  1. End of season transfer fee looking promising....
  2. Well he's so obviously finished here he might want to get away asap & play some football this season. Speaking personally, I would be willing to take a limited financial hit if a nice opportunity arises. Like on the continent or some nice part of the US maybe.. But yeah I'm being altruistic. I'm sure Winks is the kind that knows that he's on the biggest money he will ever get in his lifetime - so will milk it for all it's worth. Even if it means being sat at home while he is theoretically in the prime of his career.
  3. If he doesn't move on in this window, I can see him being offered some sort of settlement. His contract is up at the end of the season so they can probably get it done for a few hundred thousand.
  4. I also can't see Maresca to Man City working out either. The same tactical setup as Guardiola but not as good. I was always weirded out by his Pep cosplaying. & if I think that, what would the Man City first team think? At least the ones who didn't work with him there, which by 2027 will be most of them.
  5. Jorge Mendes is a genius if he pulls this off... I (still) rate Maresca as a potential world class manager. But this is the biggest job in world football by a mile & I have doubts about his temperament. Florentino Perez won't tolerate any attitude from him. At all.
  6. I thought I heard that the club had changed the payroll date to the end of the month back in the summer? Around the time Van Nistelrooy was sacked... Maybe it was backdated for the non football staff.
  7. Well this thread is a grim read... I for one think that Jakub is already one of the best goalkeepers in the division despite his youth & inexperience. If not the best. & has put in some excellent performances this season. A lot of the mistakes attributed to him on here were actually the result of collective defensive errors, rather than just him alone. He's a top young goalkeeper who could go onto big things. It scares me to think how high his ceiling could be. We as supporters must have the long term health of the club in mind here. Not mere retribution for errors. Yes he dropped a major clanger on Saturday. But what good will dropping him do the club? What good will it do to send him to a lower level on loan, where he will stagnate. He needs to play at this level to continue his progression. What good will it do for the club to recall a 38 year old Begovic, who has no long term future here? Next week Nelson or Page might make mistakes that will cost us. Should we drop them too & replace him with Faes & Winks? I really believe that this talented generation of younger players we have can form the nucleus of our squad for years to come & (in time) provide us some success. But we have to be patient & let them develop. It's vital to the long term health of our club that they come good for us. & they do that by playing games for us, & gaining experience in as higher profile games as our environment can offer them. Yes they will make mistakes, maybe cost us points occasionally. But it will also provide major learning points for them that will make them better players sooner. You do all of your best learning in life on the back of mistakes. Life is trial & error.
  8. Yesterday I guess... It's really the only chance I get to go out with my dad & nephew, & we always have a laugh. I like all of the people in my vicinity in B3, & it's great to catch up with them all. And it's always better when we win. I know the performances aren't what we want them to be. But as we all know, the cost of a season ticket doesn't entitle us to slick football & wins.
  9. It does all sounds very familiar. In fact it's a regular pattern regarding Rodgers. After overspending his club's budget, the first two seasons will be brilliant. Fans & press will (rightly) praise his work & football, may win a trophy or two. Then in season three the budget will have to be curtailed - which is understandable, as money is finite regardless of the size of the club - He will row with the board, start briefing his mates in the press about how hard done by he has been, starts sulking in public, alienating everybody at the club in the process, especially the players & results fall off the proverbial cliff... It happened at Liverpool (briefing the press that he didn't want free agent Balotelli), twice at Celtic (fallout with Peter Lawwell over transfers, same again this season) & with us (overspending on PSR - no transfer activity until fringe players are sold - & subsequently weren't). Many of you will remember that he nearly joined Newcastle after the Saudi takeover. If that happened I'm sure he would have left there this summer after their spending was curtailed due to PSR, after stinking the place out of course. They made the right decision by appointing Howe, who seems to have a level of maturity & a basic understanding of financial constraints. I'm not your average FT Rodgers hater. I maintain that the football we played in his first two-&-a-half seasons with us was some of the best I've seen our club play. But this pattern repeats itself everywhere he goes. Surely people must see through him now. My idea of a manager/head coach is one that leaves the club in a better place than when they found it. Rodgers never seems to do that.
  10. Met Watkins once at the old Charlotte. Shook his hand & had a brief but friendly conversation... ...still can't shake how weird I feel about it.
