  1. The council could start imposing that new builds can only be sold to owner occupiers as part of the planning conditions. They may ultimately be sold to an investor, but it stops cash investors snapping up the popular 2-3 bed properties on cheaper estates. This does drive up the prices on 2 bed houses to the point where they nearly cost the same as a 3 bed house. It wouldn't resolve all issues but it would help. The other thing would be to improve the law to protect the good tenants and the good landlords. Currently landlords get very little protection from bad tenants and bad landlords seem to be able to get away with treating tenants poorly. It may break the business models of the 'stereotypical' bad landlord if they were suitably fined or property seized if they couldn't provide accommodation within the regulations.
  2. I was in support of the idea. Tory b*stards have screwed me so much in tax its not really worth doing anymore.
  3. We don't really make much money on our rental property. I would probably sell it to our tenants for market value if they wanted it, but they choose to rent and are happy that I pay for any repairs, so im not sure they would take me up on the offer.
  4. There is a big push and many brownfield sites are being used. The big issue is that people don't want to live in the city and the cost to build outweighs the value of the property at the end. If we are talking about Leicester specifically, I think this would improve if the transport situation was better. Inner city housing rarely comes with suitable parking and the assumption is that the people living there won't own a car, unfortunately Leicester is a difficult place to live without one.
  5. Was mentioned in another thread. This is a truly hideous piece of outdated Architecture. How the council have passed something so dreary is bizarre.
  6. Its where we were and have now had a child but it will be our only one. By having one child we can offer him the sort of lifestyle we want and still be comfortable. Having 2 would involve more compromise financially and I think many couples think in this way now. We were torn between having one and just filling the sad void with a healthy lifestyle and lots of holidays.
  7. It's a genuinely hideous and outdated piece of architecture.
  8. Just checked they are now available again. Seems to be a trial and error job
  9. I'm getting it now, but ordered fine this morning. The code system for collecting locally appears to be working too, though it doesn't know whether the collection point has any kits available.
  10. As an aside, I think the government should be fining people selling NHS kits on eBay!
  11. I reckon people are more concerned with testing when visiting family than they are going to work. I know I am as I can socially distance at work but not when visiting someone's home.
  12. Could be that. Either way there are plenty of kits available, the demand over Christmas has been ridiculous. In January when there are less family gatherings there will be loads available
  13. Very true! I tend to order in advance of when we need them rather than when we run out. Though thus far, the test kit process has been hugely efficient each time I have used it
  14. I have just ordered a box of tests from the government website. It appears as though the supply issue was a temporary blip, who would have thought it?
  15. Local government. Got to keep them in jobs I'm afraid!
  16. You don't deal with planning officers often do you! They should be glad they don't live in Blaby, horrendous to deal with.
  17. They might be expecting an architectural drawing which would be in the order of £250-400. Keep hoping that the os plan is all they want!
  18. The block plan normally has the red line boundary. For something simple like this I would use a Google map and mark over the top what you are doing as well as showing a red line for the boundary. If you need a proper block plan, then you can buy an OS plan of your garden from: https://www.buyaplan.co.uk/ordnance-survey-plans-maps
  19. Many thanks!
  20. It sounds complicated! Thank you for your assistance!
  21. Where do you get them, they aren't on coinbase as yet?
  22. Don't overdo it Tom!
  23. That looks amazing! The plan was rejected outright in this house!
  24. Be 15 quid in 2 days time!
  25. It's normally £25.... Merry Christmas
