We should have had enough in the squad to stay in the top 4 without expensive January signings. We made some great looking signings in the summer of 2021 which looked like they could keep things going for us. On paper, Daka, Soumare and Lookman looked like young players with great potential. We all know how bad a couple of those have been for us though and the Fofana injury wrecked the season and meant we chucked unnecessary money at Vestergaard.
-
Yes in hindsight we should have pushed Tielemans out the door after he won us the FA Cup, but that would have also been an unpopular move and been seen by some as lacking the ambition to stay in the top 4.
-
So you wanted us to spend more in each window, but then criticise the club for having PSR troubles? Can’t have it both ways.
-
Great post. Good to see for a change.
-
I bet we do sign players. The Ipswich team everyone goes on about are only two points ahead of us, even with us losing 7 on the bounce! Can’t remember us getting drubbed 6-0 at home either.
-
I’d like to see a player give it to the end of the season, unless the club are obviously happy for him to go. Wouldn’t say to me that he’s a player we must sign. Always a risk he wouldn’t settle over here too.
-
He might have not settled, but I’ll repeat what I said to the other poster if you like. I’d question his attitude for wanting to quit a struggling team after only a few months. Also the fans of the club involved don’t seem bothered about him leaving. I know people are desperate to pin anything and everything on the board etc, but not signing a player that hasn’t pulled up any trees at his current club shouldn’t really be one of them.

A few posts from their forum, for your information. 'It seems that it is rather his behavior that is targeted, beyond frankly disappointing performances, it must also be said. If he does not want to fight to justify the amount of his transfer, quite substantial, and earn his place on the field, there is no point in wasting time with him. We can find more motivated players for less money and not necessarily less talented'. 'How can a Danish player who signed a contract 6 months ago ask to leave and let the club down when he has shown nothing and his performances are below the level of a player from the Training Center'. '95% of lost balls I think... totally overwhelmed by the game, the physicality, the contact... strengthen your game because you are non-existent little man!!!!!' I would question the attitude of a player that wants to quit a team struggling so soon.

The translate to English button works well.

A quick look at their forum suggests they aren't that bothered to see him leave. I'd question his attitude too for wanting out so soon when the going gets tough.
-
Well, he’s failed at a club just above the relegation zone in France, so not sure he would be the answer to all our problems.
-
He didn't play well enough to get into the team last season in the Championship. He hasn't shown anything to suggest he's a Premier League player yet either. A sale certainly makes sense for all parties.

What happens during a transfer ban if players want to leave?
Viva replied to Qwerty's topic in Leicester City Forum
There won't be a transfer embargo. We would be in a much more sustainable financial position than the last relegation, when promotion was basically do or die. -
Take the two best players out of any team and it’s going to affect their performance. Especially a team trying to stay up, with a limited squad. We’ve been unlucky with injuries again this season. I guess that must be Rudkin’s fault too?
-
Where did you expect us to finish this season? We had one of the three worst squads in the league, so I expected bottom three but hoped for survival. Since we got relegated I think we have made many good decisions along with a few bad ones. Which is normal in football. People have just far too obsessed with Rudkin bashing. It’s embarrassing really being a Leicester fan at the moment. Not because of what’s happening on the pitch, but what happens off it. Hounding out managers and wanting them sacked before a ball was kicked in the season. Booing players during matches. Moaning about everything and anything about the club. Basically giving no help to the players to try and stay up this season and trying to run a club that’s not theirs to run. We have no devine right to be a top 8 Premier League team.
-
I thought the singing fans were pathetic last night. As soon as we went a goal down, there was no support whatsoever for the players to try and get back into it. Just anti Rudkin stuff. If it’s like that until the end of the season, they will have played a part in taking us down.
-
Iversen can't kick the ball. He can't be used when passing out from the back.
-
A no brainer to accept that if true.
-
We can buy another striker if we get relegated. If we stay up, then we could end up just loaning him out again.
-
I can't see any Championship club paying more than we would get now. Clubs are pushing for promotion and are willing to push the boat out. Might not be as much interest in the summer.
-
He hardly had a kick for us last time we was in the Championship. We need to sell players more than we have done historically when we can make profit on them.
-
If we hadn't tried everything to get promoted, we would be sat towards the bottom end of the Championship now playing the kids! We spent the money and went for it, which was the right thing to do.
-
I would guess there is a fair chance that a sale of maybe Mads this summer could ensure we comply for the three years ending June 2025 if we got relegated. While the revenues and allowance will drop after that, so will the £89.7m loss from the 2022/23 season which will be a big help.
-
Surely we will only be carrying over one bad year of losses if we return to the Championship? 2022/23?
-
It's too simple to just look at it as a percentage. Three of those failures were loans or on a free, so not a great loss financially. Cannon won't lose us any money when we sell him either. The successes were big and got us promoted and could help us to stay in this league. Would make a good profit on them overall too if sold.
