Would be interesting to know the tactics behind both the protestors and colleges / states plans. On one hand, if you want people to disperse, you'd think removing resources would be somewhat of a go to. Despite all the contrived content posted on sites like twitter however, there's often a core group of headstrong, resilitent and fairly well organised people that would and probably could continue in the face of harsher action, at least for a while. In some respects, I imagine the college and state would want to avoid that messy uncertainty.

I often enjoy hearing about subjects that try and get at the nature of reality. I think the unease is me reflecting the 'why' factor in these sorts of pictures back at the human experience. If that makes any sense at all! It's for sure exciting as well.

I saw the below the other day. James Webb Turns to Examine Planet Showing Potential Sign of Life Regardless of whether this planet turns out to be a successful candidate in the search for extraterrestrial, in the same way we're getting all these amazing pictures and other data, it seems that the time for such a discovery could come up on us pretty fast. What a day that will be, if there's anything out there at all....

Agreed. I feel grateful to live at a time where photos like these could quite easily be taken for granted. I guess that could be said contextually across time though! These sorts of pictures make me feel somewhat melancholy. So incredibly beautiful, but also gives me a sense of unease

Incredible...and just absolutely bizarre.

Interesting topic, but odd portion of dicussion. From the interview, it seems they are receiving supplies in the same way that people have been provided with supplies by sympathetic organisations in historic protests. She also says that there have so far been no barriers to provision of these supplies. I haven't seen the wider interview, but seems like a discussion around plausible action from the groups involved. The quote not matching the video for online clout is pretty standard twitter.

I only gave it a quick half hour blast, but the graphics certainly look a bit cleaner and everything held together fine from what I saw. I've seen a few posts online where textures haven't loaded, but I also imagine a lot of people will be running previous modded saves that will have been messed up by the version upgrade. I guess we're still playing a Bethesda release at the end of the day!

I re-downloaded on GamePass the other day and it's the updated version.

It might be worth considering whether this behaviour occurs in response to something else. E.g. triggered by stress. If I've ever had similar concerns voiced to me in the past with regards to my own behaviour, it's been when I'm overwhelmed with other things happening in my life. With regards to asking the question, I guess this could be because you are aware something is off and are therefore examining your behaviour with regards to how it relates to those feelings?

Some awesome scenes in those movies. I've only seen the second one once on release, and can still recall the intensity of the opening scene.

Awesome. What a beautiful spot! Love it! There's definitely an otherwise unnatainable feeling that I get, waking up in the middle of nowhere during a trip. Peace, quiet and a lack of any usual responsibilities. Like waking up as a master of meditation. Definitely a caveat on that for me though with regards to rain. Certainly not as peaceful waking up to cook food and break camp after a stormy night. I'd love to have more forests available over here. I find being out in the mountains absolutely amazing, but I took a trip to New Zealand previously and some of my favourite areas were amongst the trees. Often with a river nearby, making for some outrageously comfortable spots. Need to get about exploring Europe more. Saving to hopefully buy a van at some point in the next year, and might be able to better access some locations.

What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?
samlcfc replied to LeicesterBran's topic in Music and Gaming
Struggling for time to play anything substantial recently and hadn't touched my xbox in a few months. Downloaded a few indie games from Game Pass, to see if I could re-kindle an interest. Played a few hours of Jusant, which is a pretty charming platforming game that has you controlling a climber through use of the analogue stick and both triggers to control reach and grip respectively. In addition, the changing landscape provides some of the challenge as you look for routes and a few other mechanics such as rapelling and swinging factor in. The art style is pretty nice, making exploring this giant pillar of rock it has you climbing an enjoyable experience. Theres a pretty chill soundtrack as well, that occasionally seems to carry a decent portion of the vibe behind these sorts of Indie games. A pretty complete package for this sort of release. -
Haven't had a whole lot of spare time over the last few years, but do like to get out camping occasionally. I've just bought a book of 100 wild-camp locations across England, Scotland and Wales, and so hopeful about ticking off a few over the summer months. Just booked a couple weeks in Romania also, during which we plan to do the first secion of the Via Transilvanica. I'm sure a few camping opportunities will present themselves during that trip. Some parts of the States look incredible. I can imagine if you're in a nice spot for accessing an outdoors lifestyle, theres a decent portion of the year that you wouldn't want to do much else.

Very grim stuff. I remember reading a few years ago, about a rise in specifically monkey torture videos being available on popular video hosting sites. You have to wonder what significant steps people like that take along the way to being involved with a group that arranges the torture of animals. Where a persons mind isn't intrinsically wired this way, I cant imagine joining a Telegram group for animal torture is the first step along the road of depravity.

Anyone have any experience with Romania? I'm looking at doing a couple weeks, with ten or so days to play with for hiking. The first section of the Via Transilvanica which runs through Bucovina looks nice, but I don't know too much about the country and it seems there is plenty to see. Would be nice to run through some an area with some more remote villages and some guesthouses possibly. Would be happy to hear recommendations, for more general tourism too.

