  1. I think it can be either—there have been a couple on Friday before a Saturday game this season, I think. Maybe they're taking an extra day to give Marti media training to deal with all the questions he's going to face about the PSR charge...
  2. Is there a press conference today? There seems to be no mention of it anywhere...
  3. No club has ever been given a transfer ban following a PSR charge from the PL. We could potentially get a ban if we refused to submit our financial forecasts for this year to the EFL and they decided to impose a business plan on us, but as far as I'm aware there have been no rumours to that effect. Championship clubs are supposed to submit their forecasts to the EFL in September/October, so it's likely we would have heard by now if the EFL had the grounds to take action against us.
  4. In an nutshell. Our owners have no track record of thinking far outside the box when it comes to managerial candidates, so the chances of us doing a Brighton and plucking a talented up-and-coming coach from overseas are pretty slim. This would leave the usual suspects of currently out-of-work managers with experience of the Championship who have recently been sacked and are keen to get back into work—ie O'Neil, Martin, Carrick, Robins, etc. We may as well stick with Marti.
  5. They probably do, but they won’t have any influence on what happens next week. If we breach again, though, they might finally get their chance to take a swing at us….
  6. We haven’t admitted the charges in the hope of leniency and a quick resolution - we’re contesting them. So this is very likely to drag on beyond January.
  7. The PL may be desperate to pin something on us, but fortunately for us it won’t be the PL that decides on the outcome of our case.
  8. I suspect we’ll strongly contest the other charges and even if we are found guilty of submitting accounts late, a fine is far more likely than an additional points deduction.
  9. He may well have been. But based on previous cases, six points sounds about right so he's hardly going out on a limb...
  10. I would love it to be just four as that would unleash a wave of hysterical anguish and disbelief among rival fans who had been suckered in by the reports of 12 points etc, and there are few things in life more beautiful to behold than that.
  11. So much will come down to how well we argue the case for mitigation. Everton's breach was £19.5m and they were given a 10-point deduction, reduced on appeal to six points. Forest's was £34.5m and they were given just a four-point deduction. The breach figure itself only provides a very rough guide to the punishment—the lawyers have a major influence on the outcome.
  12. If you're bored now, you should wait until next March when we're still waiting for the outcome of the appeal....
  13. Jeffrey Epstein was once warned to cut ties with Prince Andrew because being associated with him could damage Epstein's reputation... https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/jeffrey-epstein-warned-avoid-disastrous-36263195
  14. I really wish one of these clubs would take Gary O'Neil off the market before we give Cifuentes the boot
  15. They're below Coventry and Middlesbrough, neither of which could beat us (and Coventry were lucky to get a point). Why do you think Stoke will slap us?
  16. What an unexpected turn of events.
  17. "Why did you keep Rudkin on after the catastrophic decline that led to the 2022/23 relegation?" "I mean I’ve gone through this in my mind so many times. At the end of the day, with a benefit of all the hindsight that one can have, it was definitely the wrong thing to do. But at the time I felt it was the honorable and right thing to do and I admit fully that my judgment was probably colored by my tendency to be too honorable but that’s just the way it is.”
  18. Still, not too shabby…
  19. A very enjoyable listen, as always. Union FS guy very good, as other have said. It also included the most jaw-dropping moment I’ve ever heard on the pod: Jordan saying he’d happily take Gary O’Neil if Cifuentes got the boot. A proper Red Wedding moment, that
  20. Sunderland's starting 11 against Arsenal at the weekend included nine players they signed in the summer after getting promoted. That's the only way we could do it.
  21. How did they 'completely change the look of his hat'? It looks virtually the same to me. And he obviously made a conscious choice to go around wearing a Lenin-style cap as he was very frequently seen in it.
  22. Jones claimed they manipulated the hat to make it look more Russian, whereas they'd just used the image below on their curved background screen, which made it look a bit taller. Obviously they chose to project him onto a very Russian background, but that was because the story they were covering was the UK's response to the Salisbury poisonings. They'd previously projected Gavin Williamson onto the same picture when covering the same story. In other words, they neither manipulated the hat nor choose the background specifically for Corbyn—it was just their template background for the Salisbury poisonings story.
  23. This did not happen. That bonkers little scamp Owen Jones claimed it happened, but no evidence was ever produced.