  11. Full match replay available on Swansea's website. No need to sign in. https://www.swanseacity.com/news/full-match-swansea-city-v-leicester-city
  12. It's been awhile since I've seen a manager so humiliated as Potter has been. Probably Graham Taylor for those old enough to remember. Those face swap memes... Don't feel bad for him though. He barely deserved the chances he got &, well, he's been utterly found out now.
  13. Monchi is leaving Villa. One of the best DoF's in the business. It's all falling apart over there.
  14. Feel pretty relaxed about this tbh. Coventry are supposed to be one of the better teams in the league but the rarely threatened us. I think we performed well for most periods. Looked a lot more fluid when getting the ball downfield. Defended well for the most part, even bearing in mind Coventry's attacking record. Personally I thought we were better today than we were agains Birmingham. Shame not to find a winner though. Coventry's defensive unit was good today. Maybe this is where we miss Vardy. Felt like a kind of game where he would poach a winner. Not to be... Think that if we are able to repeat this kind of performance, & in this manner, then we will win most weeks.
  15. Bipolar league this year. Really can't call how it will all end up yet...
  16. Well with all things considered, that’s a decent point for us away from home. 10 men for nigh on 70 odd minutes. Never a red card, we can blame the referee for costing us two points there. If we had eleven we would have won the game comfortably. Much better 2nd half but it raises questions about why Ricardo and Winks aren't starting. Managed to get some semblance of control in the game for us with ten men. Which is rare regardless of level. I think the posters on here that are expecting slick performances & big away wins at this stage of the season need to temper their expectations. We are not where we are two seasons ago yet. Patience is required & our players will make mistakes. Otherwise they wouldn't be here.
  17. Born in 1985 & stated going to games in 1991 - Will try to contain recency bias if I can... Schmeichel Ricardo Elliott (People forget that he had a fine technique on the ball) Morgan (A fine 1v1 defender - an undervalued quality) Fuchs Kante Tielemans Izzet (A crime that he never played for England - victim of big club bias) Mahrez Maddison Vardy Bench x9 Flowers G. Mills (massively underrated - Played in a European Cup Final at 17) Maguire (our version - not the Man Utd one) Guppy (so adaptable) Cambiasso (old master) Draper (would have gone onto big things if not for injury) Barnes Lookman Heskey
  18. My main problem with him is that he was terrible for us last season, on & off the pitch. I lost track of the amount of times he & Soumare didn't track runners into the box & it end up in conceding goals. He was supposed to be one of our main players last season, with a salary to match. We were really counting on him to produce some perfomances for us, anchor us to safety & he came nowhere near to doing so. We needed leadership from players like him & he didn't provide. The whole 'Enzo we miss u' thing was childish, embarrassing (like he misses Winks) & was a major sign of dressing room disharmony that, as a senior player, he would be a big contributor to. The whole baby thing I'm reluctant to get into as there is a lot I (& we) don't know about the situation. But the fact it all played out in the press brought controversy to the club at a time when it was the last thing anybody needed. He & RVN should have been adults about the situation & come to a compromise. They didn't, & it cost us. Don't even get me started on his current behaviour. So - for these reasons - I'm disappointed that he's still here...
  19. Happy about the fact we brought in genuine talent - in key areas - without spunking through tens of millions to do so. I think we all agree that we need to be a lot more sustainable than we have been. Would have liked another winger & reserve gk. But BDCR is nearing fitness & although I'm no fan, he will have his uses. Shame that Bilal didn't want to stay but I think Ramsey is a very viable replacement. Mostly happy with the outs. although the 'swamp' isn't fully drained & the squad is still a little large, it has lessened to a good degree & we got some good money via outgoings. For a change. I just hope the players that were seeking moves but didn't get them will knuckle down....
  20. I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight tokerrrrr..
  21. Now this is what I would call a terse statement... https://www.lcfc.com/pages/en/media-article/bilal-el-khannouss-leicester-city-vfb-stuttgart-loan
  22. Now that was peak transfer window! We will never see the like again.
  23. First to break Fofana coming to us.. & Tielemans I think (could be wrong).
  24. This is definitely happening. Le Equipe are an excellent source.
  25. I think I read this screed on a pub toilet wall once... Written in sh!t.
