Feels fairly insulting to me, and as far from unifying as it is possible to get! People clapping at the end of the match are recognising the efforts of the players, not saluting the management of the Club.

I haven't said I know better, I fully agree that the Club hieracy are failling us, and much of the criticism of them is justified, don't have problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the dad taking his child along to their first match (for instance) being sneeringly labelled a happy clapper.

You don't unify prople for any cause by insulting a large proportion of them.

Not "worshipping", and not denying that there are failings within the Club, but saying that the supercillious tag of "happy clappers" is divisive, arrogant and at best unhelpful.

You are encouraging a toxic atmosphere at the ground which hardly helps the players when things are difficult on the pitch as well as off. Didn't realise it needed spelling out.

The Club don't make that decision, the ref, (or a ref) does.

Calling fans who spend their hard-earned money attending matches "happy clappers" means you're part of the problem, not part of the answer.
