Requiem doesn't have any story ties to RE7 or Village from what I've seen so far. It's primarily lore from RE2, and Outbreak 1+2 and copies game-play formulas from RE1 and RE4 really with first person elements of RE7/8. If you take your time you are getting min 14 hours from the experience but yes still relatively pricey.
