  1. Like most or you, I'm no fan of the way the club is being ran. But I do reassured by the fact that most of the powers that be are well versed in dealing with situations like this, & have a track record in resolving these issues largely in our favour.
  2. Still calling BS on this one.. No chance he will do this in AFCON & World Cup year. Unless he's very stupid...
  3. Yes. If he refuses to play, he won't get paid.
  4. Completely agree with all of this. I would say that the Championship is already Europe's sixth most watched league & is still growing if you look at the increasing TV money it gets. Wheres elsewhere in Europe, it's going down. Look at the disaster that happened with Ligue 1's TV rights. One club executive (can't remember who) said with absolute confidence that in five to ten years, the Championship will be seen as a kind of "EPL2" to international audiences. And yet the stigma remains.. You talk to many European fans about British football, it's EPL & nothing else exists. To tell a brief story, my parents live in Tenerife, & when I visit every year my dad & I take in a CD Tenerife game. When we were last relegated I went out there soon after & got chatting to some locals & a mixture of Dutch & German tourists outside of the ground. When the conversation turned to Leicester they reacted to me as if my dog had died. One guy even put his hand on my shoulder! Your right about SA. Thankfully this sportswashing adventure is already going the same way as it did with China. It's only happening because the Saudi Royal Family are fearful of possible revolution against them by their numourous & increasingly powerful youth demographic (they had a baby boom about 15-20 years ago). But they don't appear to be so interested in their local football, & other sports that they bought (like LIV Golf). Soon they will stop paying for it all, & it will wither away. We're already hearing rumours that they are going quiet on Newcastle...
  5. Also I don't think there was ever a release clause. Somebody would have triggered it. I think that Tovalieri guy has been talking sh!t all summer. So maybe we could take his latest missive with a pinch of salt too....
  6. Like many Continental European players & fans, he must think there is a stigma to playing in the Championship. But it could be very good for him. He has some wonderful qualities as we all know, but he's at the stage where he needs to actually achieve. If you look at his stats in his career he hasn't really done anything in terms of goals & assists. Which is what the top clubs look for. If he stays here, then could really lead a team, achieve something & get his stats up in doing so. Then, his agent can then go to top clubs & say "Look at what my client does". We all know that he could take this division by storm this season & that will seriously benefit his career. Especially if he has a good World Cup. As with the examples of KDH & Rutter. An excellent season in the Championship can lead to some serious moves. If he goes to a Palace, West Ham, Leeds or Sunderland & they have a bad season then he will be back to square one. If he goes to Saudi Arabia his career will frankly stop dead for however long he's there. See Gabri Veiga (a much better player) as an example.
  7. Rodgers' Celtic have just been knocked out of the Champions League by Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan. wawaweewa
  8. Get In! Possibly the biggest thing that could happen for us in this window. Now lets hope him & Fatawu can continue to develop a partnership as the season progresses.
  9. I like this. He's a genuine roaming, creative & attacking outlet that we will absolutely require if or when El-Khannouss leaves. He has clever & imaginative movement on & off the ball, has a bit of pace. So he should be able to press & move down the pitch with the ball. Can take decent left footed set pieces. Doesn't offer much defensively, so on that alone, I wouldn't play him on the wing, especially when you consider that most threats in this division come from wide spaces. Many people on this thread are worried about how he will adapt to the league in terms of physicality. I would argue that would be counterbalanced by the fact that players like him can find more space in leagues like this. After all many players from the Eredivisie have shone in the Championship in recent years. Like Hamer & Summerville. He had one major injury in his youth, & had an injury disrupted campaign last season. I would argue if it wasn't for that, the player wouldn't be available to us. Other than that his injury record isn't that bad. I've not seen any evidence to suggest that he will be particularly expensive. I don't see personal terms being an issue. The Eredivisie doesn't pay well in terms of salaries (even the bigger clubs), & Feyenoord want to sell, so I can't see him going for £5-6m on 25-30k. Maybe even less. I'm all for looking at cheap options in lower ranked leagues, but that's not risk free either. I really wanted Gronbaek from Bodo/Glimt a season or two ago. But he's stunk the place out at Rennes & Southampton since. But this player good age at 26. He has proven quality at European level & caps for Holland. There is every evidence he could shine at Championship level.
