  4. smoke alarms!! First, the battery always goes at around 2am, just to ensure that the incessant "pipping" kicks off while your sounds asleep, then you replace the battery and all is well, until around 2 am the next morning when the pipping recommences. You then figure it must be the downstairs smoke alarm and replace the batery in that.... but... a couple of hours later, the "pipping" is back... SHITTY ****ING Tesco batteries you think and after a few days of occasional pipping, then a few days without any.. you give in and get more expensive batteries. repeat the above... and yet... after a week of silence... the PIPPING starts again!!! annyway... after another few days of pipping you try putting one in the shed outside... but STILL the one inside is pipping.... another couple of days...of pipping.. your insanity level reACHING ALMOST MAXIMUM... when you suddenly notice... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . a THIRD ALARM!!!!!!!!!! tucked on the roof in a corner its been this one pipping the whole fooking time ..why did it stop on occasion?? buggered if i know!!

  18. I can see the difference... im not sure the cow can. Unfortunately, i think if you read through a few of the comments in the discussion... you will no doubt see that people are killing for enjoyment/amusement, meat is not essential therefore we are killing it to eat for our enjoyment. Yes there are more evil and painfull ways to kill...but the end result remains the same... a living being is now dead for our pleasure. I am NOT judging anyones morals... far be it from me to do so. (I myself am a hypocite and have eaten meat products since i decided it was wrong), but...in my eyes, the killing of an animal for my pleasure is cruel. Re PETA... they have my greatest respect, i dont agree with all they say and do but they are fighting for what they believe and that is in the main, about ending cruelty to animals.
  19. Doing something for a long time...does not immediatley make it "natural" Just because you breed (create) something, doesnt entitle you to kill it...ask your kids if they would mind. In January, 2005 ,The National Institute of Health, Dept. of Health and Human Services officially added heterocyclic amines, chemicals created during the grilling of meat to it's hit list of cancer causing agents. I fail to understand how anyone can consider killing something to not be cruel. (excluding euthanasia etc.) It always intrigues me how quickly the macho meat eaters get upset when a vegetarian speaks, I am merely expressing an opinion...rest assured i am not going to come round and steal your meat during the night, im not trying to change your meat filled lifestyle, so dont be frightened...after all, im only a vege so im weak, pallow and sickly. However, theres no point in you moaning at your computer screen the next time someone drops a cat in a rubbish bin... or mistreats the local puppy... coz you have killed that animal on your plate.
  20. I understand that this is a easy belief to hold, but we need to be honest about this, you cannot KILL..HUMANELY? An oxymoron (from Greek ὀξύμωρον, "sharp dull") is a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms. Yes there are less painfull ways of doing it, but no matter what, the animals are being killed!..and why is it ok to kill and eat a cow... but not a dog or cat? DO NOT watch the following video if you are offended by animal cruelty... however, if you believe that animals are treated humanely by our food producers, perhaps you should. [url="http://www.youtube.com/watc I just removed two links to videos, because they are so incredibly offensive, but honestly if you need proof.. just google slaughterhouse cruelty.. but be prepared.
  21. Again.. not for most animals, carnivorous animals make up a relatively small percentage.
  22. Yes i agree it has become common to eat it, but the statement was that it was natural, i guess it depends on how long you need to do something befor it is considered "nature". You will note that the WHO has not set a daily required intake for protien (unlike most other vitamins and minerals) as it is a well recorded fact that virtually all 1st world people more than exceed the neccessary amount of protien in their everyday life. Protein is found in greater amounts in green leafy vegetables and some nuts and legumes than in meat, yes tofu also has significant amounts and can be used to increase the intake. For almost all 1st world humans unless your a body builder or suffer specific illnesses you will ingest more than enough protien as long as you eat a healthy diet. also the body can more effectively break down and utilise the protien found in vegetables and legumes than it can in from meat, so in fact, you do not need to eat the same proportions.
  23. No, its not natural, it has become common but its not natural. Its actually quite easy to argue... we are not carnivorous by nature, have a look at our teeth and jaw. They are designed for chewing, (eg, grasses, roots, nuts etc.) this is also why we are the only creatures that cooks its food, otherwise we arent capable of eating or digesting meat. Even so....surely the killing of animals is animal cruelty in its most extreme? I find it confusing to keep reading and hearing about people who are horrified by acts of cruelty toward animals...who then go home to chow down on "a nice bit of steak"?
  24. is that your new nickname for ROOFOX?