Where public usage and societal impact is concerned, it seems fair to say that our attitude to the application of computer technology has been somewhat laissez-faire. Considering the current and prospective issues around deepfake technology, I wonder if it would be possible, and necessary, to have a concerted effort for the creation of detection tools to be installed natively on computers. It can be easy to feel alarmist when discussing the dangers around future technology which is yet to hit it's prime, but tech such as this and AI appears to be scaring quite a few folk smarter than myself. There seems to be historic precedent for utilising institutions of the brightest minds to defend society when there is a public need to do so. I wonder if the advancement of this sort of tech will be one of those times, in order to stay ahead of those that would seek to cause harm. I appreciate there will probably be private enterprise appear in this area too, but I do wonder if the market incentive is there for corporations to move fast enough. Edit: Thought it appropriate to say I haven't yet seen the content you mentioned, and so these are just general thoughts.

An interesting theory that paints a weird old picture in the mind. https://www.popularmechanics.com/space/deep-space/a46872441/baby-universe/

This guy's a skeptic where the extraterrestrial hypothesis is concerned, but maintains a consistent investigation into the subject and applies a good level of critical thinking to his evaluations. I remember seeing the below, which was a cool example of the sorts of data the military is playing with. https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/highly-classified-nro-system-captures-possible-tic-tac-object-in-2021/ I should probably have a podcast refresher to be honest. That could be fun. An interesting thing I've seen pop up around the UFO renaissance, is content about historic anti-gravity research and a general discussion with regards to a subjective perception of stagnation within the field of physics. I don't really know enough about it to comment, but it makes for interesting podcast type stuff to listen to. https://twitter.com/EricRWeinstein/status/1766244211987476587?t=0P9gKjt0PqXzScm7RgVFeg&s=19

Personally, I also suspect the first one. Although, given my previous comment on the bizarre nature of existence, I'm not sure I know enough about probability to comment on how unlikely the second option is. Given comments heard from trained observers, it'd be great to know what data some of these military organisations have. If the technology was capable of the things that some people report, however unlikely, it'd totally make sense as to why they wouldn't let people know! I totally appreciate that they wouldn't want to let people know their observational capabilities though, even if what they were observing from other human entities was akin to paper kites.

There's probably relatively clear footage you could find, but I wouldn't be inclined to believe any of it as standalone evidence considering it could be faked given enough effort. If any of the pieces of evidence available did constitute part of an existing phenomena, it'd need to be studied scientifically as far as we could perceive it I guess. I think thats why skeptics and prospective witnesses get frustrated at the lack of transparency from military organisations. Historically, they've been best placed to collect correlating data and have been evidenced as maintaining an active interest for decades. It's an interesting concept. I think humans are good at putting their blinkers on for the most part, going about busily in the context of their individual lives. It's bizarre we're even here tbh lol. I could only hazard what would probably be naive guesses at how or why another intelligent lifeform might interact with us, or what it would even look like.

Interesting topic, considering the implications. Will have to have a read of the report, but pinning it on pop-culture and misidentifications probably isn't going to quell public interest further to any follow-up report on the more recent stories seen in the media. Skeptics arguing in good faith seem to understand that 95% of witness sightings are likely misidentifications, but their interest instead lies in the seemingly serious interest from professionals working at all levels of government, military evidenced by FOIA'd documents. According to 'whistleblowers' that keep popping up, private companies are also accused of being interested and involved. Considering this, it'd be interesting to know whether this investigating organisation even has the capacity or will to investigate appropriately. Seems like any effort would be a struggle, considering these organisations are historically about as transparent as a brick wall. Sometimes with good reason.

Thanks! I suppose for now, any potential influence he has beyond this election just provides an interesting discussion for most of us. We seem positioned for a fairly lively 4 years whoever gets the office.

I've taken a bit of a step back from politics in recent months, but last time around he didn't seem to stop pushing boundaries once he had the ball rolling. It feels somewhat wild that he's in the position to give it another crack after what appears to be at best reckless behaviour during the 2020 election. Will be interesting to see how that story plays out over time. In some respects, with him moving towards being the Republican nomination, such behaviour is at least not a disqualifying factor for being president amongst enough of the US populace at this point in time. I don't think I'd suggest he could overcome what you have stated, although I do wonder if in the vein of 'preparing a successor', he might endorse someone like his Son or some other qualifying crony. Would it be possible for him to be Vice President beyond 2024?

This has been my best tech purchases in recent years. Think I got my moneys worth out of it in the few weeks following purchase. The relaxed social vibe to many of the games/apps is great. Certainly fills a spot where jumping into a console FPS after a day at work doesn't quite feel appealing. Haven't much time to game on it at the moment, although often find myself just chucking it on to watch youtube and movies etc. The Big Screen app can be pretty fun occasionally if you find a good public room.

I had a good one a few weeks ago which may be explainable through cognitive processes. I was laying in bed this weekend morning, facing towards the wall. My wife was on the other side and our dog was between us presumably getting some fussing in. I drifted to sleep and immediately dreamt for a few seconds that I was looking through my dogs eyes. I could see the my snout and a hand travelling up it as if being stroked. A finger caught me in the eye and as I jolted awake I heard my wife say "oh, I'm sorry Molly". I immediately asked her what happened and she told me she caught the dog in the eye whilst stroking her. Super bizarre. I can only imagine that subconsciously heard it happen in my sleepy state, immediately dreamt the scenario before registering hearing the actual words said by my wife. As you can only do with things you can't reconcile with generally accepted reality, I just brushed it off Can't say it didn't pop back into my mind a few times since though.
