Next England Manager?

I have no idea how truthful this is - and itâs both unlikely and would be extremely unfair on her because sheâd get a huge black lash if she was appointed⊠⊠but I wouldnât be totally against it - the way sheâs had the womenâs team setup and playing is really impressive -

Yes @Bilo - heâs a World apart from the other managers mentioned to be in the frame from that. The question mark has to be what happened at Chelsea and then Bayern⊠was part of the problem him losing the respect of the players? -

I do like the idea of Tuchel - and I imagine heâd enjoy positive references from olâ Harry and Reece if opinion was courted. The thing that might count against him is his rumoured out of work habits. -
Southgate steps down as England manager

Iâve never known a team that has consisted of so many constantly criticised starters to perform so well results wise! I think a big miss for Gareth this time round was Maguire - as well as Guehi played, Harry is a bit more aggressive defensively and was always a threat from set-pieces. One of the frustrating things in this tournament - and something Gareth will possibly look back on with regret - he clearly knew what some of the key issues with his starting 11 were, because his substitutions showed that. Yet, for whatever reason, he never really moved away from that starting 11 - Mainoo for Trent was only the real unforced change, given if Shaw was fit, he would have started throughout. -
Matt OâRiley - signed for Brighton

Not necessarily - we can and probably will be banking on another largish sale before the end of June next year. -
They will know exactly the same as the sources they quote in their tweets⊠but to give them their due, they quote the sources and donât pretend to be the providers of original information.
-
What are you on about - this topic is only on page 29 so far - itâs miles short of those two.
-
Until Chelsea decide they want him / whenever PSR demands require a sale.

The delay in announcing was apparently caused by club officials struggling to obtain the appropriate musical rights for the song used in this video. ABBA were not keen Iâve heard and it required quite some convincing.

I wouldnât subscribe to your suggestion they wouldnât be popular again now as fresh candidates in the current era (i.e. unburdened from political decisions they have made whilst in office) - both were and are skilled politicians that knew how to play the political landscape and resonate across key demographics of voters. Mean if we think about it - Blair came in at a time when Tory sleaze was at itâs height, but was seen by many at the time as a fresh alternative (hence the wave of optimism that was felt on his victory in 1997). Obama came in not long after the Clinton âaffairâ - followed President Bush - and represented a historic first for America, and again enjoyed a similar wave of optimism upon gaining office. The other key thing is - what we see on social media and from political commentators is pre-judged positions that will never change⊠but these are ultimately outliers of public opinion. The quiet majority tend to be like most ordinary people - willing to give people a fair chance to show their good side.

Southgate steps down as England manager

Really? Minimal club experience (few games as caretaker manager) and I donât think heâs reached more than 50 games for the Under 21âs. Managing the full set-up, with big-ego proâs would be very different to the juniors. I donât see the FA going this way personally - much to big of a risk. -

Heâs got out at the right time. Englandâs upcoming Nations League fixtures of Ireland, Finland and Greece are no gimmies AND World Cup qualifying might be tricky given I believe weâre not going to be a top seed. Whoever the new man is - theyâll need to hit the ground running. -
Isnât war already happening on the European continent? And yes, the US removing financial support for Ukraine would put their defensive effort in a very tricky position⊠but maybe that would lead to a negotiated peace with Russia gaining some of the disputed territories? Something that would allow all parties to claim some sort of victory?
-
Ok, but if a fair proportion US population kinda like that sort of stuff and will vote for it in sufficient numbers - what can you do?

Tuchelâs available isnât he? But is he too kinky (rumoured) for the FA? -

Iâd go Howe over Potter personally - just think thereâs a bit more about him. I do question, however, if either are âwinningâ managers. And looking through social media this morning and all the strongly tribal opinions being offered - it does remind you what a horrible, thankless job this is. -

To answer my own question by the way - got distracted! I want a manager thatâs into their data analytics. I think a manager into data would be better at picking balanced squads, but more importantly fitting players into a functional system. Just picking on visual form - feels a poor process. -
Iâm expecting the evangelical route - God saved Trump to save America. Whatâs clear is itâs going to be absolutely unbearable for any sane person to watch the fallout from all of this unfold. Thereâs already social media spammers picking out people from the crowd via the footage and declaring their reactions as ânot normalâ suggesting theyâre some sort of plant or agent of the state.
-
I donât think theyâll bother doing that - I expect them to just accept the âLâ.

Southgateâs future hasnât been decided yet⊠but clearly it will over the coming days. So, who do you want? Does anyone want to make a case for Southgate staying on? And perhaps more interestingly, what are the key criteria /skills / competencies youâre looking for in the next England manager?
