I think this could be on soon. I've heard rumours that the 'muscle injury' he's supposed to have, is not a significant injury at all, just a minor 'niggle', to have the excuse to pull him out of AFCON, prior to completing for the Villa - and the chance to play in January.

I heard the extra payment clause is based on number of LEAGUE appearances, not Cups.

Yeah, why IS Kristiansen in the squad. He's on a season long loan to Bologna - Luke Thomas and Lewis Brunt aren't in and they're on a similar season long contract.

It will be fascinating to see which of the 5 will be in the final squad selection. My money is on Hermansen, Stolarczyk and Ward. Can't see Smithies staying (he'll be the cheapest to pay off) and I've a sneaking suspicion Iversen might be off to Turkey (along with Daka).

Thanks, I didn't know that. When is the closing date for the squad? It's logical that it follows the end of international transfer windows (Turkey, on 15 September), but logic often doesn't come in to football decisions!

When is the date squad selections have to be made? And is it the usual 25, with unlimited Under 20's?

I've got a sneaking feeling (no more than that - and not based on any fact), that Nacho will still be with us next week. And (sticking my neck out, even more), so will Ndidi. Their involvement in the Tranmere squad (and Ndidis importance in that game), just makes me think that Maresca can't afford to lose them. And the fact that we've had no SERIOUS links with any other striker (and didn't pursue Piroe - despite probably being able to afford him 'on tick' - with likely sales), I reckon he'll be staying. Shoot me down, if you like!

All this speculation about other clubs nabbing him, is based on the fact that Man City want to sell. Although they might consider a sale (for the £15m reported), they might just as likely decide to keep him and only loan him out this season. In which case, a loan to another PL club, is far less likely than one to a Championship club. If so, we must be near the top of the queue, if not the prime candidate.
