  1. I'm more than happy to let him stroll back into the side. He is one of the best players the club has ever had, so I want him playing as soon as possible. If he performs on the pitch then I don't really care what went on.
  2. Mahrez by quite a distance really. He is a level above where we currently are. I think there are probably four or five in the level below him this season. They include Vardy, Maguire, Okazaki and Morgan.
  3. No chance he is going anywhere. He knows what the situation is here and wouldn't have been expecting to be anything more than being a squad player. I was happy for him to be rewarded for his service with us and you need players like him and Ulloa that are happy to play a part whenever they are needed. Nobody else will ever pay him what we are paying him either. Giving James, a second squad player in his position a long term contract didn't seem so clever though.
  4. I've not critisced anyone for liking the article.
  5. He shouldn't be immune from any criticism, just because he has had an injury and he might be a nice chap. He's worked hard and earnt himself probably around an £8m contract. It shows that the hard work has paid off so good luck to the lad. He needs to show that he is worth that on the pitch now though as this is what counts.
  6. You shouldn't be giving preference to players just because they are well liked, so I doubt it. He considered James to not be good enough for the Champions League squad and he is fully entitled to that opinion. He has obviously been treated very well by the club in giving him 4 years, so hopefully he will now repay the faith they have in him.
  7. Return of the Matt

No i'm not a huge fan. I just don't think he is good enough to step up to the required level we are at in the Premier League. The thing that annoys me a bit though is when people say how good he has been for us in the Premier League. He hasn't shown it for us yet in this league as we were poor in the season he did play and he had a limited impact when our form improved in the great escape. I hope he improves and is a great addition to our squad this year. If not then he won't be going anywhere in the next 4 years due to his contract and salary with us.
  8. Return of the Matt

I posted on this topic a while back and i'm not going over it all again. He had a very limited impact and was subbed of when losing in one of the matches. It's a myth that he played a major part in the great escape.
  9. Return of the Matt

He didn't play much when our form turned around.
  10. Return of the Matt

No he's not. It also means it would be difficult for him to move anywhere else due to his salary here.
  11. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

One of the two players would have been very expensive subs if the Drinkwater move hadn't gone through. I understand if the club didn't want this to happen. We shouldn't be wasting money.
  12. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

You don't think £20m was a lowball offer?
  13. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

I know, what a great state we'd be in if he had any say on our finances! We'd be selling Vardy in Jan for £10m.
  14. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

Also there is nothing to say we could have tied up the Silva deal earlier in the summer. He might have been waiting for a Spurs offer as they were linked very strongly with him. Some players only want to move to clubs like us later on in the window when they fully know their options.
  15. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

Sounds like a ridiculous price to sell one of your best players.
  16. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

Oh you sound such a clever boy. It's so simple then isn't it. We could have sold Drinkwater for £20m, Mahrez for £32m and had our trousers properly pulled down. Or turned down the £35m offer for Drinkwater and kept a very unhappy player. We did the right thing and had the replacement lined up if a suitable bid came in. If not he stays. People that think all transfers should be completed early in the summer are not living in the real world.
  17. Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

Should we have just let Mahrez go for £32m? Ridiculous comment.
  18. Sagna

A quick look at the Man City forum and they where delighted when his contract was up. http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/bacary-sagna-2016-17-performances.324757/page-20 Likely to be too past it for what we need.
  19. Sagna

It's certainly not as clear cut as you make out. Would you have snapped up Mathieu Flamini last season? Similar type of player. Didn't exactly pull up trees at Palace. If we had given him a two year contract for example it would have been throwing money down the toilet. Sagna is 34, which is getting on for a right back. He used to be a quality player, but that doesn't guarantee he still is. I wouldn't be against a one year deal, but any more and no chance.
  20. Sagna

Depends how long a contract he wants. If he is after 2 or 3 years then it could turn out to be a waste of money. I'd rather be starting with Simpson, so he would only be used as back up.
  21. Andros Townsend...

The kind of player you are describing would cost at least £50m. Those kind of players won't come to us.
  22. Mahrez to .......................?

We can't force clubs to offer suitable bids before deadline day.
  23. No strong incoming rumours

Centre mid looks extremely weak because two key players are unavailable. Yes, another would be good as I don't rate James. However assuming it stays as it is, when fit I think we are ok. Huth and Morgan are not shot yet and we'll be able to rotate them if needed. Again another would be nice and we are obviously trying, but not essential. A subs bench including Slimani, Gray, Okazaki/Iheanacho, Iborra/Ndidi, Huth/Morgan and Chilwell is not bad at all.
  24. No strong incoming rumours

Why is it so baffling? We have added three players that will probably fit into the first team. A first team with a lot of quality as well. Also as it stands we have lost nobody and have reasonable strength on the bench. We also don't know all that is going on behind the scenes.
  25. James signs new contract

Can I just end the myth that he played a massive part in the great escape. Most players including James were average at best before the start of the run against West Ham, which is why we were tailed off at the bottom of the table. In the following 6 matches including West Ham, he was an unused sub 3 times. In the 7th match he came off after 13 minutes injured. If you take any notice of the match ratings on here, he was below average in those 3 matches he played.
