That's a good point. If he does go to Brighton, I think that's a big indicator of RvN being on his way.

I've been looking at the CV's and reputations (as summarised by a few commentators) of the 5 leading candidates in current betting:- Rohl 4/7 Dyche 11/8 Carrick 7/1 Rosenior 8/1 O'Neil 10/1 Obviously, by a country mile, Rosenior is the leading candidate - his record and reputation is streets ahead of the others. But there is no way he'll want to leave a Ligue 1 club, playing in Europe and having just signed a new 3 year contract. Even if he did, there's way we can afford the sort of compo needed to get him. Rohl looks to me, like the next best. He's done well at Wednesday and has a good CV as Assistant at a number of clubs. The problems with him of course, are he's still officially under contract (so could have compo issues), he wants to go back to Germany and he is also a very attractive candidate for clubs in a much better position than us (eg Ipswich, Brentford or even Sheffield United). Of the rest, the standout for me, is, surprisingly, Carrick. Initially, I had doubts, especially after his record over the last season or two at Boro, when he appeared to blow their play off chances. But looking at how he was supported, looking at what resources were available to him, I think he's not entirely to blame. If you look at his overall managerial statistics (a 46% win record in nearly 3 years at Boro, plus how well he did at United, as a Coach, as well as being in Caretaker charge there - one similarity with a certain guy!), his style of play (pretty attractive, when you put it against Dyche's) and the reputation he has garnered over his managerial (and playing) career, he stacks up pretty well. OF THE 5, he'd be my pick. But of course, there are FAR better candidates out there, its just difficult to see Rudkin or Top noticing them!

We can but hope. But I'm resigned to the fact that he is in pole position for us now!
-
Yep, my reading is that BBM is waiting on us to make a decision whether to appoint him. If we don't do that soon, or decide to go for Dyche, then he'll be off to Cardiff. I still think he'd be a much better bet than Dyche.

Yep. The longer this drags on, it looks increasingly like it will be him (and it does sound like it will be 1 July before we can do anything), as the external candidates get fed up waiting, or get snapped up by someone else (eg Rohl to the Bundesliga). Barry-Murphy is there, under contract and a 'ready meal' - with all the connotations of a ready meal (quick to do, moderately tasty, not the healthiest meal, but OK and fills a hole!). He'd be here until we get hold of a better recipe to cook ourselves (mid way through next season?), but it could be a long time before we eat a Michelin Star Chef's meal again ...... ? years !

It's logical - no compo to get him, no compo to sack him, he knows the players, the set up, he has a good record of working with younger players (as Pep's U21 Manager, after Maresca) and has got a good reputation (although only League management experience with Rochdale, a while ago). He's been linked with Manager jobs at Cardiff & Plymouth. I don't know how much he's tarred with RvN's brush, but IF he is his own man and not been allowed to make any significant mark on our approach this season, he might be OK. We could probably do worse.

Justin Cochrane, Frank's Assistant, is odds on to get the Brentford job (he's currently also working part time with Tuchel & England). He's been Head of Coaching at Brentford for 3 years and its just the sort of 'continuation' management that their Board would go for. So, McKenna is likely to stay at Ipswich. Rohl MIGHT still be available for us, but I think, even if he came, his keeness to go to the Bundesliga, will mean it would be a short stay. My money is now going on Dyche (unfortunately). I think Wymsey's intriguing post is hinting that.

I think Ramadaone tipped Cesc Fabregas a few weeks ago!

I think Luke Williams is more likely - he was Martin's Assistant at Swansea (and went on to manage Swansea last season, before getting the boot). I agree about Dean Thornton and Ben Parker coming, they are remain at Southampton, but Still is likely to bring in his own people in those roles. Rhys Owen is also a possible, but Matt Gill is unlikely, if Pedersen and/or Williams come.

There you go, then - a Buddhist, hence the Thais love him. On the positive side (there is one!), the last time we got any new Buddhists involved (blessing the ground, lifting the 'curse'), we won the League!

Watford or North London I think (she was in Hospital there). She's a Watford girl and a lifelong Hornets fan. So closer to us than Southampton.

Andy King was a Coach at Brizzle, so would have worked with Liam Manning for 18 months. He'll be in a good position to raise Manning's profile with Top and Rudkin.

Strange that nobody here is mentioning Cifuentes. Now West Brom have said they're not interested, I would have thought his, would be a name in the frame for us.
