Have we got this wrapped up yet?
-
So the last update was Dec 2023 - about six months ago where planning was agreed subject to conditions… and if you look at some of those conditions, there’s quite of work involved with them; https://www.constructionnews.co.uk/buildings/leicester-stadium-plans-approved-with-counter-terror-conditions-15-12-2023/ Among the conditions is that before new external cladding is installed, a structural blast engineer is appointed to assess the effects of an explosion on the building, specifically on elements such as glazing and its roof. Other conditions attached to the Leicester stadium expansion include submitting a plan for offsetting biodiversity impacts and limiting the number of non-sporting events at the stadium to 10 per year.

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'

It’s still a horrendous year that will be a relief to the club when it comes off the PSR calculation… no doubt in time for the existing PSR rules to end and be changed to something else. -

For clarity - turning the debt into equity is essentially a requirement when going into the upper loss P&SR limit. -
If expanding an existing stadium means parts of it are out of action during those works - that would equate to an initial hit to revenue because that’s seats you can’t sell. It’s also a huge undertaking - lots of things will need to be agreed and put in place before any concrete announcement could be made.

I think we need to be careful with this thinking because the previous 2 seasons financial positions still factor in how much of a loss can be allowed across this period. Our accounts showed a £90 million loss for 22/23 - and whilst that figure will contain some “allowable losses” that will reduce the total for PSR purposes - that seasons figure will still hold a baring on what we can do in this period , especially as our allowable losses over the 3yrs is ‘only’ £87 million, not £105 million due to the season in the Championship. Obviously we don’t know what the position is for 23/24 - we can assume the KDH sale brought us within PSR limits - but if that’s still a loss, this still plays into requirements going forward. That means even ‘just’ £5 million could be a significant portion of any headroom we might have for transfer fees this term.

England v Switzerland - Saturday 6 July

Think you should try reading the post again. The first part is a setup for the second part. -
You do realise he scored 12 goals for us and laid on 14 assists last season - with many of those being game defining contributions too? I think many understate the guys potential - he certainly has the right mentality and physicality to mix it with the best.

Do you really know nothing of building a positive and cohesive team? Do you not understand why “the usual tripe” about team performances is consistently drilled into players of any team sport? -

Good question. I’d assume Gomez. -

Is this the game something suddenly clicks and we smash a team 4-1? -
Part of me thinks it wouldn’t take much to change things with the same players. Just play Rice holding by himself, with Bellingham and Mainoo together slightly ahead - and encourage them to drift wide into spaces just ahead of Saka and Foden. That should then create room for balls to feet to Kane and more importantly, balls into the channels for our wide men to run onto. Add in centre half splitting and full backs with licence to get forward - you have attacking combinations that can create overloads and penetrate.

That’s why I’ve felt the mass calls for player x,y,z is largely irrelevant. Southgate hasn’t coached any pattern of play - there’s no idea on how these players are supposed to move and interact with each other or how to feed your focal point striker. They have, at least, seemed to have done some work on set pieces. But any attack in that half has come from off the cuff play and individual moments.

Take P&SR out of things for a moment - there is a long history of clubs throughout the game that have looked to balance their books through transfer fees. Indeed, selling a prize playing asset each season was this clubs operating model prior to it trying to sustain a top 6 place and before P&SR were ever really talked about. Truth is having a go at the regulations doesn’t disguise a simple fact - the clubs base income levels do not match the level of aspiration many fans hold for the club. -
Where’s the “we’ve never had a Paraguayan 🇵🇾 play for us before” comment?

What do you mean probably? 😂

I ponder if Cooper’s experience with youth players (Liverpool’s academy, England youth setup) is what focused Leicester on him as the guy they wanted. That they know in order for this club to grow - it now needs to lean heavier on developing it’s own prospects. -

This idea needs to be tempered a little. P&SR rules are over a 3yr rolling period. I’m pretty sure we still have a year of a very significant loss within our current financial cycle and of course the Championship season’s reduced limit too. Also - I expect we’re still running at a loss generally. So yeah, I can’t imagine we’re clear of these difficulties yet. -
There isn’t one - it should always be remember form is temporary, any comparison is subjective and player performance largely depends on the settings and situations around them.
-
That’s not exactly a fair comparison is it.
