has happened before but give him a chance. Let’s be honest, the lad might as well go back to Holland now with our fanbase. -

Where did I say we should be universally positive about every signing in my reply to you? I said views should be balanced and shared my own view. I have watched the clips and think he looks a good finisher, can clearly use both feet and seems to sort his feet out quickly to get the shot away. The latter may be affected by being in a league where there is even less time. However, his record in Holland hasn’t been great (thought he has only been there a year and there are all kinds of reasons why it doesn’t work for a player at a particular club) and there are concerns from the feedback around his pace and ability to do it in a more difficult league. All in, I have an open mind until I see him play for us and in the Championship and if, given a run and a chance, he is not good enough, I will say it then. I am critical of those who just say he is shit without even giving him a chance here. There are plenty writing him off even if you choose to ignore that. I am not critical of those who are wary based on the evidence but willing to give him a chance. -

It was an absolutely fair comment. There’s a difference between looking at it in a balanced way, like positives two footed, seems to have quick feet to get shots away, and the negative sides such as standard played at and pace compared with outright negativity, ‘he’s shit mate’! I believe it is a case that some people want to get their opinion in straight away so they can stick by it and say I told you so. Rather than just giving him a chance and judging based on what we see when he lines up for us. Self fulfilling prophecy comes to mind. People convince themselves and will him to fail, done back him and he will fail. -
Bilal El Khannouss loaned to Stuttgart - Official
LCFCJohn replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Nowhere near talented enough and certainly done nothing for us to be behaving that way. Mahrez acted like a t**t but gave us so much and it was a big move. Really hope we never see him again, clearly a s*** attitude. As long as we get the money next summer, his career can fizzle out as guys with characters like this don’t deserve the privilege they have. -

Nothing like the same. There was no noise around either of them, no sitting out games, they went on loans much earlier in the window and didn’t prevent us building our squad for the season without them. Will be really poor if he has forced his way out and comes back and fans should remember and make it uncomfortable for him. -

Shouldn’t be welcomed back. He has made it clear he doesn’t want to be here. If it is a loan, he damn well needs to make sure there’s a permanent move somewhere next summer! -
It doesn’t. But having a lack of central midfielders does…
-
With a year left and his long term pattern of not performing for us, despite improving performances under Marti, I would say sell. However, we can’t go through to January with Skipp and want away Winks (if he doesn’t go) as our only options. Feels like we have backed ourselves into a corner where we will need to take the hit on him leaving for free next summer.
-
Can’t see us bringing anyone in. There’s no ‘serious’ rumours from reputable sources. I just think we are shit scared to bring anyone in. BEK out of course, probably the last money coming in, a loan or two out maybe (Alves). A quiet day that will frustrate.
-
You know, if he was to join a Championship side (not us with the history), he might actually do alright. But maybe back to France is a better move for him.
-
Ah ok, thanks. Bring in ‘a’ 10 or ‘about’ 10? Latter might be overly ambitious!
-
Not ideal but if that does happen, we should be working to ensure targets are lined up to come in on January 1st if we know that funds are there. None of this messing round until the end of Jan. We have 20 games between now and then, a lot and we might be off the pace but it’s still over 20 games to go if we can act earlier once the window reopens. I think we could still bring in loans anyway unless I’m wrong?
-
I can’t believe you wrote all that without mentioning them up the road! You’re losing your touch
-
I do think there are right to try and move forward in some way. They have had years of Wilder with Heckingbottom between, a few games at the start of one season with Jokanovic that didn’t work. There is a world of managers outside of old school Yorkshire guys. It seems Selles has been a bad appointment but I get the logic behind the change even if it hasn’t worked.

Needs a new contract or he’ll be off next summer…

A first English out field player for you in a while. How do you feel?

LCFC 2-0 Birmingham, post-match thread
LCFCJohn replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
Nail on head. Both goals were great and really easy on the eye. Forward intent and breaking the lines quickly for the first and a peach of a ball by Monga for the second. Really enjoyed both. It does seem under Marti that we are trying to get forward quickly. When we restart from the back, it does feels like we are looking up rather than just knocking it back. Hopefully a wake up call to those who claim direct = hoofball. -
Agreed. When was the last time we had a manager who you could really warm to, who was likeable and related to the fans. Probably have to go back to Shakey when he took over from Ranieri. Probably Dean Smith would be but that was very short lived in bad circumstances. The last 4 (not including Smith) RVN, Cooper, Maresca, Rodgers all very unlikeable. Puel before that was just unrelatable more than anything, not offensive as such.
-
And the rest of our centre backs are constantly poor yet get game after game to be continually shit. Academy players get one game and are written off. I hope he gets a move elsewhere. He clearly has a lot of talent but it will be wasted if he stays here. Actually is the sort Palace would come for if Guehi goes. They have done well taking young talent from the Championship before.
-
Not a great choice is it
-
Probably Bamford 🤮
-
I mean I defended him for a long time but feel he needs to go. However, it is clear we aren’t signing anyone as there is nothing serious or reputable to indicate we are even in the market. So what, we go through until at least January with no actual striker? As Ayew certainly isn’t one!

LCFCJohn replied to Foxes96's topic in Leicester City Forum
16 shots and 1 on target against Oxford, quite different from 30! -
The Sheff Weds game was painful. Ayew’s shooting is so weak, such a lack of power. There was a few that were just easy catching practice for Charles as they actually barely made it distance wise to him! He just is not a striker.
