He played games for us there last season plus 21 for Palace the year before and it’s not a given he would be worse, when he plays striker he comes far to deep often in the wrong position whether that’s a byproduct of not receiving the ball enough or just being a shit forward is up for debate. Playing as a winger and doing it would be more beneficial for supporting the play. At the end of the day the club doesn’t have the luxury of buying new players for every position so it’s about maximising what we can out of underperforming players. As per the original point if Fatawu was sold and it meant someone could come in and replace his output or exceed it and that also meant we could get a striker, Ayew wouldn’t have to perform that well on the right to replicate what Mavididi has contributed in terms of goals and assists if the left side of play become the focal point instead.