  10. A proper no10 with good technique & skill. Takes decent left footed set pieces...
  11. £10m with one year left on his contract? Good deal! So thats circa £50m raised. Enough to start bringing players in?
  12. Do it Palace... I dare you. A young prospect who is on the cusp of becoming a big name in the game vs a euro journeyman. The very definition of 'slow twitch'. Seriously worth calling their bluff.
  13. Glad that we're not just rolling over & having our tummies tickled by Crystal F***ing Palace. Who, lets face it, are one bad season away from being in bigger sh!t than we are...
  14. In May of last year I went to that u16 final vs Man City at the KP. We won 2-1 & it should have been more. If the teams had played in neutral kits you would have thought that we were Man City. We dominated the ball & able to get around Man City with pace & flair at almost every stage of the game. I also think they were fielding over age players as theirs were physically bigger than ours (& Heskey's son was playing for them, & I swear to god he's over 16). As I was watching Monga send their full back for his 10th hotdog, it dawned on me that this is the first exclusively Seagrave generation. These players would have come in at 12 & did the bulk of their youth development there. Not Belvior Drive like KDH, Thomas, Barnes etc.. Fast forward a year, & three of that very team have made first team appearances at 15,16 & 17 & are showing genuine promise, with more on the way. Seagrave is working. It's not the vanity driven white elephant people on here seem to think it is.
  15. A lot of salty Charlton fans on SM think that we are going to get relegated...
  16. Massive three points for City here. Far from our best but they put up & did the hard work & got rewarded for it. Normally. I'm a bit of a tactics tragic, but right now that doesn't matter. Winning does. I'm concerned that we don't look coherent yet. The players seem unsure in what they are doing & not quite getting their execution right. But it's important to bear in mind that this is probably the worst team we will put out all season (hopefully). But Friday night will be a struggle. If we can get two or three wantaway players sold & adequately replaced, then we can really build some momentum as the season progresses, & develop some winning mentality as we go. Now.. I'm off for a stress wank...
  17. Personal thing. Went out of his way to be nice to my dad once... Bit silly I know. But you are right. West Ham is a move that can end badly because lets face it, it's not a good sporting project, & aside from that one season with Moyes, the place has been toxic for many decades. In fact I would wager that they are the most underachieving club in European football when you consider their catchment area & size of their fanbase. Oh yeah, it's also good to see Potter exposed as the charlatan that he is.
  18. I feel sick for him, I really do. We all know he's a good keeper. Lets hope he can turn it around. But West Ham & their fans are a harsh bunch so he may have his work cut out...
  19. £5m mate. But yeah where is he?
  20. First Kristiansen now this. Starting to feel emotional....
  21. 12m? Not bad for a player we nearly released at 18 (story was that Rodgers went over the head of the youth staff to get him a contract, same with Fitzhugh). Still uneasy about selling to a divisional rival though...
  22. Now thats an Eze replacement...
  23. Absolutely! Yes there is a big drop off between Hutchinson & McAteer. But they do have Philogene on the left who I think will be his more direct replacement. McAteer would probably slot in on the right, where their best option atm is Clarke, who is a bit wasteful. My main worry about this is that Ipswich seem to do very good things with not very much. If we sell him to them it could end up biting us on the arse...
  24. Disagree. Sorry. He will be very useful at Ipswich. Look at what they achieved with s*!t like Wes Burns on their wing...
  25. Not a fan of selling to a divisional rival. Plus I rate him. he's one of the few players we have that can get into goal scoring positions. Despite having a limited technique. I don't expect our players to be brilliant, or win beauty contests. But I do expect them to be effective. Which Kasey can be. Maybe thats what Ipswich sees in him. **DUCKS FOR COVER**
