I did indeed visit Jersey, although it was in January pre-Covid times and from memory, it was very dark, rainy and there wasn't many options for places to visit in the evenings. I would've loved to have visited the pillboxes and anything relating to the history of the island through wartime but there was no time for that during a work trip. I'd take my judgement of the place from this unfortunate scenario with a grain of salt, but hopefully it helps somewhat anyway.

This would be reasonable enough. But cancelling this weekend's fixtures is unnecessary. As others have said, what better place to demonstrate genuine respect than at the football this weekend with a minutes silence and belting out the national anthem? If anything I suspect many will now feel resentment about showing respect after having this decision made for them.

Could not agree more with this. The entire experience is sanitised beyond belief. Not to mention when trying to have a conversation with a mate on Sunday at HT an advert's volume completely drowned it out, almost busting our eardrums in the process. What does that achieve? It's got to the point where I travel to matches and envisage the best case scenario involving celebrating a goal with this pathetic forced celebration music (and then again if we win). I know that if we score, the music will still affect my enjoyment and so I question if it's really worth going. There was a great post on the forum a while back about remembering some of the most euphoric moments of recent seasons - Man United 2014 & 2015 & Liverpool 2016 spring to mind. Then imagining those moments with this goal music. It's completely ridiculous that people so out of touch get to make the decision to keep it.
