I wonder if he left it as late as possible in the hope the club might come calling. Seems odd to leave it this late, clearly if it was his choice to leave he would’ve had options ready to go soon after leaving.

He only has a year left, and has started every game so the manager considers him an asset and if we don’t plan on bringing anyone else in then surely it’s better to keep the strongest 11, If PSR as reported is not a concern any more.

And how much was spent bloating the squad last year that people seem to ignore, that are additional costs on 23/24

Wages cost money though, unless there are clubs that will subsidise wages and that seems to defeat the reason why the majority of clubs want the players off the wage bill to go on loan in the first place. Plus any decent young player at a top club probably on at least a few million a year
