People are making assumptions because, let’s face it… we all have that gut feeling that those assumptions are probably correct for good reason. And people are angry because they don’t want to see and hear things like this again and again - and who can blame anyone for feeling this way? Now, I don’t really want to go into the politics of this right now because it’s not the time or place - that can come in the days and weeks that pass. But there is a very basic logic to consider here and that is the number of applications you allow has to match the capabilities of the support services and case workers you can supply. Finally - the police and press may well be holding back releasing the name of the perpetrator for now - BUT that is more likely to be in the interests of all the emergency crews that attended what must have been an horrific call to be a part of, rather than some deep state conspiracy. They will have had lots to deal with on both an operational and mental level and deserve not be called upon again so soon after - the last thing they need is to deal with any local reactionary unrest at this precise moment. The interests of those on the front line will be in supporting the families effected - and so if we have any respect for their jobs and wish to provide the same support to those families too, the best thing we can do is to stay calm and stay silent - for now - whilst giving our own sons and daughters a little tighter hug tonight.

Thought I’d have a look at some highlights because I was dubious about Rodgers being a genius. Game looked a lot like Chelsea being very wasteful at one end and incompetent at the other. They definitely had Enzo’s patterns of play going forward and looked dangerous in attack, but final balls / finishing / Schmeichel combined to thwart things. At the back it was awful though - Celtic were able to play around them far to easily once past the initial press. Now my instinct tells me James is not a natural choice for the inverted role. He’s no Ricardo that’s for sure. Indeed, it might be Cucurella in their squad that’s better suited, so can (or will) Enzo be able to ‘flip’ his system?

Another question - was it the officer that threw the first punch? It certainly looks like it?

The question I have - is that a legal arrest (or attempt at one)? The suggested charges by GMP were all related to resisting arrest… so what were the initial grounds for attempting to detain?

I think you underestimate the ability of Trump being Trump. Plus there’s his VP pick Vance, that appears to have been a huge gift to the Dem’s. Mean, I have no idea how the ‘having sex with sofa’s’ meme has come about, but that is everywhere - and then to go the ‘people without children route’ - that’s not clever in a society where women are having children later in life.

I assume the artistic direction underneath it all was “how can we piss off Le Pen?” with the Director ultimately going “OUI!”

Alves is one of those. And I’d argue Mavididi probably needs to be the other main one - so that we’re not relying on him to be defensively disciplined on the wing (he can block a passing lane as a pair in a 4-4-2 defensive shape easily enough, but can he track a marauding fullback?). Now I was one of probably only one that actually liked what we did against Shrewsbury by having Fawatu on the left, playing close to Mavididi - I feel they could link well together. Seems Cooper went for the Fawatu + Ndidi link up on the right that worked well last season tonight instead, but it felt awkward, especially when it meant Ndidi essentially playing up front as part of the defensive shape / press

Positives to take: • There’s no way Cooper is starting with a midfield 3 of Winks, Soumare and Ndidi again • Alves got some more minutes - reinforcing the idea he could be considered part of the first team squad rather than on the fringes. That’s all I have now.

I think the main thing I’m taking from this game is not liking the shiny backside to our shorts.

Preferred our shape / ideas against Shrewsbury. Tonight feels more of a hodge podge.
