Canada had a huge slice of that cake last night. Gotta keep the hosts invested. We'll see in the knock outs when things get serious. -

Hmm one of the offside guys might be affecting play there, he's in the way of the keeper -

Problem with these altitude games - don't need to overexert otherwise you'll fade. Mexico have the harder game left on paper, but Austria haven't been training in altitude so should burn out early in that match. Korea planned their training camp specifically for this fixture, altitude in Salt Lake, pre-tournament they spent alot of time in Mexico preparing. Either of these two should be looking to win this group as they're better acclimatised than any, but it could come down to goal advantage considering this show. -

Winner of this one likely wins Group A. Hope this game goes better than the one on earlier. -
Group B: Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, Switzerland

Crap game. They didn't need to completely handicap Qatar. Fair enough Canada get an ego boost and a likely pass to the next round to keep them invested. -

Games turning ugly. Surrounding ref, feigning serious injury after diving. Shit ref decisions and pressure are making things desperate. -

If South Africa look like a completely different team here I'm putting their first game down to altitude effects. -
Two concerns from that night are the first half defence being flimsy and just what's going on with Declan Rice, whether that's an ongoing he's been carrying flaring up or something he can get over within a week or two. We stuck our flag in the ground there to win this group. Meaning we take the hardest route to the Final, if that's what happens. Azteca in heat & altitude, then right after that Miami in heat & humidity. Preparation & sport science need to be on point.

Hope Fatawu comes on and scores a screamer.

ITV's set is phenomenal. BBC having Copacabana in 2014 was special and this NY one is amazing.
-
Argentina have too much travel to do and an ageing defense. France are the major standouts, particularly if they win their group.
-
Neville eating his words - pregame he's saying we only have one world class player in Kane, post game he's pointing out Bellingham is a true world class player. He looks grumpy this tournament.

4-2. Nice scoreline, got a ring to it

Side profile on Kovacic. Handsome bloke. There's the fourth. Safe to say we're planning on winning the group and taking the Mexican route. Cajones and preparation essential. We're scoring goals and creating chances, first half showed up the defensive frailties, but you don't want to focus too much of training on that, keep the vibes going.

Dixon no idea what he's on about, players shoot into the ground to get a bobble and topspin, making it tougher for the keeper to control should they get something on it. It's a perfectly controlled finish with good technique that put England back in the lead.

Absolutely peppering these now

Tragic defending both teams for second goals
