  1. Accidentally cutting up my brand new bank card instead of the one that's just expired.
  2. Sorry to hear that, Buce.
  3. It keeps us amused.
  4. The new trend for 'furry' nails. Why?
  5. Why is booking train tickets so bloody complicated? I'm sure I've just bought the wrong tickets.

    Snow

Snow in Norfolk this evening. Has just about settled.
  7. Is washi a variation on sushi?
  8. Can I request a hot-tub and bar, please?
  9. No. A healthy adult would need to eat at least 7 bananas a day to even meet the recommended daily amount of potassium. You'd need to eat a ridiculous number to overdose on potassium. Kidneys can struggle to process bananas, though, so people with kidney disease need to be more aware. They can also cause constipation.
  10. I hate to shatter your illusions but it's not just a man thing - I love maps, atlases, travel guides, etc. In fact, for a long while I wanted to be a cartographer.
  11. No problem.
  12. The Book People have got The Times Concise Atlas for sale at £19.99 instead of £90. http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=571248&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100&searchTerm=atlas+times Or they've got The Times Comprehensive Atlas for £120 instead of £150. http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=517760&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100&searchTerm=atlas+times PM me if interested as if you mention my name (as an existing customer) you (and I) get 15% off (which if you're spending that much is worth having!)

    Snow

Or in my case, 5 jumpers - and I still feel freezing.
  14. Formaldehyde smells sexy? I'd no idea.
  15. Am thinking of signing up for an anatomy course that includes the dissection of cadavers; which seems fascinating and daunting in equal measure. I'm not particularly squeamish but can't quite decide how I feel about this. Don't want to go along and throw-up / pass out
  16. Unlocks the door, turns on the heating and puts the kettle on.
  17. Remember this when he next asks you to cover one of his jobs.
  18. Well that's hardly persuaded me to give it another go!
  19. Hmm, might do.
  20. Have you ever seen parents trying to drop their kids off outside school? It's like deluxe bloody dodgems! All because Tarquin and Annabella can't walk a few extra yards because their Boden wellies might get dirty.
  21. Don't know exactly; some nebulous reason. Started reading it for coursework when I was in high school... I remember I hated it, and gave up on it I think, but can't remember anything of the story. Having said that, it was a very unhappy time for me - perhaps it's subconscious memories that I've linked in some way.
  22. That's made me feel like a true air-head. (I'm reading some trashy chick-lit at the mo!)
  23. You might think of some by later in the year though? Like you, I can't really remember any books I've abandoned - I tend to stick with them until the bitter end however crap they are! Books that I find intimidating tend to be excessively long, boring (in my mind that often means historical and/or most of the 'classics'), or ridiculously complex. So, for me, intimidating includes War and Peace, Lord of the Flies, Frankenstein, The Bible (!), Gormenghast, anything by Thomas Hardy, Don Quixote, etc. I think I might give 'Cloud Atlas' a go as a book that intimidates me and that's only really because I've heard such conflicting views, and the format seems so odd, that I fear I might be wasting my time - plus it simply doesn't really 'appeal'.
  24. I really want to start reading for pleasure more - I used to read loads of books but seem to have got out of the habit. Anyone else going to give this a go?
  25. I do now!
